About this house rental
This beautiful 6000 sq. ft. house is located on multiple, private, oversized Carmel-by-the-Sea lots. Steps from Carmel River Beach, the 'Love' house has been in the same family for generations, making guests feel immediately at home. Breathtaking redwood cathedral ceilings crown this refreshingly authentic 5 bedroom, 3 bathroom Carmel home built in the late 1920’s.
The expansive backyard is perfect for family gatherings, reunions, wedding parties, special events, outdoor recreation and entertaining. It features a very large lawn and patio area, BBQ and pool heated from March 15 until September 15th. There is also ample off-street parking and a large 2-car garage.
Features include a large living room with old growth natural redwood, vaulted ceilings, and stone fireplace. It has a grand piano, ample seating including a game table and chairs. Bay windows overlook the beautiful gardens, patio, and outdoor pool. The formal dining room has views of the gardens. The large kitchen includes a breakfast table. The house also includes wireless internet access for use with phones and laptop computers.
On the main level, the large, all redwood master suite offers a king bed, vaulted ceilings, a large flat screen TV, stone fireplace, dressing room and large master bath with Jacuzzi tub. Also located on the main level is a bedroom with queen bed, a bedroom with two twin beds, and an bedroom office with one twin bed.
Upstairs there is a cozy den with a balcony that overlooks the main level living room. The den also contains a comfortable couch and overstuffed chairs for relaxing in while watching the large flat screen TV. There is a DVD player and movies on demand are also available.
Also located upstairs is a large billiards room that contains a pool table and a twin convertible daybed. There is also a lovely bedroom with queen bed and bathroom.
In addition to the main house, there is a charming studio guest house with full accommodations, which is available upon request.
We have a very large level astroturf lawn in the back yard perfect for soccer, bocce ball, corn hole, badminton etc. From the back lawn there is a view out to the Carmel River Beach. We have seen whales spouting from our back lawn!

This classic old Carmel property is a real visit to a simpler time. Our grandkids, staying at another house, loved the toy chest full of blocks, trains, and all kinds of toys. And of course the swimming pool, comfortably heated. The yard is immense. Kids kicked balls around the back. And it’s literally steps to the ocean. If you’re looking for luxe surroundings and top end everything, stay at a hotel. If you want space for a big family and a sense of home, stay here. The owner’s family has owned it forever, and love it.

Had the most incredible time at this home. It's very unique, well appointed, perfectly located and we had the most relaxing stay. Barbara and team were very responsive and while the house is rustic (it's what it makes it so charming!), the place was spotless. We had a 1.5 year old with us and the house had everything we needed - crib, highchair, toys, strollers - we only packed clothes! The outdoor space is unbeatable - massive yard front and back, BBQ, gorgeous ocean view, heated pool and beach just a short walk away. I rented a bike for the week and popped into town in a matter of minutes. I would highly recommend this special home and very much hope to return one day.

Our family had an absolutely wonderful time in this beautiful Carmel home. The yard and home are perfect for a family and the location is unmatched. The owners are attentive and do a great job of managing this property.
