About this house rental
This beautiful home is located on a bluff overlooking Lighthouse Beach. It offers a 180-degree vista of the lighthouse, beach and Coos Bay jetty. The 2000 square foot house has private beach access. Each room offers an ocean view.
There is a private stairway to the beach exclusively for our renters. Without public stairs, Lighthouse Beach is difficult to access, making it the ideal destination for a quiet getaway. It is a large sandy beach, with plenty of surf for boarders, wood for bonfires, and tide pools teeming with ocean life. There is something here for everyone in your family! And for those less adventuresome, you can enjoy watching boats crossing the bar and pelicans fishing without setting foot outside.
Our home is walking distance from Shore Acres State Park with botanical gardens, which boasts some of the state’s most beautiful walks along ocean cliffs. During high tides, the surf crashing against the rocks and the resultant spray is one of nature’s spectacular displays. The home is also in close proximity to Sunset Bay, which offers wonderful tidepooling, swimming, and sea kayaking. And for golfers, we’re just a 30-minute drive from world-renowned Bandon Dunes courses!

Beautiful property on a lovely stretch of the Oregon coast. Several points of interest: lighthouse, beaches, gardens, and cute shops and restaurants.Ready to go back!

House has a cool retro vibe with comfy beds and out-of-this-world ocean views. Easy location for visiting North Bend/Coos Bay, but Charleston itself is worth a weekend.Great communication and easy check in too!

I stayed here with my teenagers while we were in the area for State Basketball. We had so much fun here. The view was amazing. The house was clean and had everything we needed. It was nice having a private walk to the beach.

Enjoyed very much our stay at the Beautiful Beachfront Home on Lighthouse Beach. Excellent location to enjoy the Oregon coast. The home was well maintained, clean, stocked, and the beds comfortable. Enjoyed the views from the large windows and patio. Especially enjoyed listening to the ocean waves and access to the beach.

October weather sunny & less windy. House around 1 corner from Sunset Bay State Park. Charleston less than 2 miles away. Chuck’s Seafood Market had local oysters, shrimp, fish and delicious smoked salmon (not crab season 😭). Fisherman’s Grotto - excellent lunch & dinner.

We loved our stay. It was both relaxing and comfortable. The views from the home are spectacular…we loved the view of the lighthouse! We enjoyed falling asleep to the sound of crashing waves. Excellent family time playing games and walking on the beach. A short drive to many restaurants and shops. Would definitely visit again!

This is one of the best VRBOs I have stayed at. The ocean views are breathtaking and the retro house with wall to wall windows overlooking the Pacific is all anyone could ask for. The sunsets were stunning. The house has direct access to the beach via a few flights of stairs, but the effort is worth it if you want to dip your toes in the ocean or explore the sea creatures during low tide. Lots of take out options in Coos Bay — I would definitely recommend the German restaurant in town. You can’t go wrong staying here.

This is our favorite ever rental, out of about 2 dozen experiences.
It's not the newest or the oldest property we have enjoyed and we do like the experience of older places when we've done that. This is in excellent shape in an amazing location on a tip of the coastal cliffs.
The house is probably late 60's or early 70's but kept and updated very well. The yard is immaculate, like a secret garden. It has an oven/range that is vintage early space age, and ceiling heat.
You are immersed in comfortable sunlight all day and watch the sun set on the ocean right next to a historic lighthouse. While the necessarily steep stairway down the cliff to the beach needs to navigated carefully, the beach is largely inaccessible otherwise, and you are treated to rocks and tidepools.
Whales can be seen when the time is right, and the constant incoming waves are a perfect sound machine at night.
Everything comes together in a way that we felt "at home" here unlike anyplace else.

Stayed here with my family and we loved it. The view was amazing. We walked down to the beach every day. The house was clean and well stocked.

