The house was really amazing. Had everything we could have needed or asked for. 4 levels of bedrooms so each couple had their own area and that allowed for utmost privacy. Kitchen was fully equipped, and the hot tub and steam shower was a nice added bonus. Bathrooms were spacious and convenient to sleeping areas. Multiple den areas. Easy to relax.

Wonderful place to stay in the summer (we visited in July for 9 days). Great location - walk to John Denver Sanctuary, Clark's Market, the Rio Grande River and Trail and town. No need for a car unless you want to explore away from Aspen. The house was clean, comfortable and well supplied. We ate most dinners on the outside deck near the kitchen. We had no complaints. Great place to stay unless you have difficulty with stairs - there are lots of stairs. My wife and I are are in our 70s and the stairs were no problem for us - in fact we like the different levels in the house since they allow more privacy when in the bedrooms. However, someone who has difficulty with stairs might consider staying elsewhere. If you are not physically handicapped, this house is a wonderful place to stay!

My family and I love Ellen's house- best views in town, in an expansive eclectic setting- super convenient to downtown, Clarks, JBar, and mega shopping. Large parking space for 4 cars at premises. Amenities and provisioning are super. Lots of conversation, visiting and dining space- and huge decks on multi levels.

My wife and I decided to stay here with our kids and grandkids for a week of skiing. Everyone skied and enjoyed the ease of getting to all 4 mountains via the nearby Galena Bus route to the Ruby transit center. The house is within walking distance to the town center with great views of Ajax. The unique house design permitted the under 21’s their own private rooms while the adults could enjoy some quiet interludes. Walking the nearby trails showed off the magnificent homes in Aspen. Everyone left Aspen with great memories!

This property is a totally unique home that feels as if it’s been built into the side of a mountain. (Yes, as a result there are many stairs - not for the mobility impaired!) There are some small issues inherent to a big house that hasn’t been fully renovated - the primary bedroom bathroom door sticks and the tap is leaky, for example. But overall this house is pretty awesome. I especially appreciated the big ice maker in the kitchen (renovated and lovely) and the steam shower / sauna on the ground floor. The walk to town is about 15 mins and the sidewalks, as with everywhere in Aspen, can be icy but it’s close enough to be do-able without a car (we didn’t have one and that was fine). The host was super communicative and helpful. Would I stay here again with my friends? Absolutely!

It is a wonderful property where we have stayed yearly. It has spacious bedrooms & bathrooms far enough from each other, so everyone has privacy. In addition there are stacks of wood and kindling so every night we could be cozy around the fireplace playing games & watching TV. It is truly a special place that the owners share with us!

This is a very unique property, situated to take in the magnificent views Aspen has to offer - it's really quite incredible. Each bedroom has its own balcony, along with a balcony for the main living area. You have beautiful views of Aspen, as well as the Roaring Fork River, and the town of Aspen.

The property is a unique architectural gem built into the hillside over an old silver mine shaft and incorporates some of the mine shaft into the interior of the home. It sits on a small hill just above the roaring fork river enjoying magnificent views of Ajax Mountain and the river valley. It is only ten to fifteen minute walk into town, which allows one to avoid the challenge of finding a parking space in downtown Aspen. It was a pleasure coming home each day to such a beautiful home. However, all this does come with a lot of stairs as the house is built on four levels and the master bedroom is 2 1/2 flights below the entry. My wife and I (both in our seventies) found the multiple levels offered privacy (guests and/or family members on different floors), great views and good exercise, but be forewarned. Overall, both the house and Aspen are very special and we plan to return.

This is our 2nd year and it is a wonderful property. With so many levels it offers privacy for everyone and a middle level for everyone to eat and hang out. Plus the added feature of a real wood burning fireplace with wood supplied. Perfect!

I stayed with my family and another family for a week. The house was unique in its layout and architecture, and the location to downtown, the grocery/wine store, Hunter trailhead made it easy to walk everywhere. We especially enjoyed the outdoor patio, steam shower, and hot tub after morning hikes. The top floor bedroom gets very hot when temps reach high 80s. Overall, we were very happy to stay here!

This house is unique, beautiful and has everything you need for a group stay. The kitchen was loaded up with all the necessities (and more) for us to cook some great group meals. Short walk to all the restaurants/shopping. The steam room and hot tub were used a lot! The house has very cool architecture and the amount of windows allows for great views. The beds were very comfortable too. The hosts were very easy to communicate with and we really appreciated them being flexible with leaving our suitcases in the house while we walked around the town before our flights home. Thanks so much for a lovely stay - we will definitely be booking this house again in the future.

