About this villa rental
"Ginger & Cacao" is a sanctuary like organic luxury property of one acre of lush tropical jungle with ocean views. Overlooking the Atlantic, at 10 min walk to Punta Uva beach, one of the most beautiful in Costa Rica.
Its layout, with individual homes surrounded only by nature, provides for a relaxing vacation.
Ginger & Cacao includes two villas and a cottage, a pool with leisure area and pool pavilion with swinging beds, and caretakers' cottage, with the property laundry.
Please note the multiple options for rent:
1. RENT THE ENTIRE PROPERTY - this option includes renting the two villas Ginger and Cacao (current listing #754932) and the White Cottage, separate listing #750426. This option sleeps max 10 adults and children included. Please contact the host to book.
2. Rent the two villas as listed ( sleeps max 8 - adults and children included).
3. Rent one of the two villas, each one for max 4 guests, adults and children included. Please contact the host for this option.

"Ginger & cacao" is perfect for individual vacations, family gatherings, small weddings parties and honeymoons.
Each house in the property has its own space and privacy, and each one is unique. High ceilings, hardwood floors, massive wooden doors and large decks complete the villas’ elegant furnishings. Each house has free WiFi and TV/cable. Ceiling and portable fans ventilate every space in the villas, sliding mosquito screens are installed on every door and window.
Villa Cacao is build at the elevated portion of the property, it has fantastic ocean and jungle views from all rooms. The villa has one master suit with a queen size bed and an ensuite full bath with indoor and outdoor showers. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher including, and bar which connects it with the large deck. The sitting area has a dedicated full bath and is beautifully furnished with two sofa beds that are set up for comfortable sleeping. Villa Cacao shares the parking bellow the cottage. A private path takes you to the beautiful pool area.
Villa Ginger is nested into the surrounding jungle with views of it from every single window and decks. The villa has two air conditioned bedrooms with queen size beds, one full bathroom with jungle views. In addition, ceiling fans in each space keep the villa fresh and well ventilated. The fully equipped kitchen with dining area connects with two large decks. The front deck has sitting area is furnished with a table, chairs, chases and umbrellas. The villa has its own parking space at the front. A minute walk on paved path will take you to the pool area.
Both villas have safe deposit boxes installed in the bedroom wardrobes. Please secure all your valuables and close/lock all windows and doors before leaving the property.

The White Cottage, the third house at the property, is build under huge trees and next to the pool. The ocean views from its large verandas are terrific. The cottage is full of light. Its style & design truly reflect the owner’s ideas for beach comfort. This cottage is perfect for honeymoon vacations.
The beautiful pool area, surrounded by jungle and gardens, includes a pavilion with swinging daybeds, and a leisure area with chaises and umbrellas.
The pool area is the perfect spot to see large families of capuchin and howling monkeys raiding the treetops, and to observe the amazing toucans on nearby trees.
The property is interesting to explore. It consists of authentic tropical jungle with landscaped bromelia gardens around each house, and plants with lots of colors and fragrance. The numerous cacao trees and ginger plants inspired the name, “Ginger & Cacao”.
The property is maintained by caretakers. For your service and convenience, they reside in a separate cottage on the property grounds by the gate.
‘ Ginger & Cacao” is perfectly located at just short walk to Punta Uva Beach, one of the most striking in Costa Rica. A rare place, still kept as natural as possible, with a minimum negative impact of over-development. Here is where the jungle meets the white sand beach with its emeralds waters, and the almond trees to provide a natural shade. It’s not crowded and it's safe for swimming, kayaking and snorkeling.
In Punta Uva one feels in complete connection with nature. There is nothing more beautiful than to get on a bicycle and go for an early morning ride to Gandoca- Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge. There is so much life and activity in the jungle at this time of the day. Howling monkeys call from the tree tops, butterflies, and birds flying around searching for food.
Punta Uva is a very private area, removed from the traffic and congestion in areas closer to Puerto Viejo. There are a few excellent restaurants, grocery stores, bike & tuk-tuk rentals. And if you choose, you can quickly get to Puerto Viejo, by car or bicycle.
At night, the action happens in Puerto Viejo. It might look a bit shabby, but give it some time and it will grow on you. The somewhat sleepy village turns vibrant at night, full of life and music, with the smell of food coming from all directions. Ocean-front bars blast reggae and calypso. Shops stay open till late hours.
“Ginger & Cacao” offers an exiting and safe place to stay in the middle of the jungle, and a fantastic opportunity for a memorable experience of the Caribbean Costa Rica.

Our stay at Ginger and Cacao was nothing short of magical and has easily become one of the most favorite places I’ve ever stayed in Costa Rica — and I’ve spent quite a bit of time here.The ocean view with the cozy deck, extremely abundant wildlife, and the stunning, immaculately clean pool created a feeling of total serenity. The home and property were beautifully maintained, and every detail reflected care, intention, and love. The host and caregivers were truly top-notch — warm, attentive, and thoughtful. They respected our privacy while also being available for anything we needed. Throughout our stay, we felt completely safe and secure, which allowed us to truly unwind and be present in the enjoyment of our travel experience.The aesthetic, layout, and functionality of Ginger and Cacao are exceptional — it’s a work of art, equal parts luxurious and grounding. The location is perfect: just a five-minute walk to the beach, close to town yet tucked away enough to feel peaceful, private, and deeply connected to nature — a little slice of paradise that still feels untouched and authentic.I feel incredibly blessed and grateful to have stayed somewhere so special. Ginger and Cacao is the kind of place that stays with you long after you leave. I can’t wait to return! Paradise!!

For those not looking for a party scene but a relaxing Holiday, THIS is the spot! Close enough to town by way of taxi or bicycle and far enough away to feel like you are literally in the middle of the jungle. The house had all you need for daily life i.e cooking & eating utensils, Towels & toiletries and endless supply of coffee to keep you going. Pablo and Sandra are AMAZING! Helpful with ANY needs! Z, the owner was more than informative, helpful and responsive. Helping us with transfers from/to the airport, chef coming to the house for a special dinner and suggestions for excursions!!It's absolutely true, you WILL see Monkeys ,Sloths, Tucans, Iguanas all right from the property! The pool is a special spot at this house. So relaxing and a perfect place to relax!HIGHLY recommend this property!