Gail was very helpful with check-in process. She gave us a call before checking in and gave us some good advice and tips. The home was very clean and also well stocked. We did not even realize that there was an upper level to the home, but we did not need it, so we just kept it closed off. We only slept in the downstairs bed and it was very comfortable. The living area was cozy, comfy and warm. The views were amazing. Private beach access is there, but not for the weak. Slide resistant paper has been added to the stairs, so that was nice. Bastendorf Beach is just a mile away, and that is my absolutely favorite place to walk the beach. I cannot say enough good things about how well stocked and clean the house was. Also, the house is very solid and well built. No creeky floors! The design of the house is very interesting and unique. I love this house and would love to bring my grandkids here for a family vacation. It is the perfect house for it. Only issue we had was that we had a difficult time trying to figure how how to use the remote on the tv. There is no guide or way to tell what channel the tv is on, and it froze quite a bit. Gail offered her phone number to us if we had any problems, so I know that we could have gave her a phone call to troubleshoot, however, we just could not make time to do so because we were too busy enjoying the sights during the daytime. I would suggest giving the tv a try upon check in, and give her a call if you have trouble with it.

Beautiful home with incredible lighthouse & ocean views! I really like that it is close to the state parks & the hiking trails as well as having access to the beach. The architecture is amazing in that it was designed so you could see the ocean from almost every room in the house. The built in shelves & closets and all the furnishings throughout the home are so warm and comfortable. I Love that a lot of the artwork was painted by the original owner. The 50’s retro style of the kitchen & bathrooms are absolutely charming and it was so nice to have the use of utensils, glasses & China that are not just plastic. Truly a pleasurable & memorable experience!

We absolutely adored our stay at this lovely home! The views from the house are absolutely breathtaking! I lived in this area for many years, and I don’t think I’ve ever been in a home with these amazing vistas! The house was obviously built to fully take advantage of these views-we laughed about the architect being “allergic” to 90 degree angles! I did some baking for a family reunion ( and btw, the kitchen is very well stocked,) and became acquainted with the 60s era funky oven and stove! Quite an adventure, but all my pastries turned out fine. The steps to the beach can be an adventure-one I opted out of-but the others managed, and loved walking the beach! Gail was very easy to contact-we had some misadventures when one part of our party was sidelined with illness. We will definitely return here in future trips to Coos Bay! I can’t imagine a lovelier place!

This beautiful house waa perfect for us. The views were spectacular despite the fog and cooler temps. We had our first whale sighting (for us) in the Cape Arago beach below the house. We will most definitely be back.

The property was clean and comfortable with a unique mid-century style. King bed downstairs, a queen and 3 twins upstairs. 1 bath up and 1 bath down.
The view was awesome!
My sister and I took our 84-yr old mom (and her young kiddos). We watched the fishing boats heading out to sea from the deck and the evening sunsets were gorgeous! Very close proximity to Sunset Bay and Shore Acres.
We really enjoyed our time; the property owners were terrific!
Thank you, Gail and team!

My fourth Lighthouse Beach vacation rental. Best ever. So clean, beautiful and well equipped. The views and location are perfect.
The king bed had wonderful bedding, comfortable, slightly firmer than I prefer. My son was not impressed with the queen bed upstairs.

Simply put, this was the best rental house we’ve ever had, and it’s not particularly close. The house sits in an stunningly gorgeous spot above Lighthouse Beach with a full view of the Cape Arago Lighthouse from pretty much every room. It doesn’t even look real. It is extremely well maintained and renovated inside except for some very cool throwbacks (the oven/range looks to be original to the house and is amazing). Direct beach access from the backyard. 25-30 mins from Coos Bay and Bandon, it’s a great spot for those on a golf trip, if you’re into hiking some Oregon trails, or just for a quiet getaway. Wish we never had to leave and hope to make it back one day. Such an awesome experience, I can’t recommend it more highly.

Stayed for 6 nights and loved every minute. View from the house and back deck can't be beat and the stairs/path down to the beach are well maintained. Kitchen was well stocked and the entire house was perfectly clean. Can't wait to visit again.

