About this house rental
Welcome to Captains Quarters, located in Hall Quarry on Mount Desert Island. Enjoy spectacular mountain and water views from your living room, deck, balcony or bedroom. Enjoy sunrises and sunsets looking out across Somes Sound; the only fjord on the Eastern Coast of the United States. Enjoy watching mother and baby deer foraging for food from your deck. Supplied for your use is a dock, mooring, and rowboat at the waters edge. Canoes and kayaks are encouraged. Pack lightly as all linens, towels, blankets, pillows, washer, dryer, firewood, etc. are included. The cottage has a full kitchen including microwave and dishwasher. Owner is near the premises to quickly take care of any unexpected problems should they arise. Enjoy time with your family in the large recreational room downstairs that has a ping pong table, Franklin fireplace, TV, kitchenette and seating. Weekly rates covers up to six persons. There are three bedrooms in the main house with two king size beds, and one room with two twins. There are two full sized baths w/ showers, and three half baths. There is also a large bedroom over the 2 car garage attached to the house that has two twins and a queen size bed (1/2 bath) which can be opened up to accommodate up to 4 more persons, for a total of ten, for an extra fee. We enjoyed our time at the Captain’s Quarters very much. Jan was a wonderful host and was very effective in communicating directions, the check in process and recommendations of places to go/see. We enjoyed the peace and quiet of the property surroundings. The view of the Somes Sound was beautiful! The property was very centrally located and a short drive to all the things we wanted to do…Jordan Pond, Bar Harbor, Echo Lake and other trails in Acadia. We enjoyed our trip very much. *We did experience some extremely hot weather while we were there and the house became very hot. We could have benefited from an AC unit although there were multiple fans that helped a little.

View from the living room was exactly as posted in the listing. The rooms were spacious. The kitchen, towels , and soap etc. were the best stocked house we have ever stayed in. Location near southwest har or was ideal, to escape the crowds of the Bar Harbor side of the island. Our only surprise was the room over the garage was not accessible from the house, you had to walk through the garage. This is good for those who like to hibernate, but for some it my have felt isolating. Our traveler who stayed in it relished the privacy. Would stay again when in Acadia! A note of interest for those who may need to work while away, Wifi/ cell can be weak at times, but this was the entire park area, I do not think it was specific to this house. Many parts of the park had no cell coverage at all. Thank you Captains Quarters for a wonderful family vacation week

We had our entire family 8 adults and 2 children on a trip to Acadia national park . The house was perfect for us . Overlooking Some Sound with deer joining each day in the backyard. We had a great time

The property was quaint and charming. However we were on Mt Desert during a hot spell and only one room was air conditioned. Beautiful views! We were visiting family in Somesville so the location was perfect for us!
