About this house rental

Big Red Bunk Haus is a 3,500 sq. ft. home just minutes from wineries, shopping, museums, and hiking is the perfect place for family and friends to gather. This 8 bedroom, 4.5 bath home offers two living areas, a kitchen fully-stocked with professional-grade pots, pans, knives & utensils, and a swimming pool for your ideal getaway. It's perfect for night owls and early birds, as no one is expected to sleep in the downstairs common area. 11 ft. ceilings and 8 ft. solid-core doors accommodate even the tallest of Texans. Downstairs there is an open-concept living/ dining/ kitchen great room, 2 master bedrooms (both with king beds) with en suite bathrooms, a 3 bedroom suite (bdrm 1-queen, bdrm 2- double, bdrm 3- queen + twin) with a full bathroom, bedroom off kitchen with queen bed, half bathroom, and laundry room,. Upstairs you will find 2 more bedrooms (bdrm 1- queen + twin floor mattress, bdrm 2- full over twin bunk bed + twin floor mattress), a second living room (with 2 full-size futons), and another full bathroom. Outside relax on the wide back porch, in the pool or the picnic tables under the shady oaks.

It's easy to take advantage of all the attractions just minutes away- 7 minutes to shopping on Main Street, 10 minutes to HWY 290 wineries, 15 minutes to Luckenbach, and 30 minutes to Enchanted Rock State Natural Area. Groceries and supplies are also nearby- 10 minutes to Walmart, 12 minutes to HEB and 7 minutes to Short Stop convenient store.

Big Red offers the serenity of the country with the convenience of the city.

Big Red is situated on pastoral farmland. The home feels very private, but there are neighbors nearby and ask that all guests act accordingly. Quiet hours must be observed between 10 PM and 7 AM. House Rules must be adhered to; no guns, no fireworks, and fires are the biggies. These rules protect our neighbors. Violating these will result in losing your deposit and being asked to vacate the property without a refund. We want everyone to have a good time at our home, but we can't stress enough how important it is to protect those around us.

We get a VRBO every year for two families over Memorial Day Weekend in the Texas Austin/Hill Country area. This was our favorite to date. Easy drive to all wineries and Main Street Fredericksburg. But the rustic spot was such a plus!!! The patio and pool and tree swing and cows were blissful. Fantastic set up for 3 families with kids or a girls trip.

The location was fantastic , there was 18 of us and we were very comfortable. More than enough room . They had made a cake for us ,it was great. The showers were great and for me , the best part was the kitchen . I love the cabinets and drawers . The home is so much bigger than expected . So much bigger. You won’t be dissatisfied. Plus, there was a Christmas tree already made for us . It’s a beautiful home.

This property was fabulous for our 30th birthday celebration. The home is so comfortable and the surroundings were beautiful. We so enjoyed having a bed for everyone and plenty of bathrooms to keep all 14 ladies perfectly happy. The cows and deer were an added bonus. We hope we have an opportunity to stay there again.

15 women in our family and extended family gathered to celebrate my daughter’s upcoming wedding. There were plenty of rooms and plenty of bathrooms to accommodate our group. We stayed at this property for a Bachelorette Party and it was perfect. The check in process was easy, and the homeowner was great at answering questions promptly. The house had plenty of room for everybody and had all the kitchen appliances that you would need. (If you need a crockpot, take that.) The location was easy to find and the scenery was beautiful. We had a wonderful time at Big Red. So much to do and so little time. From the balance beam to the swimming pool to the bucket of legos all the kids had fun and that means the parents did too! Thank you Trisha for sharing your awesome barndo with us. The house was fabulous and the layout accomodated everyone. We especially loved the separate thermostats for the different areas - it made it easy to keep everyone comfortable (from the cold natured grannies to the sweaty kids). We had a great time and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet country get-away.

The property is beautiful. It is far out enough to enjoy beautiful country living, but there is easy access to town. 15 of us stayed comfortably and enjoyed every second when on the property. I highly recommend this property for a quick getaway with a large group!

We had a wonderful ladies’ retreat at the big house in the country. Seven of us were able to each have our own room. The kitchen was well equipped and it was such a pleasant break from city life. This location is about 10-15 minutes from town. We did get lost the first night driving home from dinner because our GPS went whacky.

Loved the open concept of kitchen, dining & living rooms. Wide open space outside to watch the deer from the back porch. It rained the whole time we were there, so we weren’t able to utilize the outdoor facilities- picnic tables, smoker, horseshoe pit. Very close to Luckenbach & shopping!! House was perfect for an adult cousins getaway. Kitchen easy to work in with a crowd and living room very comfortable. Would like to have had more side tables and lamps in the bedrooms for the late night readers. LOVE the dining table, big enough for a crowd, easy access for a hot game of dominos. Close enough to town for a quick shopping trip but just far enough in the country to enjoy the quiet. Perfect weekend.

We had such a great time in the Big Red Barn with 3 families (6 adults + 6 kids). We have been spending long weekends in Fredericksburg for the last 5 years and this house is now at the top of our list! We enjoyed the roaming cows and the deer coming around, mainly at dawn and dusk - every day. The proximity to town is great - only a 10 minute drive to Main St and 15 mins to a handful of wineries. The kids loved playing in the yard on the rope bridge, on the swing, and eating meals outside at the picnic tables underneath the shade of the oaks. The adults liked the horseshoes and putting our feet in the pool to cool off a bit. The inside was great, too, with the kitchen open to the dining area and living area. It was very convenient to prep food, cook and hang out as a group while at the house. It was also great to have 2 separate areas for the kids to hang out and watch TV or play (1 up, 1 down). This way, the adults could enjoy some peace and quiet while the kids entertained themselves away from the main living area. We will definitely look to stay here again - we loved it!!!

Trisha was a great manager, and the Big Red Barn did not disappoint. The pictures really underestimate the actual size and scale of this rental. Spacing for 20 people and gourmet kitchen to boot. The "BIG RED" is a destination that will impress you the minute you lay eyes on it. Once you enter this space and beautiful home. You're in for a FUN and Relaxing TEXAS Retreat. I searched for a location that our salespeople "TXTEAM" could gather from North TX, Central TX and South TX for a regional sales meeting. We had work to do but it was accomplished in this comfortable "BIG RED" environment. All the things we needed and more. We cooked, played and Worked as the extended work family that we are. We had the option to go to a hotel and everyone could double up in a single hotel room. Then spend the day and work in a large hotel conference room and go out for each meal together. Our extended work family wanted to spend quality time together. Have our own room/bathroom and create our own wounderful meals for each other. That is like any family get together. The "BIG RED" improved our work product and the relationships with each other. All of the existing amenities included beautifully designed "BIG" room, kitchen and bedroom/bathrooms. We love to grill/smoke our meat outdoors. And that was happening next to the cool pool with the most peaceful TEXAS countryside view (including black angus cows and wild deer). All I can say is the "TXTEAM" wants to come back to the "BIG RED". And you should have your own HomeAway experience at the "BIG RED". You will not be disappointed. How many business retreats can you say with confidence that you were not disappointed.

Big Red house was perfect for me and my large family. All my siblings had enough space to retreat and enough community space to visit. The BBQ was perfect for a full day of brisket cooking, town was only 10 minutes away. The house was beautiful, clean and comfortable. Felt like a home away from home... as I'm tying this... haha... "HomeAway!" Anyways, we will be back.
