Beautiful Burgundy
Explore the Delights of this Extrodinary Region of France whilst relaxing in our Newly Renovated 420m² Farmhouse.

La Cote D'Or - The Golden Coast, Kingdom of the Dukes of Burgundy - A patchwork of Landscapes, Valleys, Rivers, Canals & Vineyards.

Situated in the heart of Burgundy, where magnificent Vineyards and Majestic Towns surround you, this spacious property is ideally placed within easy reach of these famous attractions, rich in French History and tradition.

Access could not be easier, only 15 mins from the Motorway A6, exit Bierre les Semur. 1hr from Paris, and the airports, 2 hrs from Lille, fantastic as a base if you want to do a long weekend to London whilst you are relaxing in Burgundy!! The owner commutes several times a month via Lille and it only takes 5hrs! Fantastic!
Marigny le Cahouet where the property can be found is a charming typical sleepy French Village, with a Bar, Bread Shop, Provisions Shop, small traditional school, Marie & Post Office.

Meandering its way along is the stunning Burgundy Canal, ever changing with the seasons, it is just lovely to jog, stroll, cycle or cruise the waterways taking in the magnificent scenery. Stunning at all times of year, with Summer sun blazing across the forests, and the Fall leaves that glow with glorious fiery reds and oranges. The owners have more than enough experience to take you cruising as part of your holiday, as both of them have worked for a considerable tile on the Burgundy Canals as a Chef & Pilot for an American Company featured in the New York Times.

Just 10 mins away is the Medieval Town of Semur en Auxois, uncontested, one of the most picturesque towns in France today. The majority of this historical town remains intact and throughout the year events are taking place, which involves the participation of the entire population. IA site definitely NOT to miss! Medieval dress, fireworks nocturnal tours with lanterns, weeklong festivals, fairs, are just a few events taking place.

All modern amenities are available here. Banks, Supermarkets, Restaurants, Doctors, Garages, etc.
Flavigny-sur-Ozerain is also close by, where the famous film, 'Chocolat,' was filmed. A gorgeous village on top of a hill surrounded by walls. Well worth a visit.

Alesia, the famous site where Caesar and the Gaul, Vercingetorix fought their bloody battle is a must for all budding young warriors who want to re-enact one of Frances most famous Legends!

Just a little further a field the famous Wines of Burgundy can be found. Its celebrated Crus are around every corner!
We can arrange private visits.

La Ferme de La Lochere is situated next to a trickling stream, which bares the same name. With a view overlooking its famous medieval bridge, and rolling countryside to the top of the valley. It's a glorious way to meet the day.

This renovated, and lovingly restored 200 year old property was once part of the Chateau de Marigny, just a stones throw away surrounded by its moat ans still lived in by private owners.

The owners have used their 17 years of experience in restoring old buildings to provide you with a spacious and comfortable setting to enjoy your holiday. Giving you all the conveniences of modern living whilst preciously guarding the heart and character of this gorgeous building with its arched windows and pigeon towers.

When you arrive at, 'La Ferme de la Lochere,' you will immediately notice the vast doors of which there are three. Handmade in oak by local craftsman they stretch upwards of 3m high by 4m wide, they cast brilliant sunlight into the ground floor which is just over 200m², paved in flagstones, with a majestic stone staircase sweeping up to the 1st floor.

The entrance hall is spacious and rises up to the eves, which is lit by 2 impressive Moroccan Lanterns over 1m tall.

Following through past the stone staircase, which is situated on your left, you will be taken round, and into the vast sitting room with its handsome fireplace and large, really squishy sofas, heaven at all times of year!
There is a very practical hand carved oak table big enough to seat all guests and children.
Again there are 3 Morrocan Lanterns to bath the whole area in soft coloured light rising to the roof.
The kitchen is extremely well equipped, as the owner is a professional Chef, (she is available for cooking demonstrations and can provide meals, - she link to website for details). Full of everything you will ever need with a professional cooker for those who wish to practise being the next Gordon Ramsey or Jamie Oliver!
From the sitting room, dining room you will be led out through the arched oak doors into a flowering garden. Stylish garden furniture, BBQ and children's play area are provided.
The 1st of 5 bedrooms can be found on the Ground Floor, 30m² in size with its own bathroom. For those not wishes to climb stairs it's ideal! Tastefully furnished light and airy is the aim for this and all the other bedrooms, which are the same size and bigger!
Going up to the 2nd floor will lead you to a large mezzanine area, which we can adapt to sleep 2 children by prior arrangement.
To the right are 2 bedrooms leading off the mezzanine. Both with bathrooms and lots of space.
The 3rd & 4th bedrooms can be found to the left of the mezzanine.
A small walkway will take you down to the gallery looking over the sitting room, dining room and the bedroom doors lead off to the right and left of that.
Both bedrooms are large and can sleep up to 3 people, (family room), + cots
The bathrooms are spacious, and the one to the right has a bath as well as a shower.
Coming back to the ground floor and turning in the opposite direction to the sitting room, a passageway will take you to the 2nd garden, where the heated pool is to be found.
Compliant with all French Pool Regulations and surrounded by a natural stone wall, it's the perfect place to unwind with a glass of wine!

The house exceeded our expectations! Idyllic location, very peaceful, beautifully decorated and well kitted out, can’t fault anything! Any issues we had were sorted out very promptly. Both Katherine and Yannick were wonderful hosts and the gifts of bread, croissants & tomatoes were delicious and very much enjoyed. Lots of lovely places to visit & good restaurants a short drive away. Would highly recommend staying here!

