Clean, spacious and close to everything!

Family of four. Had a great time. Nice breeze flowing through all rooms. Second level living offered nice views of the mountains.

We enjoyed our stay. Loved the Hawaiian charm, the location, huge bedrooms, the back porch. Hope to come again!

Over all it was a very nice place. Could use air conditioning since the upper level got extremely hot in the afternoon. The wash cloths were stained and should be replaced. We did have bugs in the upstairs bathroom that was sprayed by management but felt they should have called exterminator.

Beautiful home full of charm in a great location! Easy walking distance to Hanalei Beach and Hanalei Town. Owners clearly care about their home. We were quite comfortable sleeping without AC in August. Windows and ceiling fans provide great ventilation. Roosters are a part of Kauai. Everyone in the family adjusted to the noise after the first night. The teens loved all the beach gear provided by the owners, which was in great condition. Nice big washing machine and dryer. If coming to Hanalei pack light - you won’t need much!

Everything about this home was perfect! The house is comfortable and well appointed. The location was perfect, close to beach and town. The waterfall views from the lanai were spectacular! We cooked many meals in the kitchen and never felt like we didn’t have the right equipment. There were plenty of beach chairs and toys to use. We are already talking about our next trip!!

We loved everything about the house. It was a great location: walking distance to shops and beach. Lots of beach equipment (snorkels, fins, etc) and amazing deck.

The location is amazing. Quick walk to town or the beach. We had a wonderful stay at the house and it had everything we needed for a nice stay. The balcony was the highlight - sitting there during passing rain clouds was 10/10.

The home was just perfect for our two families. The location was ideal, we loved walking to and from the beach and town. ALL amenities needed were provided. The home was spacious and tidy. I adored the beautiful orchids and flowers on property and of course the outdoor shower! Hope to come again!

The house was perfectly set up for the 6 of us. We took daily walks to town & beach which was only minutes away. The kitchen was well supplied with pots/pans/etc. and we fully utilized the boogie boards! The house manager was very helpful & responsive.

This house is an easy walk to town, farmers market and the beach! Super spacious, we had 4 adults and 4 kids with more than enough space. Tons of beach toys, snorkel gear, beach chairs and ice chests.

Our stay was perfect. The house was clean and conveniently located within walking distance to the beach. Large bedrooms each with their own bathroom. No A/C but with all the windows and sliding doors open there was a very comfortable breeze. Would definitely rent again.

Elayne and Dave's home is very comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped and we enjoyed having our coffee and wine on the lovely outside covered deck. We watched and listened to the rain and then saw rainbows!! The view of the mountains from the deck is just beautiful. What we really came to appreciate is how well we slept because we had great air flow in our bedrooms. We spoke with other folks that were renting from another VRBO and they were hot while sleeping. We were cool and slept so well. Each of the 3 bedrooms has great cross windows. We would happily rent from Elayne and Dave again.

This property was a great fit for our trip. We had 6 total- my husband and me, our two boys (10 & 12), my mom and my brother. We walked into town (3 minute walk) every day to run to the Big Save for groceries, wander through the shops, or eat at one of the restaurants (or grab Shave Ice!). The beach was also a short 3 minute walk. Such a great location! The house felt very appropriately Hawaiian in style and decor. The 3 rooms are very spacious and comfortable and the outdoor areas (deck upstairs and down) are perfect. Each room has its own bathroom and there is even a half bath off the living area. We were told the temperatures were higher than seasonally expected while we were there and it did get pretty warm in the house as there is no AC. We slept with the windows open the first night, but quickly realized the roosters crow all night long and that it also didn’t necessarily cool us down that much. Not too hot to sleep, by any means, but would’ve appreciated a way to cool it down just a bit more. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed to fix the meals we ate at the house. Overall, we loved this house and would absolutely stay here again!

This house was the perfect spot for families with little kids. Easy walking distance to beach, restaurants, and coffee! We loved our stay here and the hosts were supper helpful and communicative.

