About this cabin rental

Lavender Cabin

Five hours from Calgary or Vancouver and just 25 minutes from Salmon Arm and Enderby, Lavender Cabin sits atop 160 private forested acres overlooking the beautiful Shuswap Valley.

The final 11 km of your journey follows a well-maintained gravel and forest service road. By the time you arrive, everyday life feels wonderfully far away.

Built almost entirely from timber sustainably harvested and milled right here on the property, Lavender is part of the landscape rather than simply sitting within it. Surrounded by forest, mountain views and 14 km of private trails, it's a place designed for slowing down, reconnecting, and spending quality time with the people you've come with.

This isn't a hotel or a resort. It's an authentic mountain retreat.

If you're looking for polished hotel living, daily housekeeping and perfectly manicured surroundings, Lavender may not be the right fit. If you love beautiful cabins, wood fires, wildlife, hiking, meaningful conversations and unforgettable evenings in nature, we think you'll absolutely love it here.

Designed for Gathering

Lavender comfortably sleeps up to 10 guests and is perfect for families, retreats and groups of friends.

Sleeping arrangements include:

• Master bedroom (main floor): One private king-size bed
• Downstairs bedroom: One queen bed and one double bed
• Shared back living room: Two comfortable double futons

While Lavender comfortably accommodates up to 10 guests, two of the beds are located in a shared living space, making the cabin best suited to groups comfortable sharing common areas.

All bedding, linens, pillows and towels are provided.

Living Off the Sun

Lavender is powered almost entirely by solar energy, allowing you to enjoy modern comforts while treading lightly on the landscape.

The cabin includes Wi-Fi, two full bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen and all the comforts needed for a relaxing stay.

There are two full bathrooms—one upstairs and one downstairs—as well as a seasonal outdoor shower that's perfect after a sauna or on a warm summer afternoon.

Bath towels, hand towels and hand soap are provided. Please bring your own personal toiletries.

Kitchen & Dining

The fully equipped kitchen includes:

• Propane stove and oven
• Full-size fridge and freezer
• French press coffee maker
• Pots, pans, dishes, utensils and cooking equipment
• Salt and pepper

Please bring everything you'll need to prepare m meals, including groceries, coffee, cooking oil.

Outside you'll find a propane BBQ, and propane is included.

Heating the Cabin

Lavender is heated by three wood-burning stoves, including a beautiful European-style masonry heater that radiates warmth throughout the main living area.

If you're unfamiliar with lighting or maintaining a wood fire, we recommend watching a quick youtube tutorial before your visit.

Because firewood is brought indoors, it's completely normal to occasionally see the odd harmless spider or tiny forest visitor hitch a ride inside. You're staying in a real cabin in a real forest.

Wood-Fired Sauna & Campfires

For an additional $30 per stay, you can enjoy your own private wood-fired sauna.

Your sauna booking includes:

• Firewood
• Sauna towels

Please note that the sauna may not be available during periods of extreme fire danger or provincial fire restrictions.

Just off the screened porch you'll find a wood-burning outdoor fireplace. This fireplace is intended for ambience rather than heating and requires separate firewood bundles, available for $20 each.

A larger outdoor fire pit is located a short walk from the cabin. Firewood can be purchased from us or you're welcome to bring your own firewood.

One of Lavender's favourite features is the mature grape arbour that surrounds the back deck, creating a beautiful shaded place to enjoy your morning coffee, read a book or share a glass of wine in the evening.

Depending on the season, you may find grapes growing overhead. If you're travelling with your dog, please note that grapes are toxic to dogs, so we ask that pets be supervised around the arbour during grape season.

Explore the Property

Guests have access to over 14 km of private, signed walking trails winding through forests, meadows and viewpoints.

We highly recommend downloading the free Avenza Maps app before arriving and loading our georeferenced trail map. It allows you to see your location on the trail system even when you don't have cell service.

Dogs Welcome

Well-behaved dogs are welcome for a $25 per pet fee.

Please remember there may be other friendly dogs staying elsewhere on the property, so we ask that your dog be comfortable around other pets.

Privacy

Although there are four cabins on the property, each has been thoughtfully positioned approximately a 5–10 minute walk apart, giving every guest an exceptional sense of privacy while still sharing this beautiful 160-acre retreat.

Winter Access

The final 11 km to the property is a well-maintained gravel and forest service road.

During winter months we recommend a four-wheel-drive or capable all-wheel-drive vehicle.

Is Lavender Right for You?

Lavender was created for guests who appreciate authentic places over perfect ones.

If you enjoy lighting a wood fire, preparing meals with family and friends, wandering forest trails, relaxing in a wood-fired sauna, listening to coyotes at night and waking to birdsong instead of traffic, you'll probably fall in love with this place.

Nature isn't staged here. You're staying on 160 acres of forest, and with that comes deer, hummingbirds, owls, squirrels, chipmunks, the occasional spider, changing weather and all the little surprises that make the outdoors special. Most of our guests tell us that's exactly why they return year after year.

This is a real cabin in a real forest—not a conventional hotel or resort. Living in the forest means you'll occasionally hear wildlife, see forest creatures and experience the little quirks that come with an authentic wilderness retreat.

If that sounds like your kind of getaway, we can't wait to welcome you.

If you're looking for a polished resort or hotel experience, another property may be a better fit—and that's perfectly okay. We'd much rather every guest arrive knowing exactly what makes Lavender so unique.

We built Lavender for people who value nature, craftsmanship, meaningful conversations, slowing down and making memories together. We hope you'll leave feeling rested, inspired and already planning your next visit.

We had a fantastic stay at this house with our family of four and our dog. The home is beautiful, spacious, and well-equipped. We especially loved the privacy and the many walking trails that were perfect for our dog to explore. We had a great beach day at Canoe dog beach but we highly recommend a paddleboard float from Grindrod to Secret Beach. The river is sandy and shallow, which was perfect for the kids and our dog to play in as we went downstream. It was a blast!

It's an adventure to navigate the switch back roads but absolutely worth it. And REALLY pay attention to the signs and heart's hanging from the trees. If ya don't It's more of an adventure. Lol For larger groups Lavender cabin where we stayed is perfect. Do note that if you have 12 individuals, you will be sharing beds. There was 8 of us and while 6 didn't mind, 2 got to have their own bed. There is confusion from the actual website and via Verbo surrounding somethings. For me it was the fire wood. I had purchased 20 ahead of time for the firepit and sauna. There is wood for heating the cabin free of charge but all wood is needed to be chopped by guest. Which is fine if you can. The confusion lied with my purchased wood because all wood was together under the cabin and we didn't use the firepit because it's a bit of a walk , uneven ground and rain.Instead we sat in the cozy little screened in patio with the fireplace 99% of the time. That fireplace is purchased wood. Once everything was clarified, I glady popped in more money. Anyway, its an amazing place and already planning next year's trip.

I stayed at the lavender house with a group of my best girlfriends for a relaxing and healing winter bachelorette. This place is a dream stay! From the gorgeous curated space to the incredible views/property, I cant say enough great things! On our checkout day, all the girls agreed that we should have booked longer. We will avsolutely be coming back!

The cabin is beautiful and quiet which is what we needed. The first day we stayed there was no hot water (they recently installed a new hot water heater). We text the owner and she was good about responding that night but the following morning (Saturday) started texting us at 6:50am and calling at 8:00am. Our 2 night stay was our only summer vacation and I wish I could have slept in without my phone waking me and showered the night before as we had been in the sauna before we realized the lack of water. I felt like I was roughing it for a somewhat pricey weekend and was not offered a discount.
