Harbor View Condo! (Blue Water Suite)

My husband wanted an active vacation for our 38th anniversary, and San Juan Island didn’t disappoint. We really didn’t need a car to enjoy kayaking, whale watching, hiking, e-bikes all around the island. It was a spectacular location for all.

Great location! Easy access to restaurants, ferry & shopping. Very comfortable. Clean & had everything we needed. Ear plugs were a great suggestion as early morning ferries & traffic are loud. Handheld shower & large tub took some agility. Would definitely stay again.

The location is very convenient since it’s downtown. It overlooks the water and has everything you need. We enjoyed our stay.

This location was perfect! Amazing view of the harbor and so many shops/restaurants with in walking distance. The only tips I would give is to bring ear plugs as the ferry traffic and street traffic can get loud at night. Also prepare for parking. Street parking is pretty limited.

It was our anniversary trip and Harbor View was a great location for us to walk to everything in Friday Harbor. Time of year was perfect so no AC was needed. It was quite loud every morning with ferry horns and just outside traffic. Construction right outside with big trucks really early in the morning so that was a negative. One thing I would suggest is some nicer bedding, down comforter and better sheets? It was a spacious unit with lots of seating. Overall we had a great experience and would come back!

So I love the location and I really like this condo. There's a few little things that can be fixed like the sink and maybe new furniture. Furniture now is pretty worn out. The hideaway bed is terrible. But overall I stay there every time I go to the island.

It was the perfect place to stay for the 3 of us. It was unfortunately 80+ degrees which made the apartment 100. Recommend bringing an iPad or computer if you want to stream anything at night, as the tvs don’t have streaming capabilities and the town shuts down early but they do provide cable! Great space, bathtub and kitchen. Amazing views!

Located in the heart of Friday Harbor. Walking distance to many restaurants and shops. A little loud in the morning when the first ferry comes in but after that not bad at all. Rented a car from M&W (easy walk to pick up and drop off) to explore the island. Enjoyed strolling the marina looking at boats. All whale watch boats take off a block away from the rental. Would stay here again if we make it back.

But there are some small issues: the couches are worn out and have no support; they're very uncomfortable. Also, a number of the handles/locks on the windows simply fell off when we used them. The blade on one of the steak knives broke off when we used it. So, some minor upkeep is needed. But, given the wonderful location and great views, we were able to look past these issues.

This location was perfect! Across from ferry we would sit in dining room and watch the ferry it was awesome and we rarely heard the horn. Close to food shops and popular sites. The place was clean and accommodating.

Old oil in the fryer isn't what I care to experience. The other issue was a dysfunctional shower. The shower head had to be held by a hand after climbing over a very high-sided spa, a shower curtain that wouldn't stay in place, and lack of hot water. The mirror isn't over the sink where it's needed, but rather over the toilet. It doesn't seem quite right brushing teeth and applying makeup over the toilet. The bathroom was like a Handyman's Nightmare. We loved the ceilings and the space in general. It was an interesting and comical experience, with some good points, too. Such a pretty view! Thanks

The place is as advertised. They aren't kidding about the ferry noise. We visited in the summer time, leaving the windows open to keep cool. The temp was just fine, bit the ferry noise early in the mornings was much louder than expected. We were up at dawn anyway though since the main living area (where the pull out couch is) lacks window coverings. This means whomever sleeps on the sofa bed should bring and eye covering mask, or expect to be up with the sun. We enjoyed the tub and the kitchen was easy to cook on. Lounging on the sofas and watching the sun rise, set, or even some TV on the big screen was great. The internet connection was solid as well and you're within an easy walk to everything. I would NOT recommend this place to families traveling with young children. The windows are usually open for air flow, and there are a lot of ledges that make it interesting for young kids to climb. Supervision is a constant must for the 4 and under crowd. (Our 7 yr old stayed away when we discussed the dangers of leaning on the screen and falling down.) The place was very clean and had everything we needed for our 2 night stay.

