About this house rental
Experience instant relaxation when setting foot into this beautiful vintage beachfront house with 180 degree views of the Oregon coastline. The mid century design is an open-plan with the living room, dining room, and kitchen all comprising one great room with a wall of windows looking out over sand dunes and partial views of the crashing surf. Great deck facing the beach and front sand "yard" with fire pit and play area for kids and adults.
Our house is a vintage 1960s house (read: not a new build). It is remodeled, but definitely still has "vintage charm". If this appeals to you, great! If not, there are lots of new modern rentals available in Manzanita.
The kitchen is fully equipped for group cooking, and the dining area seats 12 (8 at a table, 4 more at a bar height counter). The house sleeps 10 in 4 bedrooms (1 King, 1 Queen, pair of Twins, Bunk Room with 2 sets of bunk beds with twin mattresses).
Other amenities include: wood burning fireplace, wifi, a TV cart (with Netflix, and Apple TV – no cable), a game room with ping pong table, a washer/dryer, high chair, portable crib ('Pack n' Play'), BOB single stroller (front wheel locks for jogging), 2 adult beach cruiser bikes. Parking for 2 cars max.
In front of the house, a 100 yard path leads through sand dunes to 7 miles of sandy beach. From the house it is a 10 minute walk (3/4 mile) up the beach to the small, friendly town of Manzanita. The area is a natural paradise that includes hiking trails through old growth forests with incredible ocean vistas, miles of bike paths in Nehalem Bay State Park (1/2 mile), surfing at Oswald State Park/Short Sands (10 min drive), fishing in Nehalem River, and crabbing in Nehalem Bay. Golfers will enjoy Manzanita's beautiful and challenging nine hole course (1/3 mile).

Best property for family with kids. Ranch. No stairs. Large sandy area in front with fire pit. Lots of games. Ping pong table. Sand wagon. Sand toys. Sand chairs. Firewood. 4th bedroom for kids with bunk beds. Large washer and dryer. Lots of windows. Great place! Very clean home. Heat in bathroom and bedrooms.

Here are some of the things we really appreciated: Besides the deck, fire pit, easy access to beach, as many others have pointed out, we loved the LIGHT! Especially the skylight in main kitchen / living area; I appreciated that there was an apron I could use, and sharp knives (I usually bring my own, but forgot); The cleaning staff left some condiments in the fridge (in spite of the "empty it all when leaving" message); The TV was in a closet, not out in the open. You needed to roll it out to use it (so it didn't automatically tempt kids to pine for it, or my husband zone out... though the kids did watch a couple shows (as bribes.); There was a sewing repair kit. We used it more than once; The laminated list of kids' activities included an indoor pool in Nehaven (?) 10 minutes away. I was curious and so went to check it out. As a regular lap swimmer, I know a great pool when I visit one. The center is superbly designed. I loved it; Never did get into Nehaven's Wanda's Bakery though, as the parking area was always jammed. Next time! The only thing I found lacking at this property was a small pencil sharpener to sharpen pencils when keeping game scores. That's a pretty tiny thing!

A lovely property that is well equipped to meet any needs-fully equipped kitchen, wi-fi, laundry, game room with ping pong and a lot of card and board games, bicycles and beach items, etc. Beds were comfortable and there was plenty of hot water. Kitchen had a large variety of items to support food prep. Fireplace was cozy on a cool night and fire pit with wood and chairs created an evening ambience we will remember for a long time. The view is fantastic and deer and elk walked through to give us a thrill. Short walk to the beach and all of the above made this a perfect location!

We had a fantastic stay. My kids loved the bunk beds and ping pong table right outside their room. The entire house is well stocked, with everything from baking dishes to Band-Aids. The adults enjoyed the walk down the beach to explore the town. There are many cute shops, restaurants, and friendly people. We enjoyed the Offshore Grill and Manzanita Coffee Co.
