    Overall rating: 7/10 We had a mixed, but generally good stay at Serene Hotel Kandy. Here is a breakdown of our experience: • The Room: A big highlight! The room was spacious, held a good standard, and provided plenty of comfort for the whole family. • Location: Excellent. It was very easy to get to the hotel from the city center, which we appreciated. • Breakfast: This was the biggest letdown. At $12 per person, it felt significantly overpriced. The buffet on the first day was quite boring, and the plated breakfast on the second day was equally underwhelming. Service was very slow, which made it quite challenging when traveling with children. • Pool & Rooftop: The pool was unfortunately cold and didn't look entirely clean. We also noticed there was surprisingly little sun on the rooftop terrace during the day. Summary: A solid choice for the rooms and location, but I would recommend skipping the breakfast and finding a local spot instead.

    We had a nice spacious room with kitchenette. But there was nothing in the kitchen, not even a fridge to cool your water. Room was clean. Swimming pool was not as clean as it should be. First day we had buffet for breakfast but as from our second day, it was table served. Not sure why… if you order an espresso or cappuccino, they charge extra, which I find exaggerated seen the price per night you pay. The location is a bit far from the city center but you can easily get a pick me car or tuktuk.
