About this apartment rental
** NOTICE** There will be ongoing work to repair the seawall at the whole condo complex until August of 2027. All work done between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm weekdays. No weekends or holidays. For this reason, we are offering discounts. Please message us on this platform to see what we can do for you.
**Between now and April, 2027, the work will be at the other end of the complex from our unit, and the only effect will be the "occasional movement of equipment between condo and water" (according to management). You may be able to hear the equipment working on the other end, if you're outside, but it will be minimal compared to the sound of the crashing waves.
**April through July, 2027, the work will be ongoing on the seawall directly in front of our condo. It will be noisy during the day. Will not affect sleeping hours.
Below is the usual presentation when no construction is going on.
You will want to sit on the balcony (or lanai, as it is called in Maui) and stare at the ocean and the islands of Lanai and Molokai all day long. It is shaded until the late afternoon, making it very hard to get up for anything other than another coffee or another mai tai. The smell of the ocean and the sound of the surf are addictive. We (the owners) make ourselves take a walk every morning but come back and sit on the lanai a while longer when we are done.
The property is family owned and we want families to feel at home in our home. Therefore, we equip it the way we would want to find a property to be equipped if we rented it. We have been coming to Maui yearly for 30 years have and have owned this property since 2010. We love the place and know you will too.
We love to sleep with the windows open because we love the sound of the ocean. It is nature's own sleep sound machine. It is much louder in the master bedroom, because it is right on the ocean. The guest bedroom is on the back side of the condo, so the sound of the ocean is much diminished. If you do not want to sleep with the sound of the ocean in the master, you might not want to rent our place.
The mini split air conditioner sits on one end of the lanai. It does make some noise and blow a little warm air. We hardly ever turn it on, so it's not a problem for us. If it is hot outside and the AC is on, it may annoy some folks a little if they are sitting next to the unit. We don't have another option for placement of the unit. But hey, if you're in Maui and you let the AC unit annoy you... that's on you, lol.
We own a second 2-bedroom condo on the same floor, VRBO number 624479, which can be booked together for larger groups and families.
The Papakea Oceanfront Resort is located between the Kaanapali and Kapalua world-class golf resorts, and just minutes from beaches, shops, and restaurants, Papakea is a 13-acre oceanfront resort that embodies the true aloha spirit of Maui.
There are two private pools, two Jacuzzis, direct beachfront access, a cabana, three lighted tennis courts, two shuffleboard courts, two 18-hole putting greens, Koi ponds, lush gardens, and 12 outdoor barbecues. The resort also has an Activity Desk. For the sports enthusiast, the golf courses of Kapalua and Kaanapali are nearby, and so are beaches great for snorkeling and boogie-boarding. Alternatively, take your time walking the miles of soft sandy beaches or the boardwalk that runs for several miles beginning just to the south of the Papakea.
Our condo is fully remodeled and re-furnished with granite counters.
Our second-floor, 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom condo is directly oceanfront with a private lanai in the sought-after 'L' Building. Nothing but blue sky and ocean! One of the rare 2-bedroom/2-bathroom units where the Master Bedroom faces the ocean. The unit is air-conditioned and also has ceiling fans in all the bedrooms. We offer free wireless Internet access. Sip a cocktail on the lanai and enjoy the beautiful views of the neighboring islands of Lanai and Molokai. Parking is conveniently located near the building, and both the elevator and stairs are nearby.
The living area features ample seating, as well as satellite TV, a VCR/DVD player, and a stereo with a CD player. There is a table with seating for four on the private lanai. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishes, cooking utensils, dishwasher, refrigerator, oven, microwave, and coffee maker. The unit also has its own washer and dryer.
As renters ourselves for years, we have drawn on our experiences to think of everything possible to make your stay comfortable. The oceanfront master bedroom features a king-size bed and ample dresser and closet space. It offers a full ocean view, and the bathroom features a shower/tub combination and a separate vanity area.
The second bedroom also features a king-sized bed and ample closet space. The bathroom has a walk-in shower and a separate vanity area.
There is a queen-sized pull-out sofa in the living room for extra guests. All linens, including beach towels, are provided. We also have beach chairs and an ice chest that can be taken to neighboring sandy beaches. Papakea has a sea wall and a grassy lounging area overlooking the ocean. There are many sandy beaches within walking and short driving distances.

The place was great and right on the ocean. We were here in February and saw whales every day from the lanai. The host was helpful and responded very quickly. No issues at all. Hope to come back again!!!

The condo was spectacular. Nice kitchen nice furnishings - but what stood out was the views off the balcony into the channel. All days long whale spouts, whales leaping- magic ! Any rain lasted only a short while followed by rainbows. About as perfect a spot as we have ever rented!

Papakea offers a nice family atmosphere, daily activities, and close to shopping and restaurants. Our unit was clean, spacious, well appointed. We spent many hours watching whales and turtles off the lanai… dreamy. Robin (property owner) was awesome, responding to a last minute request for an additional night! Thank you so much!

We enjoyed the beautiful ocean views. However during our 10 day vacation, we kept finding a large pool of water under the master bedroom carpeting. We called the manager a couple of times and when the workers came the day before our checkout, they discovered that drainage water from the upstairs bathroom was the reason for the big puddle in our bedroom. We were literally stepping on another unit's bathroom water throughout our stay. No wonder I got sick half way through our vacation. I made my family leave Old Lahaina Luau early because I wasn't feeling well. The manager and the resort people did nothing for us. They just left our unit and had the plumbers get to work when we checked out the next morning. I can't imagine what that disgusting carpeting would look like if we haven't told them about the water. The 1st floor condo below us was probably affected too.
