About this house rental
Bar Harbor is a magical place and 'Sunset' is the perfect home from which to enjoy all it has to offer. Walk into town to shop or eat, bike into Acadia National Park, kayak off the sand bar, board a boat to fish or whale watch or simply relax and enjoy the view from the back porch. You will find that everything is easily accessible from this spectacular home built in 1910 and listed on the National Historic Registry.
Sunset features 2 king bedrooms, 1 queen bedrooms, 3 full bedrooms and 2 bedrooms with 2 twins. It has 7 full bathrooms. We have 2 futons in the TV room on the 2nd floor and a twin bed in the TV room on the 3rd floor. We do limit adults to 16 but will allow up to 18 if small children are included.
For those not able to handle stairs, we have a sitting room with a full sized bed on the first floor along with a full bathroom not included in the count above.
Enjoy sunset on the glassed in back porch or on the patio, both overlooking the beautiful garden and Frenchman's Bay.

I'm not sure where to start. "Sunset" is such an amazing home, I struggle to come up with enough superlatives. The location is fantastic. It is only one house from the Bar Harbor land bridge, 1.5 blocks from the Hannaford grocery store and 1 block from the start of the downtown shops. The home had so many features that reminded me of my grandparents lake home when I was growing up (in a great way). The furniture, the staircases, the butlers pantry, the food pantry, woodwork, bathrooms, etc.The kitchen was the most well equipped kitchen I have ever experienced in a VRBO propertyMost importantly, it was perfect for a family vacation with children and grandchildren. I have no doubt this will become a lifelong memory for my grandchildren. I know it will be for my wife and me.Thank you for the opportunity to stay in this beautiful home.

The location of the property can’t be beat. We walked to town every day which is a real plus given the parking situation in the area. There was plenty of room for our family of 15 to gather together or to spread out for alone time. The kids enjoyed playing kick ball in the back yard and riding scooters on the driveway. Ample parking- we had 3 vehicles. This is an old home. Washer and dryer (3 each) are in the basement. Some of the mattresses and pillows need replaced. Only one working TV. We would stay again if we return to Bar Harbor

This place is wonderful! If you have a large family or group of friends, this is an ideal rental. Large enough to have your own space and cozy enough to feel togetherness. Ideal walking distance to all of Bar Harbor!

This is a lovely old house with plenty of rooms for a big family. We loved that. The location was absolutely perfect, which is a big part of why it’s getting 3 stars. Unfortunately, this lovely old house just isn’t quite getting the care she deserves. It’s a huge property, so I think they’ve let some of the cleaning get on top of them. There were weird pieces of clutter everywhere, including a large nail with some foil wrappers wedged on the end in the room my toddler slept in. There were tokens from the previous bachelorette party scattered around the house, and the overall feel was just a little grimy. We put my toddler in a bathtub only to be met with flecks of black floating slime. We had to resort to a shower for a two year old, which was not a good time. There were also human hair balls in the couches, a used dental pick, and a weird exposed wire just floating around next to a sofa. This is an amazing house, I’d just recommend the owners get a better cleaning crew and make sure it’s spotless for how much you’re spending.
