About this cabin rental
A true "cabin in the woods" experience. 5 acres, quiet, peaceful and private. The property includes a main house and separate guest house.
Main house features ceramic tile floors throughout, leather furniture, new kitchen appliances and LOTS of windows and 4 covered porches.
The primary ensuite bedroom is fully furnished in aspen log furniture with a queen bed.
A small cozy 'western room' with rock and cedar walls (attached to main house, accessed outside from the porch) has a full size bed and is just steps away from a full bathroom. (not appropriate for young kids)
There is 1 portable twin bed (it's pretty comfy), in the large pantry/laundry area. Can be moved where you'd like.
The guest house (no kitchen, but a mini fridge and kcoffee maker) has a living area plus a studio bedroom with queen bed and entry into small bedroom with full size bed.
Includes bathroom with shower.
1. Our rates are $290/night up to 4 people then additional people is extra $25/per night, per person. Nightly rate increase is due to vrbo rate changes. Guests will see lesser fees from vrbo.
2. No pets, No campers
3. Not appropriate for young children due to bedroom layouts.
4. Security lights/cameras are used outside
There are 4 covered porches the favorite and largest is partially enclosed with comfy wicker furniture. It's a favorite spot for morning coffee, watching thunderstorms or sipping cocktails in the evening. From any porch you can enjoy the view, peacefulness and wildlife.
Custer is in an area known as the 'heart' of the hills and local attractions include Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park, Jewel and Wind Caves, the scenic Needles Highway. It is also 6 miles from Crazy Horse Mountain, several lakes and approximately 55 miles from historic Deadwood (casinos) 45 miles from Rapid City airport, 21 miles from Mount Rushmore.
This area also attracts motorcyclists especially during the Sturgis motorcycle rally. In the fall Custer State Park hosts the famous Buffalo Roundup and Arts Festival.

The cabins were clean and comfortable. We enjoyed being out of town a little bit to stargaze at night. Very easy to get to Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park, and other activities.

We really enjoyed our stay! The house had everything we needed and the location was great. We felt secluded yet so close to town. Our teenage boys enjoyed the back house. Very relaxing stay. Being from Florida my husband was skeptical of no AC but he loved having the doors open for a bit in the evening.

The home itself is pretty clean but the owner should have a conversation with the cleaning people about cobwebs at eye level on several of the hanging lights. Also the owner needs to repair the very end of the driveway thats washed out on one side. It was not a good experience having the back of my brand new 24 ft trailer drag on the ground as we drove through it. In general the listing should advise that the driveway itself is not good for long trailers because of the spot at the beginning of the driveway thats washed out on one side and causes the tail of a longer trailer to drag on the ground as you pass over it. There is also a tight turn at the top that is pretty tight with a truck and 24 ft trailer. Turning around at the top is also a nightmare due to an old camper parked on one side and a pile of yard waste and tree limbs on the other. The bedroom connected to the porch on the house is creative but has not heat so became useless for us 2 of the 4 nights. I think the listing should be more detailed so people have a better idea if the place is a good fit for them. If your coming to UTV/ATV and have a large trailer, id say it is not. The washout caused damage to the tail of my brand new, trailer and a rock sticking up on the edge of the grass driveway behind the guest house cause damage to the front right corner as I maneuvered to be able to turn the rig around. Not a good overall experience.
