About this cabin rental
With current uncertainty of future Stay Home Stay Safe orders we are asking all guests to either purchase the travel insurance or be prepared to reschedule their stay if they must cancel due to COVID. Our zero refund cancelation policy will continue as stated in our rental agreement.
If a guest is diagnosed with or notified that they are a direct contact to COVID and your stay is scheduled within the quarantine period we ask that you notify us immediately to change your dates. NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN.
Come experience “up north” in all of its rugged glory. Nestled among trails in the Hiawatha region of Munising, MI (next to Haywire Trail #8), The Log Cabin Retreat is also situated in very close proximity to the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.
This is the PERFECT location with quick access to everything the area has to offer. Enjoy snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ice climbing and ice fishing in the winter; hiking, ATVing, mountain biking, swimming, beaching, fishing and kayaking/canoeing in the summer. There is plenty to do in the area and the Log Cabin Crew is ALWAYS happy to help you out!
The Log Cabin Retreat is surrounded by 20 acres of private, wooded property. Luxuriate in solitude or enjoy Munising – your choice! The conveniences of town are just a short (10 minute) drive away. The famous Bear Trap Inn (restaurant and bar) is just 1/4 of a mile down the road: Our guests have always loved this place. Kewadin Casino in Christmas, MI is about a 20 minutes’ drive.
The cabin is quaint enough for one family, yet accommodating enough to comfortably host larger parties of up to 16. There are four bedrooms and two bathrooms on the basement and main floor levels, plus a loft.
Park your snowmobile trailers and trucks in the large driveway – there's tons of space to pull in and pull out (no need to back up). Stoke up the fire and relax. Imbibe at the bar. Take in forest and wildlife views from the comfort of the deck. Cook up a feast on the gas grill. Roast marshmallows and enjoy each other's company around the fire.
The cabin is yours to enjoy during your stay. There’s plenty of room here to do what you like. Make memories; do things your way. The kitchen is fully stocked. The living room is plush. The basement is fully furnished; laid-back. All bedding, bath towels and toiletries are included.

From the start we had excellent communication with our host. The cabin is very comfortable and well stocked. The beds were amazingly comfy! The appliances were smarter than us but we managed to learn how to work them! lol! Location is terrific! People in the area were very friendly! We loved the UP!

The location of the cabin was excellent for us. We appreciated the great sign at the turn in as it made it very easy to find even in the dark. It is close to Munising and the Pictured Rocks National Seashore. It is very easy in and out to get where you want to go. You get the feeling of being remote while really just being minutes from so many places. There is a large yard and plenty of parking. It is a really cute cabin and had plenty of room for our party. It had everything we needed. We enjoyed the ambience of the fireplace in the chilly evenings. We had an issue with mosquitos but understand that mosquitos are just part of being in Michigan and the UP. Make sure to take repellent. The mosquitos were so thick we did not get to enjoy the firepit. The host is very responsive. We would stay here again.

We planned a relaxing UP vacation with 3 families and chose this property due to the size and accommodations. This property met our expectations. There are 3 bedrooms in the downstairs area which was cold when we arrived. We did try to fix the air ducts to help even out the heating and cooling as the loft area was very warm. This did help for the most part. We were also prepared for cooler weather.The kitchen and laundry worked out well, however 2 bathrooms for 3 families did prove challenging. We used the kitchen quite a bit to prepare meals.We did not spend much time outside the house as the mosquitoes were fierce this year, but there was plenty of space for our group to hang out inside.Overall, this house is a great option for large groups which can be hard to find in the UP. It is a good location for Munising and Pictured Rocks. The grocery store in town was relatively convenient for our needs. I would recommend this house for your next Pictured Rocks vacation.
