About this house rental

Oceanfront property....Little Troubles by the Sea

The beautiful view from 1136 has not changed, but 1136 has seen a change from the ground up. We had to completely rebuild in 2024 after a fire happened in December 2023. Sitting on site 1136 is a brand new home and we are excited for you to see it. We now have 5 bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths. We continue to have comfortable seating in the room with all the windows to see out. We have part of the deck covered so if you choose you may sit in a shaded area instead of the sun. If it is raining you may still enjoy the fresh ocean air and not get wet. If you just need to come in and cool off a little, you do not have to leave the view behind. We still have many windows looking out at the beautiful ocean.

One very important change to 1136 is an elevator. My mother was handicapped and if we had not had a way to get her into the house she would have been heart broken, so we made sure that if someone is in need of help getting up the steps we had an elevator installed to the main floor of the house. Just let us know and we will make it accessible for you.

The view from the main room is just as awesome as if you were on the deck. There is plenty of comfortable seating for you to enjoy. We have a large mounted television on the wall over a cozy fireplace for those cool evenings in late fall, winter and early spring.

We again have a fully equipped kitchen with plenty of cabinets, drawers and a pantry. You will also find a large island with seating for four and dining room table that sits 6.

The downstairs, or first floor, bedroom has a king-sized bed and there is a door leading into the bathroom from the bedroom making an ensuite. There is a walk-in shower in this barhroom. There is also a full-sized clothes washer and dryer in here. There is a half bath on the first floor for a dash from the beach or outside.

There is a large landing area at the top of the stairs with a full bathroom off of it. We have put a sofa and flat screen TV here as a gaming area for those enthusiasts. Don't forget to bring your gaming systems and movies.

There are 4 bedrooms upstairs. A great addition we have in our new house is a custom-built bunkroom. It has 2 twin beds above with 2 queens floor level. We now have two bedrooms on second floor on the ocean front. One of these has a queen bed and the other a king bed. The ocean front wall of these 2 rooms has 3 large windows so you have a 180 degree view of the ocean right in front of you. Go to bed at night looking at the stars and watch the sun come up in the morning without getting out of bed. The fourth bedroom upstairs has a daybed bed. All bedrooms have televisions in them.

The ocean front deck is nice and large with comfortable swivel, rocker chairs. A table that sits six people . There is another seating area with 2 chairs along with a couple of recliners for sunning.

Underneath the house we have a custom built bar and a TV. We are planning on some bar stools and other seating to enjoy. There is an area big enough for corn hole. Bring your boards or other yard games and play at the house instead of in the street as many do. We also have a gas grill there.

You will find when you come off of the beach, which has an entrance diagonally across from the house, you can step into an enclosed shower with both hot and cold water to rinse the sand off. An area accessed from the shower has a place to store your beach chairs and toys and we have provided an umbrella for your use.

Ocean Lakes is a wonderful small community in itself. It is run by a family with a family atmosphere. You can come into the community and find everything you need without having to leave the facility. It is a 24 hour gated and security patrolled community with almost one mile of ocean front beach.. There are many amenities inside the gates such as an outdoor Olympic sized pool with lifeguards and an indoor heated pool, three kiddie pools and a WATERPARK which is free admission to Ocean Lakes guests. The waterpark has a 705 foot lazy river for everyone to enjoy but especially for those that do not care for the thrilling matt racing slides or curving tubes.

You will also find 8 fresh water lakes, several children's playgrounds, basketball courts. horseshoes, shuffleboard, putt putt, corn toss and an arcade with more than 80 games.

This house will sleep a maximum of 9 adults in four bedrooms with a total of 3 twin beds for children in a couple of the bedrooms. We do not provide linens or towels. A linen service we recommend is Amanda's Linens 704-984-1526.

Because this is a family oriented community the rental of this house is intended for couples and families NOT a group of young singles or parties. You must be 25 years of age to rent this house and must be staying there during the rental time. We do not rent for multiple weeks or extended time in winter.

At first we were over joyed. The view was awesome. The main living room area was open and welcoming. The access to the beach was close. Then things started to go downhill. Night one, a roach ran out from under the newly added leather recliner love seat. Night 2, a roach ran out from the bathroom rug. From there we were constantly paranoid and worried about roaches getting into our food/belongings. The living room is hands down the best part of the house. View is great! The view from everywhere else wasn’t as good. The main bedroom on the second story had the next best view; however, the screens on the windows were ragged and made it hard to see out and fully enjoy. The bathrooms were extremely out dated. They must have the original tub/showers. I dislike using showers that are not my own, so it is personally hard to use one traveling. In my opinion, it was the smallest and worst shower I have ever used. For the price, I expected more. There is a reason there are no pictures in the listing. The final letdown is contradictory to the best thing about the house: The location. View/closeness to beach was the best. Ocean Lakes Camp Ground was the worst. The cost to hang a piece of paper on your vehicle’s mirror to pass through the gates was $10/day if prepaid. The added cost should be noted in the listing. The campground is a maze. Houses on houses. Takes forever to get in and out. You can’t utilize delivery of food because it is not allowed. Leaving to get food sucked. The whole grounds: You can touch the neighboring houses from their balconies. We had loud neighbors who hung out on their balconies. They also let cheap fireworks off in front of the house every night. The entrance to the beach is praised in the listing but it wasn’t great. Everybody uses the entrance in a half mile radius. Not only did that make the beach in front of the house the busiest spot, but there were groups constantly in front of the property carrying on. The camp ground totes there are over 900 golf carts in play. You follow them leaving 2-3 mph. They are going up and down the street in front of the house 24 hrs a day. It is the busiest road because its parallel to the ocean. They also park in front of the house to use the beach entrance. As far as you can see, both ways, a line of golf carts and people on/off at all hours. Our expectation was too high, we didn’t expect to be located at the busiest location.
