About this house rental

One of Tulsa’s most intriguing and historic lodgings, this landmark home has been authentically restored to its 1920’s charm, with period details throughout, and all modern conveniences. A perfect accommodation to experience the best of Tulsa, the McGregor House lies less than a mile from Downtown and its Deco, Blue Dome, Greenwood and Arts Districts; and less than two miles from Expo Square, the University of Tulsa, and Brookside. The restaurants, bars, and boutiques of Cherry Street begin a mere block south of the McGregor House's front door. Tulsa's new urban park -- The Gathering Place -- is close at-hand via the River Parks trail system, with access one block west of the McGregor House. Legendary Route 66 runs just 3 blocks north.

Built in Tulsa’s Art Deco heyday, the house is one of the earliest remaining works of internationally-acclaimed architect Bruce A. Goff – who designed the home at the age of 15! We saved the property from the wrecking ball in 2013, and spent over 3 years meticulously rebuilding and preserving this Prairie School gem. In the process, the house has achieved a listing on the National Register of Historic Places. The home is outfitted with a mix of early- to mid-20th century furnishings and eclectic Oklahoma artwork and memorabilia -- allowing guests to step back into the unique and rich history of Tulsa while enjoying the vibrancy of its current urban landscape.

The McGregor House’s vintage warmth is complemented by its modern amenities and conveniences. The 2,000 sq.-ft. home has 2 bedrooms and a full bath on its main floor, with an additional 2 bedrooms and a half-bath upstairs. All told, the house sleeps 8 comfortably, with quality bedding and bath linens. All-new kitchen appliances make group meals fun and easy. Bar stools pull under the kitchen island, the dining room is outfitted for 6; and an extra folding table and chairs (on-site) allow for a sit-down meal for as many as 10.

There is also complimentary high-speed internet via wi-fi, a 42” television with expanded cable service, a DVD player, and Apple TV device for general entertainment and streaming of Netflix, etc. Full-sized washer and dryer are in the basement.

Did we mention the views? The McGregor House enjoys unsurpassed views of the Tulsa skyline from its yards, porches, and out most of its windows. Its commanding view of Bruce Goff’s Deco masterpiece - the iconic Boston Avenue Methodist Church (1927) – seems only fitting. Patio table/chairs and a charcoal grill are available for al fresco cooking/dining with a view.

The urban sights and sounds of Tulsa are literally at the McGregor House’s doorstep. Downtown’s business and Deco District can be walked or pedaled to just as easily as they can be reached by car. The lively Blue Dome, Greenwood and Arts Districts are just a stone’s throw further north. Literally around the corner is Tulsa’s vibrant and historic “Cherry Street” (i.e. 15th Street) shopping, entertainment and dining corridor. The equally robust offerings of the Brookside neighborhood are less than 5 minutes due south, where you will find more restaurants, boutiques, and nightlife. For the basics, there is a large traditional grocery and a 24-hour drug store less than a mile east of the McGregor House.

Just a minute's drive north runs the original course of America’s “Mother Road” - Route 66 - through the heart of Tulsa. The campus of the University of Tulsa, as well as the Tulsa Fairgrounds & Expo Center, are just 1.5 miles east.

Access to Tulsa’s River Parks jogging/bike trail system lies just one block west of the McGregor House. Just over a mile south the trail enters Tulsa's brand-new, internationally-acclaimed urban park -- The Gathering Place. We store two townie-type bicycles in the basement for complimentary guest use. Additional cycle rentals can be arranged through a neighborhood bike shop. Tulsa also has a growing public bike share program, and commercial rental scooters are dispersed throughout Tulsa's urban core, including the McGregor House's own Cherry Street neighborhood. We can advise on the best current routes for walking/jogging or biking.

We can help late-Spring through early-Fall visitors beat the Tulsa heat by offering private swimming pool ACCESS less than a half-mile from the McGregor House. The pool site has a rustic pool house with outdoor shower, toilet and changing area. Please note: the pool is NOT ON-SITE, and is subject to some TIME AND DATE RESTRICTIONS.

There is off-street parking available for at least two vehicles; and ample on-street parking for additional vehicles along the north side of the property.

There are 4 bedrooms in the house, plus a convertible living room sleeping area. These sleeping areas contain 5 beds that will comfortably accommodate 8 people: (a Queen-size (2 people), a Full-size (2 people), a 3/4-size (one person), a twin-size (one person), and a Living Room sofa bed (2 people)). If the sofa bed is utilized, the Living Room can be closed off, and shades drawn for privacy. We also have an inflatable mattress available.

While there are two bathrooms in the house, the upstairs bathroom -- servicing two bedrooms -- is a "half-bath" and does not have a shower or tub. There is only one shower in the house, which requires larger groups to work well together to "schedule" bathing times.

Don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions you may have. For the assistance of international visitors, we are conversational in both French and Spanish.
