You are only minutes away from Vallecito Lake and the town of Durango has some of the best river rafting and mountain biking in Colorado. Durango is only a thirty minute drive along a beautiful, winding country road, where you are bound to see elk and deer on the rolling hillsides.

We were 2 adults with a dog, The pictures are accurate, situated in woodland with morning deer visits. We wanted to explore the Durango area and spent a couple of days driving but spent most days of the stay hiking on the trails round the nearby Vellicito Rez or canoeing. We would definatly return if we are in the area.

Nice above-garage apartment in a forest near a river and reservoir. If you're looking for peace and quiet in a remote area, this is the place. Host was very friendly and communicative when we had an issue with the hot water. The reservoir has a very "Northeastern US lake" vibe. Overall, my wife and I enjoyed our weeklong stay here.

Tis was absolutely a great place to stay. We were there for six nights. The Zoll's have done an excellent job of preparing a place to visit. The apartment was well appointed and had everything we needed for the stay. If you are looking for a quiet laid back place this is it. The kitchen area is terrific. We loved the time there. We would go back here in a heartbeat.The Zoll's are taking every precaution, following good Covid-19 guidelines. Even the plates and dishes we used were completely sterilized after we left. We felt completely safe.About the river. It does run right below the cabin. You can hear it sitting out on the balcony. You cannot reach the river directly from the cabin. This is not a drawback however. There is a good road that leads right down to it. There is good parking at that spot. It can be walked, but I preferred to go in the car with my fishing gear. There are entry points to the river at that spot and downstream.This is a great rental for anyone wanting to stay in the Vallecito area. It is about a 30 minute drive into Durango. Set your GPS as you come in from Durango or Bayfield to find the entrance to the subdivision. It can be tricky finding it the first time. Choose this place for a wonderful quiet time in SW Colorado.
