Newport Beach Pirate House

This is our 2nd time staying here as a family. Already booked our 3rd. The layout works well for our family of 8. Outside shower is good to have. AC is a great benefit. It’s the little things they do that makes the house great…great garage, air compressor, fireplace outside, tankless water heaters, good kitchen with everything you need. Fast, fast responsiveness from the host.

We had a wonderful stay at the Pirate House - two parents, a 6 year old, a 3.5 year old, and a grandma. Communication was quick and easy with the hosts. Check-in was a breeze. The house is exactly as described. Better than described, actually. They were depleted in some essential supplies (e.g. sponges, toilet paper, laundry detergent), but there are 2+ supermarkets nearby. We wanted to buy food anyway! And the kitchen appliances are modern and easy to use. We didn’t use the grill or the outdoor fireplace, but they looked nice. The house was clean with fresh linens and plenty of towels. There’s a huge smart tv in the comfortable living room. There are board games for different ages, though no toys for our aged kids (we brought some). The beds are comfortable. There’s a bunk bed trundle combo in one room that could fit 4 kids or three adults. The bathroom has a big tub which was fun for the kids and relaxing for the adults (we couldn’t get the jets to work but it was still great) and a separate shower with strong water pressure. The outdoor shower was awesome when we returned, sandy from the beach. The AC worked well and was lifesaver since it was 85+ everyday. The washer/dryer are big and new and worked well. The house is even more conveniently located than I expected. It’s a very short, safe (no major roads) walk to the beach and right next to a lifeguard stand. We went every morning at least. The garage is spacious and not having to navigate street parking is very convenient. It’s less than 5 minutes from PCH (hwy 1) and Newport Blvd (Hwy 55) which makes getting around very easy and quick. We went to other beaches, south Orange County, San Diego, and LAX. It’s very easy to get food delivered (we used ubereats a lot). Oh I almost forgot the upstairs cottage where grandma stayed. It’s larger than expected. Would be very comfortable for a couple and you could have someone over for a meal bc the living room is spacious. It didn’t seem to be recently renovated like the downstairs. The tv wasn’t as nice and we had trouble turning it on (worked once but not again?) and the air conditioning window unit was very loud and didn’t cool that well on the hotter days. We didn’t use the kitchen or spend much time up there bc the downstairs was our “main house”, so I can’t comment on all the amenities. But you could definitely use it as an extra bedroom like we did, or a separate apartment. All in all we loved the house and had a great trip! Ahoy!

Great sized two bedroom house and attached one bedroom apartment. Quick 2 minute walk to the beach. Would definitely recommend!

All the comforts of home can be found at The Pirate House! We thoroughly enjoyed our week-long stay and this perfectly located, safe and quiet neighborhood. Very affordable, plenty of space and very relaxing time spent here. Would not hesitate to return to Newport Beach and stay at The Pirate House again!

It was a short walk to the beach. Having a parking space in a garage was very convenient.

We enjoyed our stay with daughter and her two girls. Separate living spaces were very nice. The girls enjoyed the pirate costumes! Ideal location. Owner response was outstanding. Only suggestion I have is to add wall mounted dispensers for shamoo, conditioner and body wash we see in many ABB's.

Our family stayed in this cute little cottage for 5 days. We loved every minute! It is in such a great location and close to everything. We loved having the extra space upstairs and all the amenities provided at the house. We rode the house bikes nearly every day. The cottage is located very close to the beach and a few blocks from where the boardwalk starts so it was easy to get anywhere we needed to go. The outdoor shower was awesome so that we were able to keep the house sand-free! We loved the whole set up at the house and played cards at the booth kitchen table every night. The TV was awesome for watching sports and movies. A few close restaurant recommendations are Sancho's Tacos, Chronic Tacos, Mama D's and the Alley. All are walkable!

From the reviews and the description, we were expecting a good home to stay at on our visit to Newport Beach. But honestly, I don’t think the description did it justice. My family has been coming to Newport Beach for about 30 years. We’ve stayed at multiple houses. Many know they’ll be rented regardless of the state of the property. The thing that makes the pirate house unique, is not only the cleanliness and the updates, but also some of the attention to detail to make sure your stay is even more convenient. Labels on the drawers describing the contents, sandwhich baggies and tinfoil to take food to the beach for my kids, a nice grill to cook out (not a rusted out charcoal or gas grill). Beach chairs and boogie boards. An air compressor in the garage for tires. A Keurig coffee maker. We just really enjoyed this home. The owners were very easy to work with and obviously are invested in ensuring people staying here have an enjoyable time. Love The Pirate House!

The house is very comfortable. Loved having the upstairs unit my husband and I stayed there and the young adults stayed at the bottom house. We were all close but not too close 😀. The owner is great at responding. I highly recommend

We stayed for a week and the house was so clean and stocked so well. The beds were comfy, the pots and pans and kitchen utensils were in great condition. Everything you need for the beach was in the garage. The garage was very roomy for two cars but we opted to only have one with all the bikes. The front patio was enjoyable to read or hang out and the kids loved the huge tv at night to watch movies. It was very warm this time in Newport so we were so glad the house had AC. The owners were very helpful and quick to respond during the whole rental process. We would definitely rent the Pirate House again!

