The Rutledge Kitchen House ( c 1830 ) was restored in 2016 to the highest standards and received the prestigious Carolopolis and Pro Merito Awards from the Preservation Society of Charleston for its exceptional restoration and preservation.
We are one of very few licensed Short Term Rentals South of Broad. This charming 1830 kitchen house is located in historic Charleston in the most desirable "South of Broad" district. The location is quiet and one block from the Charleston harbor and one half block from beautiful White Point Gardens. It is within walking distance to restaurants, shopping and entertainment.
A large first floor contains a living / dining area featuring two large fireplaces
( non functioning ). A galley kitchen features a Wolf dual range and hood, Subzero refrigerator, a Bosch dishwasher and Carrera marble counters. The second floor offers a bedroom with queen bed, a renovated hall bath with a tub shower, a cozy den and a sunlit sunporch, perfect for a study or relaxing in the late afternoon. The third floor offers a master suite with a queen size bed, walk in closet, washer/ dryer and a beautiful full bathroom featuring a beautiful marble and glass shower.
We are located 20-30 minutes to 5 beaches. Enjoy a day at the beach.
We are located in the midst of the most desirable, exclusive neighborhood in Charleston, surrounded by historic mansions and beautiful gardens. You will appreciate the quietness of the neighborhood and yet walkable to shopping on King Street, restaurants and museums. You will enjoy exploring this beautiful neighborhood with its historic homes, beautiful gardens and the Battery nearby.
Off street parking for one (1) car is provided.

Great location in historic area of Charleston within walking distance of shopping, restaurants and various attractions. Kitchen was well equipped and beds were very comfortable, but lots of steps to reach them on 2nd and 3rd floors. We enjoyed our stay!

Pros: Great location, spacious unit, comfy beds.Cons: Poor communication, sub-par cleaning, unwelcoming host Asked about several things response time was 2-4 hours at best and sometimes the next day. Workers showed up 2nd day and blocked access to driveway/parking we were never told about this? No place to put your clothes as most drawers were filled with extra linens and other stuff. Kitchen was not very clean on arrival and apparently previous guest had spilt something in oven and it had not been cleaned, we turned it on to pre-heat and it smoked & caught on fire, decided not to use afterward. After stay got a message from host blaming us and demanding money - not asking if we new anything about it? In general host was very unwelcoming, so I would not recommend this place. Anyway, based on looking at previous reviews that were in any way critical the host will respond that we were terrible and don't know what we're talking about, but I'm just sharing the truth about my stay - there were positives and negatives, I'll leave it at that.
