About this apartment rental
This residence has been a true labor of love for our family and has been completely remodeled throughout. Built approximately 25 years ago—when a penthouse truly meant penthouse—this two-story home stands apart from today’s typical top-floor units along the Grand Strand, which often mirror the floors below.
To our knowledge, The Palms Resort is the only property in Myrtle Beach offering two-story penthouse residences, and there are no other downtown oceanfront properties featuring four bedrooms and four bathrooms. This makes the unit a genuinely rare and exceptional vacation opportunity.
The home features a full-size, fully equipped kitchen, ideal for both everyday meals and entertaining. The main living area is highlighted by a dramatic two-story wall of glass, offering sweeping, unobstructed views of the Atlantic Ocean.
From the oversized oceanfront balconies, guests can enjoy not only the sights and sounds of the ocean, but also a one-of-a-kind perspective looking south along the coastline. Two bedrooms are oceanfront and feature private oceanfront balconies, while the two rear bedrooms offer large windows with coastline views and their own small private balconies.
The primary suite fully embraces true penthouse living. It features a king-size bed, a spacious private balcony, a mini-bar with refrigerator, coffee maker, and dual vanities. The ensuite bath is finished with beautiful granite and tile throughout, and its standout feature is the separate soaking tub and walk-in shower—both overlooking the ocean.
The kitchen has natural wood cabinetry and rare blue-and-silver granite countertops. Appliances are updated as needed, and all cooking utensils are provided, making the space ideal for hosting and entertaining.
Furnishings throughout reflect a relaxed, tropical Tommy Bahama-inspired style. Tile flooring runs throughout the unit, with the exception of carpeted stairs between levels for added safety.

First off staying at a Penthouse I feel like you have certain expectations that this place just didn’t meet.
The Pros: The location was prime, great views close to many places to eat and other entertainment. The place was very clean.
The cons: The furniture was old and uncomfortable, hard to believe this would be someone’s second home. The tv downstairs had a fire stick but you could only watch the live television, and the reception was fuzzy the whole time. We couldn’t even log into our private accounts to stream movies. They had a dvd player but no dvds to watch- no rental stores anymore as everything is digital now. So in the evenings it was hard to be able to sit together and watch any tv together.
The beds, all of them, were also very uncomfortable. I know this can be subjective but my husband slept in the “updated” downstairs room on night and he said it felt like a camping cot: felt like it had a hump in the middle of it. The master dresser is a hazard. The drawers are super heavy and not on tracks so it would be easy for them to fall out. The furnishings are very dated, which you can tell by pictures, but really feel this place could really be nice with some updating. We were looking for a place that we would want to come back to year after year but we were disappointed in this place. I felt like it had everything we looked for in a rental but after staying there we just wouldn’t come back without major updates.
