About this house rental

This spacious, comfortable well-appointed two-bedroom, one bath home is the perfect place to land in Portland! A short four-block walk from the University of Portland, the Art House is a convenient launching pad for any neighborhood you’d like to explore in the city – just to start, you are near the St. John’s, Alberta Arts, Mississippi/Boise, Overlook and downtown neighborhoods.

Called the Art House, the 1924 bungalow showcases art and designer furniture by some of the area’s best artists. You can simply enjoy the art, you can purchase it (all artworks are for sale), or you can book an art class during your vacation with the owner, whose onsite studio is in the garage!

There is plenty of space and all the amenities you need to make the Art House your home away from home. The home is fully air-conditioned and heated. The two bedrooms -- one with a king bed and one with a queen bed– are outfitted with luxurious 100 percent cotton linens. The bright full-size bathroom sports an extra-long tub and shower. WiFi is available throughout. The living room has a working fireplace and hosts two sitting areas, including a television with cable and DVD player. The dining room seats six at the handcrafted, curly maple table, and is the perfect place for romantic dinners or family and friend gatherings. The spacious kitchen has everything you need for cooking.

The Art House is a non smoking household - all smoking must be done outdoors.

The Art House sleeps four people in comfort. There is also a comfy foldout cot if you need another single bed. It is perfect for city visits, romantic getaways, visiting relatives (including students at the University of Portland), visiting faculty, family holidays, weekends with friends, or solo travelers and professionals who crave a more homey atmosphere than a hotel can provide.

The Art House is pet friendly – well-behaved dogs and cats are welcome with pre-arrangement and a deposit. Shared with the owner is a sideyard with a quiet patio, and a ready BBQ for grilling.

One off-street parking space is available, and there is plenty of street-side parking in this peaceful and quiet neighborhood. You will sleep soundly!

The onsite owner, Leah, is an artist and art teacher, who lives and works on the property -- her painting studio is housed in the converted detached garage and she lives in a separate apartment in the basement with three cats. She is available if you need help, and is always happy to tour you around the studio, but will otherwise leave you alone to enjoy a peaceful vacation.

Quiet neighborhood and friendly and responsive host. The Art House is close to grocery stores, restaurants and food pods. Also, close to major highways and airport. If you enjoy the character of an older home and are looking for peace and quiet, this home might just be for you.

Convenient location for travel in Portland area, as long as you have a car. Great base for day trips around town. Well stocked kitchen and bathroom. Furniture as well as art unique and intriguing. Excellent communication with owners. Could use some yard work and exterior paint. House about 100 years old, with era-appropriate decorative touches. If you like that (and I do) then you can overlook squeaky floors and such. Not a cookie-cutter IKEA lowest-common-denominator house.

Home is clean, tidy and arty.Neighborhood seems safe and we walked a lot with no concerns. Outdoor furniture and grounds could use a spring clean up.

The house was clean. It is in need of freshening up with the paintwork as everything seemed a little worn. The outside needs some clean-up- garden overgrown with bicycle parts and chair parts laying around. Owners tried to hide this by having all of the window blinds drawn but this made it quite dark inside. Cats were delightful.
