Welcome to Hale Kai Nalu (“home of the ocean wave”) - a perfect place to call home while you enjoy all that the magic that the Big Island has to offer. Here, everyday stresses will melt away and our Aloha-pace of life will become yours. Make our cozy and private oceanfront home yours while you vacation.
HOME DESCRIPTION
Hale Kai Nalu is a spectacular 3-bedroom, 2-bath home on the ocean with the best views. Unbelievable Sunrises here. Your experience will be one to remember, starting with this enchanting home with in-ground pool and hot tub. The master suite is located away from the other bedrooms and includes a walk-in shower, his and hers vanities, and a soaking tub. The 2 guest bedrooms and the guest bathroom are on the opposite end of the home. One of the guest bedrooms offers a wonderful view of the ocean as well while the other offers a garden view. Brand new living room furniture (see photo) as of August 2021!
The home is tastefully furnished and has just about everything you need to make your trip memorable. We provide all linens and towels, and wireless high-speed internet access (bring your laptop). A charcoal grill and the fully equipped kitchen will provide you with all you need to create gourmet meals.
Lounge in the spacious custom in-ground pool overlooking the vast Pacific or simply enjoy a novel while relaxing on the deck. Soak in the hot tub with the stars above, the sounds of the ocean everywhere, and a nice cool glass of your favorite drink, after a long day of tropical adventure.
VIEWS and WILDLIFE
The view from the property is very special – you’ll be treated to the drama of the waves, white fluffy clouds, beautiful sunrises, passing cruise ships in the distance, and our version of backyard wildlife. Sea turtles, dolphins, whales (Nov-May), and even the occasional manta ray can be spotted from the oceanfront. Mynas, doves, cardinals, geese, great frigatebird, and other birds occasionally drop in for a visit and provide a source of entertainment.
STAYING GREEN
At Hale Kai Nalu, we strive to be friendly to the environment. We have a photovoltaic system, solar water heating, LED lighting, and energy-efficient fixtures. Ceiling fans throughout the home and screened windows allow us to take advantage of the wonderful breezes to cool the home. We partner with a eco-friendly house keeping service to minimize the use of harsh chemicals. Finally, we recycle and make it easy for our guests to participate with conveniently placed bins.
PRIVACY and SAFETY
The entire property is fenced for additional privacy and peace of mind. There is a front entry gate with an automatic opener (a portable remote control is available to allow convenient access from your vehicle). The oceanfront area is accessed through a pedestrian gate that is lockable. Access into the home is easy - there are no stairs and access through the front door is through a slight transition.
LOCATION
The home is located in Hawaiian Paradise Park, about 18 miles from the historic town of Hilo (main town of the Big Island) and 10 miles from Pahoa – you’ll have easy access to various shops and services. It is an ideal location to launch all of your east Hawaii adventures.

There are two security cameras at the house on the exterior. The 2 cameras are ADC alert brand. One is mounted on the street side southeast corner and points to the front yard, the carport, and gate . The other one is mounted outside of the master slider and points towards the back gate. It also has a view of the pool and part of the backyard. There is also a Ring camera to the front left of the carport (if you’re facing the carport). It will cover the front yard and driveway. All cameras are facing exterior areas only.

The view from the property was spectacular.. photos really don't do it justice...we intended to eat dinner at local restaurants but after seeing the view we decided to eat on the patio with the sound of the waves crashing on the rocks ...my island family came over and were equally impressed with the property pool views and location..sitting in the spa to finish of a busy day hiking was awesome...highly recommend this property when visiting Hilo

This spot is so pretty and secluded. We loved cooking in the well stocked kitchen. The mornings were magical. Near by walks are so off the beaten trail, you feel like a local. The pool and hot tub were perfect at the end of a long day of sightseeing.

This property is a charming (not “luxury” in any way) home, located in a humble community/town, with an incredibly unique & beautiful view. There is literally an abandoned, boarded up home next door which made me feel very uneasy safety wise. However, the home is equipped with an alarm & we did not end up having any issues safety wise. My kids enjoyed the fun pool and I enjoyed the spa at night while star gazing and listening to the crashing waves (lots of bugs though so bring bug spray). The home upon entering was pretty humid/hot no central AC). Each room had a portable A/C unit that worked well but was noisy. The house was clean with the exception of all the windows which could benefit from a good professional cleaning since the highlight of this property is without a doubt the view. The water heater stoped working on our last day but Terry was quick to respond when I reached out and fixed it right away. He was responsive to a few other questions/concerns we had which we appreciated. Also, the host gave some great suggestions, our favorites were the Volcano National Park & the Botanical Gardens (must-dos for sure)! This location requires a lot of driving so make sure to rent a car. My husband/I enjoyed walking out on the volcano cliff and taking in all the beauty and incredible ocean energy. We took some amazing pictures and while it wasn’t the most ideal property for our family, we definitely made some great memories and obviously it’s been great for many others!