    Fabulous house and hostess!
This house far exceeded our hopes and dreams for an amazing place to use as a home base during our trip to the Bourgogne area. It’s upscale farmhouse chic but super cozy and comfortable. Each bedroom has an en-suite bath. The kitchen is a cook’s paradise, the outdoor space is gorgeous and the surrounding area is a step back in time and history. Katherine is an amazing, fun hostess and we can’t wait to stay at her house again and take cooking classes!

    Fabulous Ferme de la Lochere
    Fabulous Ferme de la Lochere
Katherine and Yannick are excellent hosts; most welcoming. She has an enviable energetic personality; so passionate for produce, food, family and friendship that it's instantaneously infectious. Upon arrival the exterior is strikingly beautiful and homely but reflective still of what this former building was with its overly large doorway and cavernous entrance hall; which is breathtaking. Off the entrance hall is the magnificent main living area. Spacious, luxurious, whilst practical, homely and so comfortable. Kitchen is a cook's delight with absolutely every implement that you'd need for any kind of cooking. So well set out and perfect for a cooking / dining experience with the fabulous oak table to sit down and enjoy the fruits of your labour. Also on the ground floor is the first beautiful bedroom with it's own private entrance. On the upper floor are the remaining four bedrooms which are all so spacious and beautifully decorated; all with superb ensuites. The landing provides an elevated quiet space for reflection. There are oak beams throughout which add so much character and style. The flagstone floor is amazing as are the archway doors leading to the private courtyard where we dined in the tranquil surroundings under the stars. The stone fireplace on the living area would be wonderful on a cold evening. As if the above wasn't enough we walked down the hallway to the pool courtyard which was devine in the seering heat of 40 degrees this week. The welcome pack was far more than we expected and the complimentary miel/ honey was as wonderful as was the wine. Bikes are available for hire to take either a gentle stroll along the canal side or a more energetic ride around the glorious countryside. In addition helmets, water bottles, and even children's trailers are available; all of which we took advantage of. We were a family of 11 including 5 children under 4 and this wonderful home was just perfect. In addition to the above there were all the really thoughtful extras like plenty of informative books for both adults and children, games and toys, candles, sound system, oh the list goes on. Fair to say you'd need for nothing as they have thought of everything! I saw an earlier review which was pretty damming and negative and I just didn't get it. Leaving a place as you found it should be a given unless of course you leave in a heap to begin with! We give this an 11 out of 10! Would go back in a heartbeat and would highly reco

We joined other couples for a reunion of our undergrad days together. The Farmhouse was the perfect spot to meet and relax in the quaint setting of the French countryside. The owner and hostess, Katherine was helpful and friendly. We enthusiastically recommend this place for any group looking for first class accommodations in a friendly atmosphere.

    Great week in Burgundy!
    Great week in Burgundy!
The house is lovely and spacious. The kitchen is a cooks dream. The owner, Katherine , was delightful to work with very helpful & accommodating. Lots of activities to visit & most require driving, which is very common for those of you that travel to the French countryside. Katherine provides good quality bikes for guests that prefer to roam around the village. All and all, it was a very delightful & restful week in Burgundy. Don't confuse this with property with a hotel. No one is going to wait on you & pick up after you on a daily basis. It's a house, which is exactly what we wanted! Lastly, Katherine is an amazing chef & I learned quite a bit from the two incredible meals she prepared for us. Enjoy!

    Absolutely Lovely Home in Burgundy
    Absolutely Lovely Home in Burgundy
One of my hobbies is to search for the perfect vacation home to accommodate a group of our friends . In the past 15 years we have rented homes throughout the U.S. and Europe, and La Ferme de la Lochere was by far the best. Every word of Katherine's detailed house description is true. There were 8 of us longtime friends traveling together, and this is the first home I have ever encountered, that has 5 equal king bedrooms along with 5 equal ensuite bathrooms. The common living area is very large and open. The house has a professional kitchen, with sharp knifes and every tool, dish and pan needed to turn market day treasures into tasty meals. Katherine and family live in the adjoining property, across a yard and pool. She was available to answer any questions, but never popped in without being asked. By prior arrangement, Katherine cooked the first evening meal for us. I am a good home cook with some experience in catering, and I can say without qualm that Katherine's food is among the best I have ever had. We enjoyed the first night so much, we asked her to do 2 additional meals later in the week. We were very lucky that she was available with such short notice. We loved the close proximity of the house to the Burgundy Canal . Our group took several walks along the canal, which has an adjacent path for walkers and bikers. The scenery there was beautiful, with lush green rolling hills and fields of yellow flowers. La Ferme de la Lochere was well located for Burgundian field trips. Among our favorite were the Abbey Fontenay, the interactive museum at the site of the battle of Alesia, and the lunch at Katherine's charming brother's restaurant in Chateauneuf. Dijon was a surprisingly beautiful city, not touristy, with a lovely square and many restaurants for a nice lunch. One of our group is a serious wine collector and enjoyed the local vineyard Vignoble de Flavigny, and also the many tasting opportunities along Route des Grandes Crus just north of Beaune. I highly recommend La Ferme de la Lochere for couples traveling together or for a family vacation. It is a surprisingly good value for such a large, beautifully decorated home.