We rented both the cottage (2bed/2bath) and the larger home next door (3bed/3bath+). They sit on a beautiful compound together bordered by lush gardens and flowers. The homes are beautiful, comfortable and had everything we needed. The kitchen was well stocked so we could gather as a family and enjoy our meals together. The lanai/porch is where we spent most of the time, reading and enjoying Mai Tai's. There is a BBQ, which we used and had a wonderful dinner with some friends who came by from the other side of the island. The beach is super close and we had beach chairs and boogie boards, along with towels and umbrellas. Town is so close, we walked in for groceries, shopping, lunch and dinner. We all decided that on our next trip to Hanalei, this is where we want to stay. Thank you!!!

We had the BEST family vacation here. The house was absolutely perfect for our family with 4 adults and 4 young children. We were really impressed by how stocked the kitchen and house was with everything we could need. There were tons of sand toys, chairs, towels, and snorkel gear that we thoroughly enjoyed! We also loved cooking in the kitchen and it had everything we could need. The location was perfect and it was an easy walk to the beach or town even with young children . We have absolutely no complaints and loved every minute ! Also, we were a little worried about having no AC before booking , but in January when we went it was absolutely gorgeous and the house has windows everywhere, so you get the most perfect breeze throughout every room! We didn’t need AC at all. Don’t hesitate- book this house!

What a fantastic place! The location was perfect - within walking distance to both the ocean and downtown. Very large bedrooms (each with their own bathrooms) and very comfortable beds. The home and surroundings have such a great vibe - full of the aloha spirit! We will definitely come back!

Great location. Short walk to town and beach. House was neat, clean and well maintained. Three large bedrooms each with its own full bath. This gave our teens lots of privacy. Plenty of space for everyone. Large kitchen had everything we needed. There is also a large washer/dryer that we used often. Prop manager Hilary was wonderful, as was the owner Ileina with pre arrival information and reminders. We would stay at this property again without hesitation.

Great location in the most beautiful area of Kauai. Very close to town and Hanalei beach, and a short drive to other north shore beaches. The property itself is large and clean but is nothing particularly fancy. That said, it has all you need to make yourself at home with your family. The owner and property manager were both easy to deal with as well.

We just returned from our fabulous vacation on Kauai. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us, what a comfortable, lovely and spacious house! We thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the deck and gazing at the mountains. It was perfect for us, we walked to the beach near the Pier most days and had the best time.

We stayed for 10 days at Ileina's Hanalei House in November. There is no doubt that this rental is in a great location. We loved being able to walk to the beach. The house met out needs, although we found the washer/dryer was very old and did not adequately clean our clothes...that being said we didn't complain about this during our stay. The layout of the house was not ideal for our 2 families with small children, as the kids were not old enough to be on another floor (2 bedrooms are on the main floor and 1 bedroom upstairs). I wish I had thought about this before booking. All in all we had a fabulous time...mostly because Hanalei is such a magical place. Unfortunately, our memories of our stay have been soured by our experience after we left. As we were leaving the property manager/cleaner was at the house and asked why our mattress cover was backwards. I had washed the cover (something I do at rentals and once a week at our own house). I was peppered with questions asking whether my children had accidents on the mattress and if that was why I had washed the cover. The cleaner insisted she felt damp spots on the bed. I inspected the bed with her and disagreed that I didn't feel dampness or smelled anything...there were no stains or damage to the mattress in the areas the cleaner pointed out. Our daughter, (the only child not in diapers all the time) was sleeping on a completely different mattress. Imagine my shock when the owner sends me an email 3 weeks later saying she is keeping our ENTIRE damage deposit because of the ruined mattress! I sent 2 emails explaining my interaction with the cleaner. I did not hear a respond and finally just asked for the owner to confirm she received my emails, which she did in a 2 sentence email. I asked for some pictures of the damage and received no response! I am more than happy to pay for damages or even extra cleaning if I believe we were the cause, however, I feel completely taken advantage of in this situation. Of course, it is my word against the cleaners, but we are a family who respects people's property. I do not normally write reviews, but I feel compelled to just warn other families to be a bit wary and potentially even take pictures of any damages you see in the house..I know I will do this at future rentals...just in case you are accused of causing them! I am trying to remember the good memories we had in Hanalei and not let this experience cloud them.
