Delightfully relaxing Balinese-inspired villa with three separate pavilions (living, primary bedroom, and guest bedroom) custom-designed to enjoy inside/outside living in your private oasis of sun, lush gardens, hummingbirds, butterflies, toucans, and sparkling pool waters.
Nestled high on a peaceful hilltop, the panoramic views are fantastic: to the northeast, the Atenas Valley with Póas, Barva and Irazú volcanoes in the background, to the southwest the Rio Grande Valley and to the east, the Central Valley. Ideally located in a gated eco-residential community, a thirty-minute drive from San Jose airport, this exquisitely crafted three-pavilion tropical hideaway is close to everything Costa Rica has to offer. Invite family and friends to enjoy the spacious pool and spa, lounge on the terrace with a good book, or surf the WiFi from the hammock.
Location: 26 miles northwest of San Jose; 15 miles west of the international airport and 43 miles northeast of Jaco Weather: Warm during the day; mild at night. The dry season runs from December through mid May. A stroll through the immaculate, palm-lined central park or lunch at one of the many typical small cafes serving local food in town awaits visitors to Atenas. Located on the Central Valley’s western edge, Atenas is a slice of quintessential small town Costa Rican life. With just 5,000 inhabitants (17,000 including the suburbs), Atenas is famous for having one of the best climates in the world, according to National Geographic. Fantastic home! It is truly one of the nicest places we have ever stayed in all our years of travel.
Elias, the caretaker, met us and showed us through this beautiful home. He was very fast to respond to any of our questions.
The home was very clean and the kitchen was extremely well-supplied with appliances, dishes, utensils, etc.
A couple of times each day the electrical transmission wires outside the property boundary made a loud buzzing sound.

This villa offers everything you could desire. Beauty, comfort, atmosphere, luxury, art, birds and lovely garden. Pool and hot tub ensure relaxation and exercise. Elias as the caretaker and contact was perfect. Plan on a few days at the Villa without traveling everyday. Would recommend seeing Poás volcano and a trip to the beach at Jaco. Both very easy in a day trip. Many very good places to eat in the town of Atenas.

We had a wonderful time at Villa Tamarindo, and I wish we could have stayed longer. Elias was very helpful, and the property is stunningly beautiful. We even got used to the cicadas! The kitchen is very well appointed and all the rooms are quite comfortable. It was a good location for birding as well; I added several species to my life list, including a keel-billed toucan and a turquoise-browed motmot. The lock to the living room was a little sticky, and we could have used labels on most of the light controls because we forgot which controls went to which lights. That’s minor, though. We recommend this place at the highest level!
