About this house rental
Spacious Cape Dutch family home in the winelands ideally situated to enjoy the many attractions around Cape Town including the beaches, mountains, the many excellent restaurants and outdoor activities. It is in a leafy, quiet and safe neighbourhood close to all the necessary amenities.
The large, comfortable family home is in a beautiful spacious garden with a large pool. The large open plan kitchen, dining, lounge and sunroom is great for entertaining and is cool in summer and warm in winter with the central fireplace. Enjoy barbeques and al fresco meals under the vines on the patio or around the pool.
There are two lounges, one with cable TV and a back patio and swing chair in the back garden and a relaxing seating area under the trees in the front garden. The well equipped kitchen has 2 ovens, a gas hob, ice maker and coffee machine. There are solar geysers and solar outdoor lights and wifi and cellphone charging continues during any load shedding. Together with the gas hob and battery powered lights life can continue as normal.
There are many wine estates in the area to visit, beautiful parks and nature reserves to hike in with spectacular views, a cheetah park and bird rehabilitation centre, a number of adrenaline action sports to enjoy as well as the lovely Strand beach to soak up the sun. Cape Town city centre is only 35 minutes drive away and Cape Town International airport 20 minutes drive. This is the perfect location to base yourself while enjoying all the "Fairest Cape" has to offer.
Please note there is a cat and two friendly spaniels who live on the property. Only suitable for pet lovers. The pool which is not fenced off from the house. No children and guests allowed on the property who cannot swim.

Wir hätten es nicht besser treffen können, es stimmte einfach alles; der Preis dafür war allerdings sehr hoch. Aber mitten in Corona hat uns das nicht gestört. Und ich würde dieses Anwesen auch sofort wieder für nächstes Jahr reservieren.

A very roomy house, with a fantastic pool and 10 chickens to feed! The kids loved that in particular - taking leftover food out for them and collecting the eggs. Faye was onhand and able to dispense valuable advice and recommendations, as well as background to the culture and customs of Cape Town. The house is beautifully situated deep in a fantastic upmarket housing area, in the already well-healed Somerset West. A whole host of restaurants, supermarkets and the wine region are within a 5 minute drive, overlooking by the Helderberg mountain. 30 minutes from the airport, 15 mins from Stellenbosch - ideally placed. Highly recommended, as is the owner Faye!

We especially appreciated the numerous sitting areas both inside and outside the house, the very well-stocked kitchen with enough silverware and plates and appliances for any occasion, very comfortable beds with good quality linens, and the cleaning service 3x per week. Faye was also very helpful and accommodating when we had questions or issues. Absolutely loved the fresh eggs daily from the chickens in the back!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the “Owl House”! The owner, Faye, was responsive to all of our needs. The home was comfortable and well laid out for multiple families traveling together with private sleeping areas, and large gathering areas and kitchen. The house was beautifully decorated, well appointed, and the gardens were gorgeous!
The house maid was there a few days a week and was wonderful.
In addition to a beautiful pool, the backyard also has a hen house, where guests can gather their own fresh eggs every morning- our kids loved this!
We hope to be able to return to this property again next time we vacation in South Africa!
