PARKING FOR 3 OR 4 VEHICLES AT REAR OF CABIN. WIFI THROUGHOUT. SATELLITE TV (DIRECT TV) ON 1ST AND 2D FLOORS. LOTS OF PINE TREES SURROUNDING THE CABIN. CAN HIKE TO THE TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN AND VIEW LAKE VALLECITO (45 MIN HIKE) DEER ARE USUALLY PLENTIFUL AND OTHER WILD CREATURES AS WELL.

After 5 summers of a 1 week rental somewhere in Colorado, this is the best of the best. For our family of 8 adults and 2 small children, the Mayfields’ beautiful cabin was perfect, and Michael was the perfect host. Everything was exceptionally clean and in working condition. The layout allowed privacy for reading or napping, with multiple other gathering spaces for family meals and board games. Our last night we gathered out on the upper deck to gaze at the Milky Way and spot meteorites. We appreciated that there are more than adequate bathroom facilities—one on each floor. Some previous guests had critiqued the rather steep driveway. But that has been recently paved and should no longer be a challenge for any vehicle. We enjoyed proximity to Mesa Verde National Park for a day trip and Durango for short trips to a fun children’s park, disc golf courses, restaurants/breweries, and thrift store shopping. Some of us hiked all the way up the mountain behind the cabin (bushwhacking until we happened on a groomed trail) and enjoyed the vista down to the Vallecito Reservoir—which we visited one day also, hiking the family friendly Vallecito Creek Trail. All in all, this place is a winner. The only downside is that any future rental will pale in comparison.

We took our family to Colorado for vacation and stayed here for a week. The log home is beautiful and perfect for a large family. We had everything we needed! The views are amazing and if you love the outdoors this is the place for you, we hiked every day. We were grateful we had SUV's rented,the driveway required them.
