About this house rental
LOCATION / LOCATION / LOCATION !!!
The house is located at the West end of the Island where it is less crowded and more private. If you want a wide, clean, pristine, peaceful beach that gives your family space, away from the crowds at high tide, then you are going to LOVE staying at this location in Holden Beach!!! Also, there is little traffic on the main road at this end of the Island, so it is more peaceful and more quiet at night.
• NO CHARGE for 'HOST FEE': Unlike the majority of Homeowners, we do NOT charge this ($150 to $450) fee! (Not to be confused with VRBO Fee)
CHANGES IN 2024 SEASON:
The 2024 Season had (12) 10-star reviews and there were none less than a 10-star.
In 2021 we had (10) out of our (11) reviews were 5-STAR reviews!
Unfortunately, 2023 Season was an off year for us.
With my wife’s cancer, I acknowledge that the house was not to its typical standard the last two Seasons...mostly due to a bad cleaning company.
So a lot of changes, improvements and upgrades were made for the 2024 season.
1. Most importantly the cleaning company has been replaced with an amazing new cleaning company (a family business). We have already had a very positive response.
2. Bathrooms have been updated (see photos).
3. Brand new, large refrigerator for 2024 (see photo)
4. All walls repainted or touched up.
5. Other miscellaneous updates throughout the house.
All photos are recent so what everything you see in the photos is exactly what you get when you arrive.
Give your family memories of a vacation on the ocean in this peaceful, relaxing and charming coastal seaside cottage. Nice wide beach, even at high tide, unlike other areas on NC Islands due to erosion!

WALKWAY TO THE BEACH: There are absolutely 'no steps' on the 'Walkway to the Beach'...this makes it a safer walk for the young children and the elderly. The only steps are the 5 steps from the main deck (covered) off the house down to the Sun-Deck... before the walkway starts.
• Maximum Occupancy: (8). (With no more than 6 Adults...over the age of 18).

• Badminton/Volleyball court of sand on the Oceanfront side of the house. (Badminton rackets & Volleyballs provided)
• Additional private Sun-room with another TV (in addition to our large Living Room) for someone who wants to grab a book and read on the couch in private or those who just want to watch a different TV station.

There is Nothing like this area of beach on Holden Beach…there is about a one-half mile section on Holden Beach where the Beach is wide and plenty of beach (sand) at high tide! Everything East of our stretch of beach has very little sitting area on the beach at high tide. Everything West of this stretch of beach is a VERY long walk from the house to the sand.

Our host Don was fantastic. He had reached out to me the week before our stay to make sure that I didn’t have any questions. He went through the check-in process and I felt very comfortable with all of the information that I was getting from him. The whole process was very smooth.

My family and I stayed here from 4/26-5/2, 2026, for my daughter's birthday. First off, this house is on the West end almost at the gated community access, we were expecting a big open beach and unfortunately due to storms unless it is low tide there is absolutely no beach, water is literally up to the dunes with no space to even walk! I know this isn't something that the owner of the property has control over, but it was very disappointing, considering my daughter just wanted to spend her time playing in the sand. But thankfully there is a volleyball net and sand area in the back yard, so she was able to just take her sand toys and play there. As for the house it was very well maintained and undated, with a fully stocked kitchen. It is 2 story with the garage, 2 bedrooms and a bathroom on the bottom level and up the stairs is the main living area, which is where we spent most of our time, there is also a sunroom with couches and a tv. We loved the big open floor plan and the big porch facing the ocean, but sadly you cannot actually see the waves due to the sand dunes. The owner, who is also the host was very nice and helped us with all our questions. We had noticed the AC not working properly which was not a big deal considering it was not that hot but once we let him know about the issue, he had a repair man out within the hour, which was very impressive. We would most definitely rent this house again considering everything that is included for a very reasonable price.

The positives. Excellent location. Inexpensive compared to most beachfront properties on this beach. Very clean and dry. All appliances work. It's a comfortable amount of space for a family of four. One unexpected benefit: tupperware!The drawbacks: the house is old and in need of updates. The furniture is old. The glass top to a table that was broken 2 years ago when I stayed here remains broken now. Beauty was not considered when putting together this house. The ceiling fans, the light fixtures, the fluorescent lights, the furniture--nothing is nice to look at, but as noted, it's all functional. The owner is in touch too often. The worst part of this house are the signs posted by the host. The signs in this place yell at you. They scold you for things that past guests have done. You walk into the house, all excited about your beach vacation, and are immediately confronted with signs posted everywhere that YELL IN ALL CAPS (also red, bold, underlined, with exclamation marks) about what not to do, and how disrespectful and disappointing it is when guests do x, y, and z. The impact is that the smile slips from your face and suddenly instead of being happy and excited, you're both angry (because you got yelled at for things you didn't do) and anxious (because this place has many rules, and you'll be in trouble if you break them). This feeling stayed with me the whole time we were there. I could not relax.
