This waterfront vacation rental is located on pastoral Vashon Island in Puget Sound. Kingfisher Cabin is only a short ferry ride away from Seattle, Tacoma or Southworth. The west-facing views of Quartermaster Harbor will delight as you lounge on the large deck, walk the beach or sit and read by the wood-burning stove.

We enjoyed a wonderful stay at the Kingfisher Cabin on Vashon. The huge deck and water views simply can’t be beat. The cabin was clean, cozy, and very comfortable for our visit. The location is also great—It’s far enough off the beaten path that you feel tucked away in a private corner of the island while quaint shops and restaurants are within a short drive. The cabin is about 30 feet above the water - you can easily walk down to the beach. It is profoundly quiet and very private. The huge front deck is to die for. There are a number of old trees around it that don't block the view much, but give shade and also allow lots of birds to surround you. The view is wonderful. The cabin is clean, and has everything we needed. Bedrooms are a bit small, but you'd want to hang around with the panoramic view in the front room anyway.We can't say enough about the hostess. We had one minor issue when we got there. We contacted her, and she was working on it immediately, and didn't let up until it was solved.We visited toward the end of August. Really wonderful. We will be back.About the wildlife... Don't forget binoculars. We were there for maybe 5-10 min when an osprey plummeted into the water and came out with a fish. Saw the osprey 3-4 more times in the next couple of days. Also saw harbor seals every few hours. Lots of the birds you'd expect - cormorants, grebes and gulls in the water, chickadees and juncos on land. Towhees. There are a lot of nuthatches around - they were really fun to watch going up and down the tree bark - some within 10 feet of where we were standing. We did see a kingfisher once. Also creepers, house finches, etc. You get all this sitting on the deck!

One of the best properties ever stayed. Comfortable, easy access to cabin for unloading and reloading. We had one vehicle, 2 no prob. Beds very comfy. Shower nice! Kitchen had all we needed to make a sausage spinach tortellini soup. We brought K-cups and bag of coffee, thankful for the coffee grinder! Can’t wait to stay again!!

My parents were visiting from out of the US, and it was my dad's birthday, which my wife and I wanted to make it special. Boy! Were we glad that we rented "Kingfisher" for a couple of days in October! I'd say that the right from the coziness of the cabin, features, its cleanliness, the breathtaking views from the deck, and walk to the water, made the whole experience super-memorable to all of us! It was a perfect getaway that my father and mother will remember forever. Not only did our stay make a mark in all our minds; but, the feeling of home away from home in this surreal place deserves mighty kudos!! What a way to make my dad feel special?! And, he did say that over and over, which blesses our heart! The host, Jessica - who was remote, and her parents who live next door were very inviting, super-responsive, and mighty-helpful! That warm TLC is all part of the whole package. ;-) I would rate this place a 10 out of 5 if that were an option. Don't miss it - very highly recommend!! One thing I'd like to suggest is that the online pictures DO NOT do justice to what the place has to offer. Of course, a camera can never replace the human eyes, I get it. Looking at it positively though - this place T-U-P-W-O-D - Totally Under Promises Way Over Delivers!! Thank you hosts!!

We had a wonderful stay in spite of my husband getting sick for a few days during the week. In fact, it ended up being the perfect place to rest and heal and enjoy visiting with old friends. The view from the deck and the living room/kitchen is all beautiful. And the caretakers were wonderful and very kind when we needed a little assistance. I would definitely stay there again.

When we drove up to the property My Mom and I were in shock; the King Fisher cabin is on a property we went to for my entire child hood - I learned to ride a bilk on that road, spent hours on the beach, road horses with the girl next door - what a blast from our past. This cabin is such a cozy getaway. Gorgeous views across Quartermaster Harbor toward Vashon, stairs to a slip of beach (this is a heavily barnacled beach so wear shoes), just lovely! Not too far of a drive to either north or south end ferry docks or downtown. Kitchen had just what we needed. I believe the water is well water, so if you are sensitive to the taste of water you may want to bring a jug of drinking water. Also the listing says firewood provided but it is NOT provided. Plan on stopping at Thriftways in town for wood. The wood stove puts out good heat, and the baseboard heaters keep things cozy. Lots of games, books and DVDs to keep you entertained. Both bedrooms are pretty similar to each other (no views of the water as they are at the back of the cabin). Unlike many waterfront cabins, there are no stairs from the parking area to the cabin door. We had such a lovely, rainy spring weekend.

We’ve lived in Washington for a while and somehow this was our first trip to Vashon. It feels like you are so far away from it all even though you aren’t. This was an excellent rental with a great relaxing space to hang out. We very much enjoyed the location. My BFF and I stayed 4 nights at this lovely cabin on the water on the Maury Island part of Vashon. Cabin was spacious, clean, very comfortable and well-equipped. Amazing 180 degree water views from the huge front windows and large deck. Caretakers are right next door and quickly helped us with a few needs. Loved our time on Vashon - farm stands, unique shops, great coffee and food. Beautiful beaches, lighthouse and the amazing troll!! Highly recommend this cabin and location. Thanks to our host for making it available and so easy to rent!!
