Las Cataratas Lodge

A beautiful lodge with lovely gardens. The cabins were clean and cosy. It gets chilly here, which was a welcome break from the humidity of the coast, but the cabins have plenty of blankets. In fact there were so many on my bed that I got a bit too hot! David offers a great value quetzal tour and we were able to see three birds. The staff are incredibly warm and helpful. Great breakfast available and walking distance to a couple of local restaurants. One of my favourite places that I've stayed in Costa Rica. Thank you David for all of your help!

Without a car you are somewhat limited. The lodge can assist with taxis into the valley although these are quite pricey. The restaurant menu does not have many options, but the food is simple and filling.

Friendly and helpful staff. Amazing location. Cute rustic cabin. The onsite restaurant was very good but not open eary to enjoy with the birds. Path down tothe sendero was more hazardous than the trail. Good value.

So nice to have some relief from the coastal heat and humidity of Costa Rica! (Off season when I was there). Simple cabins are very comfortable and cosy. Fantastic cloud forest area. David and his Father run a very special place. So relaxing I stayed an extra night :)

David and his sister are great people running a family business with their Dad. They are SO helpful, with great local knowledge. They serve really good food, and the facilities are kept very clean. The trails, birdlife and scenery were excellent. And, David was our guide who brought us to a site where we saw a pair of Quetzals near their nest. A true highlight of our entire trip to Costa Rica!