Everything was as advertised, clean and a great location!

Owners where amazing to work with. Very quick to answer any question about property and very quick to fix any problem. The priate theme was awesome from the home to costumes for kids.

first the home owner was great she let us know of up coming events, asked if we needed anything and was always quick to reply.

The pirate house was just right for our family. With the 1-br unit upstairs from the 2-br unit, it was so convenient for the grandparents to be close! Crystal was very responsive with any questions we had and had the units were all ready to welcome happy vacationers! We were so pleased at how clean the units were and the A/C was nice for our Arizona blood! We will definitely recommend this great vacation rental to others and hope to be back ourselves! We loved this house! It is clean and well kept, and the pirate theme is charming! Everything was perfect. We rented both units and were so happy! My family and I loved the private house. It provided us with all the amenities of home and much more. We loved that all the beach equipment was there and ready for us to use. The kids loved the space and the pirate them. We loved the location, large bath and comfortable beds. We will for sure rent this again.

4th year here and have already reserved for next year!! We unplug everything (sorry, we forgot to plug the TV back in :/) and just enjoy our family! This house is the perfect get away. The house itself is amazing, from the state of the art kitchen and bath to the wonderful location and amenities. We never move our car once we're here; it is convenient to everything - shopping, dining, boardwalk, beach, parks, and Starbucks! The outdoor shower is a great way to keep the beach outside and get the kids and beach gear squeaky clean. The garage is big and so is the washer and dryer. The fire pit is perfect for drowsy nights, Smores, and hotdogs. We always rent the upper apartment at the same time so the extended family can join us throughout the week. Adult kids and/or little ones???- this house is perfect!

Crystal was awesome, made everything very easy for our family. The house is perfect - we loved having plenty of bikes and beach gear. We also loved having A/C, shower outside (tankless water heater), three bathrooms (one in the garage), two car garage, bbq grill, etc. The main floor has everything we needed, the upstairs unit was perfect too. The location is great - even though the house sits on the corner of Balbao Ave, we didn't hear traffic at night. When we travel again to Newport Beach, we will stay here again. We comfortably slept seven on the main floor and two in the upper unit.

I can't even begin to tell you what a wonderful experience this was and how easy Crystal is to work with. I would highly recommend this home for anyone to stay in.

This was our family's third summer staying at the pirate house and it just keeps getting better and better! This home is perfect for kids of all ages! Our kids are now teenagers and young adults and with renting both the upper and lower units we had more than enough room! We spent the days in the surf, on bikes, and reading on the patio. Evening were filled with home cooked meals on the BBQ, card games around the table, and walks to the pier. The house is organized, comfortable, and very clean! The outdoor shower is great for getting the sand off before you come in and the washer and dryer are so convenient! The owners are terrific and they have thought of everything you need for a terrific stay at the beach! We can't wait to come back next year!

Our family just returned from one of the best vacations we have ever had thanks to this amazing home. We have 6 teenagers, so we rented both the upstairs and downstairs units as well as the bikes. The owners have thought of literally everything & the house is crazy organized. We played at the beach (which is just a few houses away) all day, rode bikes in the evening, enjoyed home cooked meals and s'mores by the firepit, and soaked in all the good vibes this home exudes. This home just feels so good! It is cozy, comfortable, and extremely clean. The owners are very responsive and made our first vacation rental experience pretty much perfect. Our kids already are planning our get away at the pirate house next summer! Thank you for such a warm home to make family memories!

My son and I stayed at this house for almost 2 months and he keeps asking to go back. The location is ideal--it's just 1 block from the beach and close to stores and restaurants. But first and foremost, it was the cleanest rental I have ever walked into. It has everything you need: beach toys, bikes, a fully stocked kitchen, games, plenty of linens, a washer and dryer, etc. And it's wonderfully decorated with comfortable furniture. Plus, the owners are super responsive. I highly recommend this house.

Fantastic location, exceptionally well maintained and very clean. Every amenity you need including bikes, boogie boards, etc. Great outdoor fire pit, with plenty of room for "front porch sittin'." The pirate theme is great fun and something to build a theme around for your week. My adult children were very creative with shirts, eye patches, pirate mugs, etc. Highly recommend this house. Best I've rented in 3 years. Will come back.

This was our families second time to stay here for a week and it was just as enjoyable as the first! This rental has everything you need to park the car once and never need it again the whole time you're there! The beds are so comfy and the sleeping arrangements work out terrific for our brood and the gourmet kitchen is equipped with everything you might need. Plus you have your own washer and dryer in the garage! We rented both units and that was terrific for the In Laws to have their own space and still all be together. It is perfect for our teenager and her friends. We love the location, outside shower, toys, bikes and proximity to the beach. We walked and biked each day and came back to a wonderful house for shrimp on the BBQ and a fire in the outside fire pit. We cant wait to make our reservations for next year!
