Casa Conduru

Hostel is REALLY pretty, beautiful wooden building, embedded in nature, with lots of areas to chill and do yoga, which its hard to find in hostels in Itacaré (and stayed in at least 4 hostels. Kitchen is amazing and clean-although it does not provide basic like salt, oil or sugar.

The hostel has a lot of potential, but it was one of the least social hostels I’ve ever stayed at. A few guests even left for other hostels in the area because of this. The volunteers didn't really engage with guests—except Sabrina, who made a real effort to help everyone feel integrated. I’m not sure if the lack of atmosphere was due to having too many rules, but it felt stiff. Also, something about the wooden building made it hard to fall asleep.

I liked the green surroundings. It is not in a jungle. The owner planted many trees many years ago. We stayed in the top-floor dormitory with a single bed for each (bunk beds on the 1/F). Each bed had a mosquito net and I liked the large round-shaped room. The top floor (2/F) didn't have a bathroom, so we had to use the ones on the middle floor (1/F) or the one on the ground floor. A note to add, for vegetarians. Before coming here, I read somewhere that this hostel allows only vegetarian cooking in their common kitchen. I don't remember where I read it - it could be in one of the guests' reviews... But this rule was changed some five years ago.

The town of Itacare was hosting a month-long seafood festival, promoting restaurants and shops. Each night there was a big outdoor concert/entertainment show at the town centre. The sound volume was so loud and we could hear it. It lasted until quite late, like past midnight.

The best hostel I’ve ever stayed at, I even came back a second time; the staff are incredibly warm, it’s simple but perfectly central, and I had such a wonderful time there.

I found everything perfect.

I’m usually not a big fan of hostels, but this one was so wonderful; I will definitely be back, the staff have become friends, the location is perfect, and it’s a very special place.
