Charming Beach Front Cottages at Duneland Rentals.

This was a lovely home right on the water of Lake Michigan. We stayed in early November so we did not go in the water but the beach was lovely and the waves for the week we were there made it feel like the ocean. The beds were comfortable and warm The kitchen was well appointed The bath is adequate. The water was hot and all of the plumbing worked great (not always a given at a beach house) The living and dining area was comfortable enough for our group of 4 with a singe couch and 1 chair but a larger group might not be comfy for long. Access is at the bottom of a longgggg staircase (about 50-75 steps) and then through sand. Not for the faint of heart or weak of knee :). But if you can get there it is totally worth the trip! We will definitely stay again

The cottage was very well-kept, and the view is great. No issues with the cottage itself. VRBO seems to pride itself on the traveller being able to rent the entire house; this was not the case. While we rented upstairs, another group rented the downstairs. The listing did say this. However; in my opinion, it should be more obvious and state, in the listing title, that it is top floor only. We wouldn't have rented had we known it wouldn't have been completely private. Another issue we had was communication with the owner. She mentioned she believed no one was staying the day we checked out so we could stay as long as we would like. She said she would double check; we didn't hear from her until one hour before checkout, that we needed to leave. That made our last hour a stressful one. I would love to stay in someone like this cottage again, but it will not be this one.

We had a lovely stay at this cottage, which is located in a wonderful spot, right on the lake. Everything that we needed was there for us and we enjoyed our stay tremendously.

The cottage was even more comfortable and idyllic than I had imagined. Clearly, the owner takes excellent care of her properties and makes them a relaxing oasis for visitors. We had views of the water from almost all of the windows and instant access to the beach. We love this place and will return.

Wow! What a gem right on the sand. The unit was clean and had everything you need (bedding, kitchen stuff, games). The whole family had a wonderful time swimming, hunting for rocks, and playing in the sand. The stairs… there are a lot of them so pack light or expect a strong cardio workout. Can’t wait to come again!

The view and location couldn't get any better! We were steps away from the private beach and could easily walk to the dunes national park. Our 3 and 5 year olds were happy to find an extra set of beach toys to borrow during our stay. And, despite the many steps down to the cottage, they were able to easily (albeit slowly!) Go up and down.

Easy check in, beautiful views. place is right on the water. Very clean.

My family and I stayed here for a little family getaway. Wonderful property, that sits in between the State and National park with unbelievable views! The house was very clean and had everything we needed. Susan was very accommodating and a wonderful host. Would recommend this place to anyone!

This is a spectacularly cared for apartment and was as advertised. Initially, I planned to bring my 86-year old mother, and plans changed last minute. I'm glad they did because it does take some physical-ness to manage the stairs to get to the property itself. But the views were magnificent and accomodations were great. The apartments is well-enough appointed for light cooking, and while it isn't a private space because of proximity of other cottages, it was a quiet retreat during the time we were there.

Great location right on the beach. Always clean and comfortable and really an excellent getaway...one of my family's favorite places to be!

Had a great experience renting this property. It was our first time booking a VRBO type property and it all went smoothly. Owner was very nice via texting and when meeting at property for the quick tour of things. It was a wonderful trip !

My family of 4 stayed for 3 nights to explore the Dunes and had such a relaxing time. The house was a perfect size to each have a bedroom and sleep well without being far from my little ones. I'm a happy renter as long as the place is clean. And this place certainly was. From the beds, fresh towels, clean floors and kitchen utensils. I especially loved the attention to detail with having night lights...parents of small children can appreciate that!

We booked this last minute and the owner was very accommodating to our limited time and our crazy schedules. The property was clean and I am picky so that's saying a lot. The view is amazing and you are definitely right on the lake. We will book again and absolutely loved the relaxing time we had there.

This little place was the perfect way to enjoy the Indiana Dunes. The house is nicely renovated and immaculate inside. It has all the comforts of home. The kitchen is completely furnished so you can prepare all meals at the house if you choose. You can see the state park down the beach and it just a couple minute walk to the trails and big dunes. We especially liked the deck overlooking the lake and the beach right outside the door. The owners are excellent to work with!!! You can't go wrong.

We stayed for a long weekend in early May and while the weather didn't provide much fun (windy, cold, rainy!) the cottage was absolutely perfect. Windows which allowed great views of the lake, just a 10 minute walk on the beach to the Dunes State Park and all the amenities you would need. Will definitely be making our way back here in the future.

The owners make renting easy and are trustworthy. There are no hidden fees.

We loved this little vacation getaway and couldn't believe how close it was to the water! When we first arrived, the weather was cold and windy, but the views out the windows were so amazing I could have just sat by the windows and watched the water all day. My three young children did get a little antsy inside though, so we took the owners suggestion of visiting some of the local libraries and they had a ton of great kids activities. The following day warmed up and we spent hours playing in the sand on the beach, just steps below. The sunsets were beautiful every night, and the owners were great to work with! Pros: • GREAT location! Literally ON the beach-- and just a short walk to the Indiana Dunes State Park lakeshore • Clean, well maintained living areas. Kind of a beach/cabin feel that worked. Plenty of towels and kitchen items. Also lots of beach toys for the kids and other outdoor items (bbq, fire pit, canoe, kayak) We just didn't get to use most of those due to the cooler weather, but I'm sure they would be great to have around during the warmer months! • Very helpful owners! Gave us plenty of good ideas of where to go when the weather wasn't the greatest, and were very responsive if we needed anything! • Close driving proximity to local restaurants and other things-- but easy enough to just stay at the cottage your whole stay too-- every thing you need is there! (cable tv, wifi, full kitchen to make your own meals, etc) Cons: • Long walk down stairs to cabin from parking (this is how you get so close to the water! But nice to be aware about in advance so that you can plan your packing accordingly and have to take as few trips up/down as possible) • We weren't huge fans of the drinking water. Totally drinkable/useable, but I think we are spoiled with our more filtered water at home, so will just plan to bring some of our own next time. • Off season felt more private, but you do have possible neighbors below and in close proximity next door to you on both sides, so may not be AS private as you want. Our kids liked it as they are always making new "friends" but several times I had to remind them not to bang around so loudly in the mornings as we didn't want to disturb the guests below us.

My husband and I stayed with our two small children, and we had a wonderful time! The cottage itself is charming...modern, well-equipped, and clean with original woodwork and doors throughout. Wonderful open layout in the common areas, but it was easy to find areas of privacy as well. We've stayed in beachfront homes before, but this is literally the closest we've ever been. Walk right down the stairs from the deck to a private beach that has a ton of beach toys as well as paddle boards and kayaks to experience the lake. The location can't be beat. The neighborhood is private, and it's only a short walk down the beach to dunes and the state park. It's also a short drive to other attractions, grocery stores, etc. We enjoyed watching sunsets from the deck and seeing the Chicago skyline across the lake. We'd recommend it and would love to come back ourselves!

I rented this place for a relaxing bachelorette party getaway. The house is beautiful and equipped with everything you need to cook, grill and even make a bonfire. It is on a private beach so there is nice quiet space to relax on the sand. The owners and neighbors were all very friendly. We also rented the owner's studio apartment below this cottage for extra space and privacy. Everything was clean and well-maintained. It is just a short ride from the busy city of Chicago where we live, but felt like a true vacation. We would absolutely rent again!

We stayed at this lovely Porter beach front cottage for the weekend for a 50th birthday celebration! It was an absolutely fabulous weekend at the beach, by the dunes! Property managers very helpful. Very well equipped cottage, great view of the lake, comfortable beds, wonderfully clean! Highly recommend and we will definitely be back. Curt & Family
