"This was my second time staying at this property. Close to everything at Northstar, clean and warm. I just wish the bed and pillows were a bit more comfortable but great spot for the price."

About this apartment rental

Aspen Grove Hideaway

Compact but character-packed, this Northstar vacation rental is a charming studio getaway! You'll be out and enjoying the slopes at Northstar California Resort with ease! Located just to the southeast of downtown Truckee, Northstar offers year-round attractions with premier skiing and snowboarding in the winter, as well as hiking, biking, golf, and a scenic gondola during the summer months. Right at this Aspen Grove Hideaway, you'll have access to Northstar community amenities like tennis courts, a shared pool, hot tub, and a sauna! And if you want to head down to crystal blue Lake Tahoe, it's under 10 miles to the beaches at Tahoe Vista, with Kings Beach just a few minutes beyond.

Your stay at this Northstar vacation condo includes everything you'll need to enjoy your Truckee getaway. There's WiFi, a flatscreen TV, cable, a DVD player, and even a gas fireplace. Come back from a day swooshing through fresh powder and enjoy mugs of hot cocoa in front of the fire. Even if the snow is falling down outside, you'll be quite cozy here. There's a well-stocked full kitchen if you want to make meals in (all appliances are included - even a dishwasher!), and when it's time to sit down to dinner, there's a dining table with seats for everyone. It may have a small footprint, but this Northstar retreat is perfectly designed and laid out! Out on the deck, you'll have a pretty tree-lined view and comfortable outdoor seating.

You'll be a short walk (or a free shuttle ride) from the center of Northstar Resort - the ski lifts, as well as the Village at Northstar for restaurants, a movie theater, bars and late-night entertainment, and even unique shops are easily reachable. There are communal outdoor fire pits at the resort for a cozy late-night, but of course, you could always just head back to your hideaway for some snuggle-time in front of the fireplace.

When it's not ski season, there are still plenty of things to do in Truckee! Take a scenic gondola ride in the summer, play some golf, hike one of Tahoe's scenic trails. If you feel like a drive, you can be at the lake shore in about 15 minutes for an afternoon down on the sand. Finish up your day with lunch in Kings Beach or cross the Nevada state line for some time at one of Crystal Bay's popular casinos.

Enjoy access to the Northstar recreation center amenities, which include tennis courts, basketball courts, a fitness center, a sauna, a hot tub, a seasonal lap pool, and an open grill area next to a beautiful creek surrounded by pine, fir, and aspen trees. (Site rentals include the use of three picnic tables and up to two gas BBQ grills with grilling utensils.) There is a $10 daily fee per person for use of the facilities.

property location is at a manageable walking distance from ski lift, with a minor caveat: family with younger children may not be able to do this on a daily basis, as you are walking 3 levels of stairs up and down, plus treading through small woods area covered with un-plowed snow, across the parking lot, and cross the village. this takes approximately 10 min door to door. Property itself is a small studio, with enough amenity for a comfortable stay. Living area is already small, so if you have a lot of luggage, be mindful that they will also take up almost all the remaining spaces in the studio itself. Brings back some of the college dorm room nostalgia.

To clarifly, this unit contains a double bed and a queen size pull-out sofa, not the other way around the way the listing stated. The sofa is on the older side and so if two people sleep on the pull-out, they easily roll into the middle due to the lack of support. The double bed was very comfortable. The property was clean, but the carpeting, syling, and appliances are old and some of the corners of the walls are chipped and unpatched. Nothing too unusual for a ski rental but it felt more budsget than lux because of that.I am hoping that the owners of the unit add more dishware. There were only a handful of plates and a handful of bowls, not enough to get my family of 3 through a single day without mixing and matching. The location is great if you are trying to ski. We couldn't find a trail but we managed to hike up through the fresh powder to the Northstar gondola.

It could have been better. The location and price met our needs for a last minute solution for a trip to meet up with friends nearby. The place was charming but run down. The walls had many holes and scuffs that could have easily been fixed with spackle and a coat of paint. The fireplace/thermostat didn’t work until the last night we stayed. There was black mold on window sills and on the bathroom ceiling. The carpeting was dingy and the sofa needed cleaning. Overall the look of the place could be charming if it was better cared for.

The location is super close to the mountain/gondola. The studio is basic, but is a great place to rest after a full day of activities.

Mom and daughter get away. Great place, pool, and pickle ball courts. So quiet!

Our family of four really enjoyed our stay. The condo was just enough space for two nights, with a comfy bed and pull out couch. Full kitchen and coffee was nice. North Star village is about a 5-10 minute walk and we were able to ski back to the condo which was a fun way to end the day. Parking was easy. We will definitely stay here again!