Our family of 5 adults had a perfect week at this beautifully appointed very large and perfectly located architect designed home. Large living/dining/kitchen areas on main floor—and we gathered around the wood burning fireplace every morning and evening. Bedrooms spread over 4 floors have lots of privacy for everyone—all bedrooms have their own bathrooms and decks with Ajax views. This is a family home with all the nice touches, well stocked kitchen and obvious care taken to make this a lovely place to stay. Would definitely recommend it for couples or families. (Stairs might be challenging with toddlers or elderly but we loved being spread out!) Owner and house manager were both welcoming and responsive to any inquires we had.

Cozy, eclectic, spacious house was very comfortable for our family of 6, (4 adult children). Easy walk to town even on snowy streets. Convenient bus access to town as well. The best equipped kitchen of any VRBO we’ve stayed. The house manager was extremely responsive to issues with heating - the problem was city wide and totally out of her control, but she worked to keep us comfortable.

The property exceeded expectations. We loved the views of Aspen Mountain from the many decks. The living areas (although separated by stairs) were very comfortable. We enjoyed a “gourmet “ Thanksgiving dinner, partially prepared by us, and partially carry out. Couldn’t have been more perfect. We loved our stay.

655 Gibson could not have been better located for us. Also, the fenced in yard with hot tub was a big plus. The lower level master is the only bedroom we used, it is cozy but large and had a very nice bathroom. The kitchen and living space is nice, plenty of patios and a small fireplace inside which we enjoyed in the mornings. The upper bedrooms can get hot in summer but it was bearable overall. I can’t say enough about the location- really close to town but on a quiet street. House manager was helpful, too.

We really enjoyed our time in Aspen and at this house. The house has many levels and each bedroom (and the living room) has it's own private balcony. The house was well equipped and offered plenty of space for our family and friends. The fenced-in backyard was great for our dog as well. The house is very close to downtown and the river. There are nice parks near the house as well that are great for kids. Overall, wonderful home!

The home was well equipped, particularly the kitchen. Downtown is just a few blocks away. My principal caution relates to the layout. You enter on a middle level where you find two bedrooms and two baths. you have to then go down a level to the main living area (where there are no bathrooms or bedrooms.) Additional bedrooms and baths are either one story down and two up. Also, there are some safety features on the stair banister that would make it quite dangerous for toddlers (very wide spaces between the rails). boulder, co Lastly, the furniture available on only on patio was very dirty.

The glass roof is something to see! It offers great views! This home was great for me and my 2 10 year olds! It easy to get to town, whether on foot or by car. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils and there was a market very close to the house. The house was very clean and the owners were a delight and easy to work with. The stairs would be a problem for the elderly or handicapped. I would highly recommend this home to couples for a weekend getaway and to families with children.

So many great things to say about this property as well as the owner and care taker. Pro's: Great location within walking distance to town, bus stop close by, views of Aspen mountain from every room, fully stocked with cooking tools, fireplace stocked with wood and kindling, plants/flowers in the house that are blooming, steam room, jacuzzi tub, allows dogs, a bathroom paired with every bedroom, humidifiers in every room, two washing machines/dryers, owner/care takers are quick to respond to your every need and will work with you on special requests. Cons: No hot tub but I'm told one might be put in soon and lots of stairs (not good for elderly or disabled but the pro is you get a good work out!). Overall I had a wonderful stay at this house and would recommend it to anyone. Will for sure be staying here again next year!

This was a very good choice for our family of 8 adults to gather from various states in order to celebrate Christmas together and have a wonderful ski vacation. The pictures and description accurately describe this unique home built into the side of the hill. I used the lovely, well equipped kitchen twice a day to cook big meals for our group. There was everything I needed. Food shopping for those meals was easy just down the hill at Clark's Market. The view out the many, many windows is breath-taking. Each bedroom/bath offers couples their own privacy. Everything was clean and well stocked with plush linens, paper goods and firewood. There are a lot of stairs, as mentioned in the description. This home would not be an appropriate choice for families with young children (stairs have open backs) or those with difficulty getting up and down stairs. Most of the flooring is slate so if you are coming in the winter, bring your slippers. We had cars to get to the slopes, but shuttle access is less than 100' from the front door. We loved trying all 4 resorts: Aspen, Aspen Highlands, Snowmass and Buttermilk.
