About this house rental
While away your vacation in St. Joe/Benton Harbor at one of the oldest homes in Hagar Township. The home was grandly modified from a farmhouse into the lake home of Al Capone’s attorney in the 1920’s.
The main house has nearly 3000 square feet and a 900 foot basement. It’s comes fully furnished as the vacation home of a Chicago family. Much of the space is left for a massive ground floor with plenty of space for entertaining. The house boasts new floors, kitchen, baths and updated amenities. There is a master bedroom, three bedrooms and an attic with a bunk bed and two singles.
A brand new heated pool 16x34 is ready to enjoy everyday (especially those non-beach days). Poolside you'll enjoy pool house with tv and air conditioning. A jacuzzi is also right there for a nice wind-down at night. A gas grill is also ready to use right outside the kitchen.
Enjoy two landscaped acres for dogs and kids. Mature trees abound and wonderful lake views are directly in front of the house. Enjoy the fire pit at night with a perfect view of the lake.
Also, the coach house provides parking for 1 and ample storage for the pool toys, games, balls and other amenities.
The house has plenty of outside parking for up to 8 cars if needed. While 300 feet from the bluff, the house does not have legal lake access. Hagar Beach (the township's public beach & park with great amenities for kids) is 1-2 miles north with quick access to a large, lower bank beach. Additionally, we recommend Jean Klock Beach 3 miles to the south.

This home is as advertised and the pictures are accurate, lots of room and very well equipped, the kitchen is very modern and has everything and some, it even had a fly swatter when we needed it. Our two year old grandson loved all the sun room toys. The patio is very spacious plenty of chairs, lounges etc. Lots of pool items too.
We used the guest house because we had a pet, the guest house is no where near as nice as the main house...but at least we were able to bring all our family. We had to ask Wes (owner) a few questions during our stay and he replied very promptly.
Tips for future renters: there is plenty of wood for the fire pit, but it is not split...I always bring my axe and sledge glad I did.

We had a fantastic stay at this property! The location was perfect for a quick trip into St. Joseph or up to South Haven, but provided the space and privacy we wanted. The grounds are large enough for a lot of activity (little ones riding bikes, playing the in yard, swimming, campfire, great patio) without feeling like you’re on top of each other and we barely saw any neighbors the entire time we were there. The space is very private which gave a nice intimate feeling to our trip. The house is spacious and updated throughout. The large, updated kitchen, with direct view/access to the pool/patio was a highlight. We used the main house and guest house. Guest house accommodations were just as expected. Not as nice as the main house, but worked perfect for our family of four with two small kids to provide a separate place to get naps/early bedtime without the excitement of the main house keeping them up. The house offered a large assortment of pool toys/floats etc. for extra fun and the room of kid toys was a hit with our toddler :) The very few questions I had for the owner during our trip were answered almost immediately (truly within 5 minutes). I would definitely recommend this place for a large family!

Great property with large grassy area for kids to play. Heated pool and hot tub were fantastic. Was able to enjoy the pool even when the weather wasn't so great. Large garage area was perfect to store bikes, golf clubs, etc. The fire pit had a nice view of the lake and was especially beautiful at sunset. The main home itself had a large and modern kitchen with plenty of space for preparing and entertaining a family of 15.
Owner was very responsive throughout the entire process. We would definitely go back here again!

We had a wonderful stay at this property! The pool was the highlight of the trip for our group and everything was top notch in the house. Super kid friendly and well stocked. We didn’t use the guest house and unsure if we would ever factor in that space for a group if we returned in the future. It’s a great idea and perhaps will be updated at some point, but as it is now, it had the feel of a college rental, which is the exact opposite of the main house which was a beautifully restored home. If one family in our group would have had to stay there, we would have had to draw straws. The main house was a 5 star property.
