About this cottage rental

If you want to experience living in a vintage 20's cottage in Saugatuck, Big Blue is the answer . Big Blue is a charming refurbished vintage 1920's cottage on the Hill, with all the eccentricities of an older home.

There are three large bedrooms, 2 queens and 1 set of twins, all with lovely wooden floors. The upstairs bathroom has a tub/shower combination and tile floors. The galley-size bathroom on the first floor has a step-in tiled shower and tile floors. The large living room/dining room has the original walnut paneling, with antique oak dining table and chairs and wicker and rattan couch and chairs. There is a screened in porch through the sliding glass doors in the dining room where you can sit and have your morning coffee and listen to the birds. The kitchen is huge, completely furnished, with lots of counter space for cooking or projects.

Rainy Days? Connect to WIFI, stream your favorite channels or play any of the numerous games and puzzles.

Outside are 3 different decks, all attached with 2 different seating options. The huge back yard has mature trees and plants and is so peaceful. Big Blue comfortably fits 6 people with plenty of space to do your own thing. There is a washer, dryer, and high chair.

THE FIREPLACE IS NON-OPERATIONAL AND WE DO NOT ALLOW FIREPITS.

We love dogs!. As there is not a fenced in backyard, we ask that you be outside with them. We do have a pet fee.

Big Blue is just 7 blocks from downtown Saugatuck; an easy walk to shopping and restaurants. Plenty of parking on site (but don't park under the walnut tree--those can dent your car or head).

Parking is not an issue as you will have the whole driveway to yourselves.

Saugatuck has recently passed strict Short Term Rental Ordinances. We are in a quiet residential neighborhood and Quiet Time is from 11:00 on.

Please observe the 11:00 quiet time ordinance.

Big Blue has a 6 person occupancy limit determined by the Fire Department. Please observe this limit.

This was our third time staying at Big Blue and we love it! Very clean, quiet, conveniently located near shops and restaurants, and the owners are friendly and communicative. We love Saugatuck in the fall and can’t wait to come back next year!

The location is great about 3 blocks from downtown. The front screened in porch is amazing and a huge kitchen table. The downstairs bathroom leaves alot to be desired. The shower fan was broken and made a horrible noise. They had to come disconnect it and put in a light bulb. That bathroom had no window treatments and we had to cover it with a towel and duck tape. It was wide open for the neighbors to see in. The sink in that bathroom is about the size of a 1950's water fountain with a kitchen faucet on it. The mirror is of no use. The upstairs bathroom needs new shower curtains as they were rust colored on the bottom. The bathroom door handle fell off from just pulling it. They came and fixed it and it broke the night before we left. I gently pulled the door and it came off in my hand. The drain for the washer was backed up on the day we came. They did fix it and we were able to get a load of laundry done. They did not have any washing machine detergent, coffee filters, and the bathroom soaps and shampoos were probably bottles left by previous guests. We had brought our own. For the price we paid I expected it to be cleaner and stocked. The owner was prompt when we let him know we did not have detergent to wash our clothes and brought it right over. Same with the coffee filters. Just things that should have been done before we got there and not have to ask for. The owner/property manager was super responsive and did bring over a puzzle and found an extra
