About this house rental
Are water sports your thing? Come stay on beautiful Lake Summit. It's THE place to get wet! Enjoy everything from motorboat sports to first class fishing or just getting a tan. For anglers, it's home to dozens of species of fish. The Green River runs right through it so you can take your canoe up river all the way to the head waters for great trout fishing. It's only 30 minutes from the best trout streams around, the Mills, Davidson and Green Rivers. (You will need a NC resident or nonresident fishing license if you don’t have one.) There's a kayak for guest use or you can bring your boat with a registration fee of $60. We have a boathouse and dock to make your stay even better... perfect for tanning, eating lunch on the picnic table or just reading a book. For the athletes, it is a great place to take a long run or bike ride around the long, winding perimeter road…it’s about 9 miles around the lake.
The house has two bedrooms with a queen bed in each and 1½ baths (the half bath/laundry room is accessible from a boardwalk that wraps around the exterior left side of the house so you don’t have to go through the house wet), wood floors, tall ceilings, large kitchen, comfortable beds, great linens, and a large covered front porch with a poetic view of the lake. There's a TV and DVD player, but no cable, wi-fi or satellite...but who needs it when you have all that water to play in, right?
We have repeat guests that have stayed with us for years and we’d love for you to come for your own stay. We also host families whose children attend one of the three summer camps on the lake. It’s really a wonderful spot.

For us, there is no better place to relax and recharge our batteries than Lake Summit and a week at this property was no exception. I was worried at first about the lack of satellite and internet service but the fact is that made it even better. The house is small and simple (and clean!) and the folks managing it are delightful. Check-in couldn't have been easier and within minutes we were sitting on the porch unwinding with cocktails.
This end of the lake gets the midday and afternoon sun, so for the least sunburn, get out early or just be sure to wear plenty of sunscreen if you go out later. It's not obvious from the road but the location of the boathouse and the next door neighbor's property makes a nice little cove to float in without drifting into the boating traffic.
The bathroom takes a little getting used to. The tub inside the shower is odd and it takes some fiddling to get the shower curtain just right so the water doesn't spray beyond the enclosure. The water heats fast, though, and the pressure is great.
Closets, like the rest of the house, are small. We used one bedroom for sleeping and the other for dressing but we tend to sprawl.
We had a great time here and will definitely include it on our list of go-to properties on the lake, especially when it's just the two of us.
