About this house rental
Built in the late 1950's, this Mid-Century cottage is one of the original properties of Lodge Hill in the seaside town of Cambria. The cottage was built using only redwood hearts and offers an "Early California" feeling with its vaulted ceilings and picture windows offering nice territorial views.
In 2025, the cottage was refurbished with a new sub-floor, high-end odorless vinyl flooring, wood baseboards, bathroom, interior paint, quartz kitchen counter, window treatments, designer lighting, furnishings. fencing, driveway base, gutter system, and exterior door.
Redwood Hearts Cottage retains an "old world" feeling with its contemporary Country Cottage theme, but it now feels more like a home and less like a cabin. Improvements are ongoing when guests are not using the property.
Enjoy easy access to local attractions, town, and the beach from this convenient, and quiet location. A spacious deck overlooks the mountains and the yard has seasonal fruit trees, which attract animals. Watch the turkeys, deer, and sunsets in this serene, natural setting.
The owner of this home has received a non-disclosable legal waiver to disallow animals of any kind, due to her own respiratory disability; and, therefore, guests with respiratory issues can reasonably expect to enjoy a home free from dog dander. Please seek to book a different property, if you need to bring an animal with you for any reason.
Though the inside has been refurbished, the exterior still retains a very "woodsy feeling" and all walkways are dirt and gravel. Please review the access photos before deciding to book.
The property is best suited for familial groups, or solo guests due to the configuration of the cottage. Maximum occupancy is three people, and this includes all infants and children. There is enough parking for only two vehicles on the property, and this is the maximum number of vehicles permitted per booking.

Wonderful property, all was as stated. Deer visited us the first afternoon. Nice location and enjoyed local stores, beach and restaurants. Linn’s restaurant was very good. Visited Hearst Castle, elephant seals, Harmony. Would definitely stay there again!

Lovely snd cozy home. Pretty cold so we couldn’t enjoy the deck. Kitchen well equipped snd we made some great dinners. King bef excellent

We stayed a week during January. The cottage was ideal for 2 people. The sitting room might be a bit small for 2 couples.It was great to find essentials in the cupboard and a fabulous bottle of wine on arrival.Thank you Sherry

The property was basically a place to lay our heads at night. The location was convenient. The home and furnishings were clean but old and felt worn out- ie- towels were well worn, electric outlet didn't work. Upon arrival bath mat was damp as though someone had just taken a shower and didn't hang up mat to dry. We were greeted with a musty "old" smell throughout our stay. The owner was pleasant in our communications which were brief & efficient.
