About this apartment rental

These apartments are overlooking the charming medieval village of Compignano, just 20 minutes south west of Perugia, capital of Umbria.

The apartment is very bright, composed by a living room with equipped kitchenette, bedroom with double bed and bathroom. there are also amenities such as TV and wi-fi.

Compignano is a delightful medieval village with no more than 100 inhabitants. There is a coffee/bar in the main piazza and a small supermarket open twice a week. The immediate area is ideal for country walks or gentle bike rides. During the Christmas and the New Year period, the village plays host to a charming and well-known live nativity event in which locals dress up and re-enact the times of Christ. Very worthwhile seeing and one-of-a-kind!

Perugia itself plays host to a number of international events, the two most important and famous ones are the Umbria Jazz Festival in early July (2 weeks) and Eurochocolate (9 days) in mid October, where the whole town is transformed into one huge chocolate fest! Then, for the art enthusiast, there’s the renowned Spoleto Festival of Two Worlds (Festival dei due Mondi), which is usually held from late June to early July and offers classical music, theatrical shows, poetry readings, modern art exhibitions, etc

The house sits in the centre of Umbria enabling easy access for day trips and visit interesting and historic hill top towns, such as Perugia, Assisi, Orvieto, Spello, Spoleto, Todi, Trevi and Lake Trasimeno with its two idyllic islands. Across the Tuscan border, Cortona, Montepulciano and Arezzo (with its famous antiques market) are only an hour’s drive away.

There is no end of sightseeing for the enthusiastic art historian or picturesque views for the dreamy artist to paint. For those who are food or wine lovers there are many enotecas to visit and a good variety of restaurants.

One can play tennis or go cross-country riding nearby, or simply enjoy the surrounding areas by walking the nature reserve trails and doing a bit of bird watching. There are many scenic hillside routes for the cyclist, an 18-hole golf course 40 km away in Perugia and the possibility to fish, sail or windsurf on the nearby Lake Trasimeno.

Perugia International Airport is only 25 minutes away. The E45 two-lane highway is only 10 minutes away allowing easy access to the motorway network in central Italy.