The apartment was good but the tub was very hard to get into and slippery and with no air-conditioning and in the 90s it was a little rough

This is a roomy apartment with great views directly across from the Ferry Terminal. It was very comfortable for me, my spouse, and our nephew. The living room was large and there was plenty of room to spread out. The kitchen was fully equipped, the dining area was perfect for charging devices or eating. The laundry area was updated, clean, and super convenient.

We were biking around the islands so this was ideal in that we didn't need to go down until the ferry we were taking was unloading. Can't beat the location. Great harbor and ferry views. Some oddities about the bathroom. Would have been nice to have a dishwasher.

Loved the location and the place itself. Things I was OK with because I knew ahead of time: no a/c, no proper shower, early morning noise from ferry traffic. Things I was not OK with: bathroom sink drain plug stuck down, toilet started to leak from underneath after flushing, one of dining room chair legs about to give way, dining area window lock came off in my hand, same window missing a screen. No response from management when we called about the toilet. A few minor repairs needed.

Renting the property was straight forward. Instructions were clear for arrival. We were visiting to attend a wedding during a busy weekend on the island. We had to improvise a place to hang our clothing since there wasn’t a closet. We also had to buy some supplies that we had assumed would have been supplied.

The bed was comfy and we liked having a big space to relax on the couch to plan the day's adventure. Having a washer/dryer was a huge plus!

We were disappointed with the maintenance of the condo. For instance, two of the main windows would open only on one side. The middle window was is missing a screen. We appreciated having fans to help cool the space, but the fans were filthy. A lamp shade kept falling off every time we turned it on. The coffee situation was sad; only three pods were stocked and there was not creamer or sugar. It's okay to not offer coffee, but please don't advertise it as an amenity. Luckily, The Crows Nest Coffee opens at 6:30 AM and serves up amazing coffee. All maintenance is easy to fix with a small amount of attention.

This is a really hard place to review. There are many pros and cons. First of all, the place was clean. It's a decent size, and things seemed to work fine. It has character, and some unique quirks. We were able to get past the quirks for the most part. The pic of the stairs leading up to the apartment is misleading. We didn't realize there was another full set up stairs not pictured that you had to go up to get to the place. If stairs are not a problem for you, then this is not as big of a deal. Since my husband and I struggle with joint issues, the stairs were a bit more than we had bargained for. Getting the luggage up those stairs was not fun, but we did it. So just be aware there is no elevator, and there is another flight of stairs to go up that is not pictured. The place has no air conditioning. We got there after 10:00 p.m., and it was 79 degrees inside. It was miserable! There was one fan, and after searching in the storage area, I found another one, but we had to open the windows to cool the place down. One window didn't have a screen on it. The other side of that window wouldn't open, so we had to leave it open with no screen. Fortunately, there weren't a lot of bugs, but it was not ideal. Only one side of the window by the kitchen area would open. So the 2 windows in the main area were problems. The main problem with opening the windows is the noise. This property is located so that every vehicle that gets off of the ferry drives by. It gets very loud several times a day. There is no possibility of sleeping in and enjoying a quiet morning. People are driving, biking, and walking by all hours of the day, and late into the night. You hear everything that is happening on this main street. Having said that, the location is great if you don't mind being in the hustle and bustle. It was annoying, but kind of fun, to have the horn of the ferry be our alarm clock early every morning. It is a great location for walking to most restaurants and shops in the area. There is no parking dedicated for staying here. You are given suggestions of longer term parking a few blocks away, but there is only 2 hour street parking in front of the place. We elected to stay parked longer than 2 hours, and got a parking ticket. That was a calculated risk on our part, and I'm not complaining. This place is just a really mixed bag. I can't say that we hated it, but I can't recommend it either. It just depends on the experience you are looking for.

Some of the furniture isn't in the best shape (chairs, lamps) but overall a very central place to stay. Watching the Ferry come and go and floatplanes and boats from the window was super fun. On a hot day, fans aren't enough because the building heats up and stays hot until late. AC would be a great addition! This isn't a place if you are looking for a very quiet place to stay. Overall, I would still recommend this place.
