About this cottage rental

This cottage is close to the beach & family friendly. The location is perfect and the cozy cottage feel is warm and relaxing. It is great for couples or families(with kids of all ages). A beach cottage for sure! 1/2 block to all shops, restaurants & water is 1 block in either direction.
This rental is street level with a wonderful front patio perfect for grilling and relaxing on one of our Adirondack /rocking chairs. Step inside through the Dutch front door and you have a spacious living room. All 3 bedrooms have ceiling fans. This is a 3 bedroom and 1 very large bath with a large shower and double sinks. It has a galley kitchen, breakfast room and living room. Very light and bright, a perfect location to access everything on the island! Our unit sleeps up to 7 people. 3 queens, as well as one queen memory foam sleeper sofa in the living room . The owners have the upstairs for their family, but it is separate in every way. Balboa Island is the perfect beach vacation! One block either direction to water where paddle boarding is a must! The island is made for walking and biking. A short walk to the ferry takes you right to the sand where you can surf and boogie board. No need to drive at all! Everything is right here just waiting for you.

Very comfortable and actually roomy cottage on the island. The owner's hospitality was on full display when we walked through the door and found a note and a treat from the local bakery! Great little cottage, stocked with everything you need. We enjoyed grilling out and had a family dinner outside on the patio. The owner was so nice and helpful.The island is very walkable, with cute shops and restaurants. We had a great time taking the ferry to the peninsula, where we rented bikes for the day. This was a fun "touristy" thing I never did during the 20 yrs I lived there. To really enjoy CA beaches, it's worth it to go to Crystal Cove State Beach because it's clean and no crowds. If you want to get a taste of what CA was like "back in the day," this cute cottage is a comfy hub for your stay.

We just returned from a wonderful week down on Balboa Island! Lori went above and beyond to make our stay exceptional! The property is very well kept and was spotless upon our arrival. We had our three young children with us and the layout was perfect, lots of games and toys to keep the entertained. Walkable to all our favorite restaurant and beaches! We are already working on finding another week to head back down :) Can’t wait to be sitting on the cute little patio come summer time!

Very walkable to everything you will need on Balboa Island. The home is one block in from the cutest main shopping street, which has restaurants, coffee shops, clothing stores and a supermarket. The host has put together a fantastic booklet of recommendations and information about the island as well as the area outside of the island. The home is clean and cozy, and we liked all of the natural light it gets. The front outdoor porch area has a large table and grill, and the living room was spacious and comfortable plus included a shelf with many games & books. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything we needed. We would highly recommend this home for a great family stay on Balboa Island!

First, location is great. 1 block to shops and restaurants and about 7 blocks to ferry that takes you to Newport Beach. The bay is 2 blocks to each side. Next, the house is great. Able to seat 11 people on fhe deck for dinner with a grill. Beds are super comfy and large, well stocked bathroom. Beach towels provided along with boogie boards!! The living room is right off the front door with 2 couches and 4 chairs. Perfect for family game night or movie night. Can’t say enough good things! Hated to leave but will be back.

We had a wonderful time staying at this property. It is absolutely adorable. And the location cannot be beat. So close to the Main Street of shopping and restaurants. The decor is darling and the bedrooms are so comfortable. Lori was a wonderful, thoughtful host. The place is even better than the photos. The front porch is huge. Even though there is only one bathroom, it is very large with double sinks. We had a very busy weekend with friends stopping in and we were all very comfortable. We didn’t cook in because we were so close to restaurants. The island is so much fun!! We are coming back for sure!

The house is so nice and very comfortable. The beds are quite comfortable as well. This was a four girl weekend and there was plenty of room and the bathroom is quite large. We had fun hanging out on the front porch, playing board games (many in the house to choose from). Walking around the island is a must as is shopping in the great boutique stores on Marine Ave. We never left the island except one night to walk to Bayside Restaurant for dinner. Lori the host was fabulous and friendly and great at communication before and during our stay. I would definitely rent this home again.

This house is adorable! The owner, Lori, is communicative, welcoming and thoughtful. We arrived to a delicious pound cake loaf on the kitchen table. The beds are comfortable and sheets soft and lovely. The kitchen is well stocked. The patio was perfect for lounging and dinners. This house is close to everything. We rented bikes and took a Duffy boat cruise and never used our car. Would highly recommend this rental.

Our trip to Maui was canceled due to the heartbreaking fires. We found this cottage last minute and felt so blessed. Lori is truly the most thoughtful hostess. The property was perfect! From beach towels, portable crib, sand toys, boogie boards, sand chairs, laundry, comfy beds, clean and delightful! The front porch was our favorite spot! We ate all our meals, played games, completed a 500 piece puzzle, and snuggled up with good books and conversation. Our 13 month old grandson was in heaven on the beach! There is an area to spray off toys and sandy toes. Lori has thought of everything! A charming, little jewel!

Our family had the best time in this beautiful beach home that is perfectly situated one block from Marine, and central to both sides of the island. The home was very clean, accommodating, with comfortable beds/pillows. We never had to turn on the air, due to the cool ocean breeze in the evening. Lori couldn’t have been more welcoming. We had the best time spending a day on the peninsula for a beach day, and went whale watching (we saw a blue whale breach 4x, saw 2 sea turtles and the bottle nose dolphins surfed our wake). We also enjoyed a sunset Duffy rental, joined with friends. Our morning and nightly walks around the island were relaxing. We definitely hope to return soon!

Everything about this home and host was top-notch. Aside from having stocked the kitchen with just about everything we needed to prepare meals in the cottage, Lori also left us a freshly baked chocolate chip pound cake as a special treat for my adult son's birthday. As we were also traveling with my son's young family, Lori also offered the use of a port a crib and baby gate! On top of that, she provided boogie boards and umbrellas for us to use at the beach, all of which greatly reduced what we needed to bring. Speaking of the beach, the cottage is just a block and half to the beaches on either side of the island and even closer to the town! Having spent summers on the island as a child, this was an absolutely perfect trip down memory lane to be able to experience with my own son and grandsons. We will most definitely be back!

We LOVED it! Perfect for our girls weekend. The cottage was in a great location to walk around to dinner and shops. We rented bikes per Lori's suggestion and had a great time. The cottage had everything we needed to cook our own meals, it was cozy and clean and cute we enjoyed hanging out telling stories. We highly recommend this beautiful cottage and hope to return! Lori is a fabulous host … from her thorough communication, to the seamless arrival process, to the warm welcome note and delicious cinnamon bread and coffee that awaited us, no detail was overlooked!