Favorite by far on the Southern Oregon coast. Uniquely comfortable home, thoughtful design, so functional & easy to sit, relax, create, enjoy. Stunning setting. Loved this stay.

We enjoyed celebrating our grandson’s sixth birthday here. The house worked great for a crabbing location. Enough space for a six year old to have some distance from an 18 month old. The kitchen is one of the best I’ve had in a long time. The old stove worked great and double ovens was a bonus when cooking. Steps to beach not too bad. The views are wonderful. The house was laid out nicely, in warmers weather the patio would be great. Good washer and dryer, comfortable beds and furniture. Fireplace worked well, it was nice to have precut dry wood in the shed. On rainy days we played in the immaculate garage. We have rented in the area about ten times, this is our favorite so far.
Enjoyed a really good meal with great service at the Portside restaurant.

From the moment we walked in, we knew we found our new favorite place. It has everything we were looking for…lots of room, fully stocked kitchen, beach access, and views from every room! We were visiting our sons who play soccer at SWOCC and followed the team to every game for over a month . Out of the 4 places we stayed, this was by far our favorite. :)

That killer view overrides everything, so don't hesitate to book your stay here!
Positives
1. View, view, and view!
2. Overall, nice and clean. (see comments about downstairs bedroom below)
3. Lots of puzzles and other items like ping-pong table, portable Webber grill, items for the beach, etc.
4. Nice and quite, except for the waves crashing along the shore. Just what you want and expect!
Not necessarily negatives but quirky?
1. Needs a few updates like the stove, (although part of the charm) and the downstairs bathroom where the sink & counter are low, and the shower head is low. (I am 5'3" and I just fit under it) One mystery was the way you turn on the shower. We had to ask for directions on how to do this. (the shower faucet has a spigot/ring that you have to pull down) We never used the upstairs, so no review for that area.
2. Downstairs bedroom. The rug has a couple of spots, and there was an odor that was a mixture of grandma's old house, wood, and wet dog? (odd, as pets are not allowed) The good news...you get used to it, as it's more subtle than overwhelming. Really though, how much time are you going to spend in that room anyway?
2. Previous visitor(s) used the fireplace, so we had to close the damper, and open the sliding door to air out the smoke smell. Easy fix!
3. No lock on sliding glass door in living/dining room area. You have to use a wood dowel for the locking device.
4. No screen for that same sliding door, so bugs are able to get in if you leave it open. If you are spending most of your time outside, this is a minor irritant.
5. No shades in the living/dining room area, so sun really blinds you in the late afternoon/evening. It would be great if there was an outside back table with an umbrella. That way you can block out the sun, have a nice glass of wine, and enjoy the view/sunset without experiencing that blinding glare.
Other Items
1. Instead of wood benches, back deck needs better safety railings around the whole parameter.
2. If you have a disability, or are a person with balance or other physical challenges, stairs to the beach are not for you! VERY steep! Good news, there is a lovely beach with easy access just down the road.
3. When I looked at the pictures, I thought there was a fire pit with chairs all around. This is in the neighbors yard, so no chance for making smores.
Bottom Line,
Overall, a wonderful place and worth the money.

The weekend away was amazing! The house is perfect, well stocked cute decor. The view was so amazing and being right on the beach was the best! We saw tons of star fish along with lots of other fun ocean things. The weather was perfect. Not even enough wind to fly kites which is crazy. The house is top in our list!!

This property is stunning, so well outfitted, comfortable, cozy and the views are breathtaking. Access to the beach out backyard was convenient (albeit very steep) and led to a beautiful beach with barely anyone else on it. So many beaches just a short drive away and shore acres which is beautiful with such interesting history. It was the best beach rental I've ever experienced in Oregon (and we live in Oregon so have rented numerous throughout the years). We will definitely be back to rent this one again and again.

This was our third visit. If you love watching the ocean, as we do, this is the house for you. Mid-century modern, windows and views. Yes, there is a stair-way to the beach and it's slippery and treacherous. There's a great walking beach a short drive away.
