About this house rental
Year-round Norwegian timber frame home ideally located on a dead-end street bordering Whitefish Dunes State Park and Cave Point County Park, with private access to the most pristine beach in all of Door County!
This 2,500 square foot home features 3 bedrooms, a large room with bedding, 2.5 baths, a kitchen, living room, TV room, and laundry room. The house has all the charm of a Swiss Alps chalet with an open beam structure and hand-carved finials under each of the roof eves. Inside you will find antiques, knickknacks, folk art, original oil paintings, and wood carvings that add to the coziness of the home.
Three bedrooms upstairs have sleeping accommodations and a shared bathroom. The downstairs features a large room with a full bathroom and separate entranceway; which has bedding or can be used as a recreation room. The main floor has with all the amenities of home, modern appliances, a recently remodeled bathroom, laundry room, and is smartly decorated with country charm throughout. It has all the appeal Door County has to offer.
**** Due to the township ordinance, a total of 6 guests are permitted per rental.

Nestled in a 2.2 wooded acre lot with full Lake Michigan private beach access, just 4 doors down from the home. Spend the day at the beach or walk along the 3 miles of sandy shoreline, ranked as Door County’s preeminent beach by the Chicago Tribune. Stroll down the street which will lead you to Whitefish Dunes State Park. Stroll down the other direction to Bark and Glidden Roads – home to the Glidden Lodge and Donny’s Restaurant. Either way you choose to walk or ride your bike, you will have beautiful beach homes to admire. It’s the perfect place to escape from it all! Ride your bike in peace, take in the fresh country air, and gaze at the night's stars on the large outside porch. Have a peaceful night's sleep listening to the waves crashing on the beach, the wind rushing through the trees, and the deer crackling through the brush.

Prancing Pony is a lovely rustic cottage in a wonderful location.the house is very clean and well organized. We had 2 older dogs with us but they enjoyed the cozy feeling of the house and the morning walks.we all slept great on the comfortable beds after a day of exploring Door County!

My wife and I stayed at Glidden Lodge and my three children and spouses stayed at Prancing Pony.First, they are all big LOR nerds so the name fit well.Pros: Location: woods, beach and hitching post and Donnie's all desired. Price was fairly reasonable for our 5 day stay. Quaintly rustic Pets allowedCons: No AC which was not too big of a problem at night but 80 outside was felt. No garbage disposal. All dishes washed by hand which for eating at home added an unexpected chore to be assigned. Privacy non existent more like cubicles than BR's The description does not say AC or disposal but I never thought to confirm that in other rentals. Bedroom "walls" do not go to the ceiling so space above is open to all. Might work for family with young children but not so good for three adult, married, couples.

Overall we enjoyed the Prancing Pony. We stayed over the winter and while the neighbors were a little closer than we expected it was a quiet week in the neighborhood.Pros: Cozy space. Gas kitchen. Access to the lake across the street and easy access to XC ski trails up the road. Lengthy and thoughtful list of recommendations (food, etc) from the host. Main level and upstairs stayed warm even without us using the fireplace.Cons: Very strong smell of sulfur in the tap water, especially hot water. No king beds (although we knew that going into the rental). No snow removal service provided which was inconvenient given it snowed almost the entire week we were there. Basement ‘suite’ was nice space but quite cold and we couldn’t get the TV to work. Overall a relaxing place to spend time and we would recommend it to others.
