A cosy little cottage with a big and peaceful garden on the riverbank. It has everything that you might need for a comfortable stay. I enjoyed walking to the nearby town for some french pastries for breakfast. Amazing cycling/walking options. Surrounded by nice Chateaus, Wine farms and quaint little towns.

Absolutely gorgeous property. great setting and location. Perfect. Suggestion , as we have a place in the south of France and have just installed a state of the art heat pump, we love it. I would do the same with this property and replace the upstairs new radiator that they have, electric, with a single unit heat pump that is efficient and very cost-effective. We are very happy with the Gitie other than no climate control. Also, check out the coffee maker maybe we weren’t working it right.

Property was fantastic in a beautiful location.The enormous garden was magnificent, which led down to the river.The wildlife was amazing.Plenty to see and do in the general area.There is just one caveat we would like to mention.We were greeted by the owner on arrival, but for some reason, we never saw her again, for the whole duration of our twelve day stay - even to say goodbye, on our day of departure.We found this very strange, as the owners only lived across the road from the gite.Oh well, it was still a very enjoyable holiday.

We stayed 3 nights at the cottage by the L’Indre River and were utterly charmed by the location. The accommodations were perfect for the 2 of us and the host(s) have seemingly thought of everything to make our stay as comfortable as possible! It is quintessential French countryside with all the amenities and attractions nearby. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to our friends and others!

This was out second visit. The gite is small but perfectly laid out - open plan lounge and kitchen with everything you need and a beautiful mezzanine bedroom and roomy, modern bathroom/wet room ensuite.The garden is breathtaking: wisteria; walled pati; long lawns down to the Indre; trees and birdsong everywhere. Highly recommend and will be back for sure!C'est une petite maison de charactere avec un des meilleurs jardins que j'ai jamais vu! Malgre la pluie, c'etait formidable. Merci beaucoup!

The cottage is very well equipped and in a beautiful setting. The town and nearby Chateau are also really lovely . Birdsong in the garden is amazing one morning I recorded 26 birds in the garden ! One tiny thing if you visit take plenty of insect protection you are very near to the river and in the evening protection is required . We shut the bedroom windows and as it was hot the host kindly provided fans and an air conditioning unit so we slept well and it was not a problem. The host was lovely and very helpful. A fabulous stay .

A week in June

A fantastic week enjoying the tranquil environment of Azay-le-Rideau. The enormous garden leads to L’Indre river and we enjoyed seeing and hearing all manner of wildlife on the river including beavers. A special treat was seeing a kingfisher on the bank opposite. A great base for exploring and the nearby Maurice Dufresne museum is well worth a visit.

This lovely cottage on the banks of the Indre is superb. The natural setting is so removed yet so close to visiting the chateaux. The kitchen and bathroom were beautiful and extremely well designed. We so loved coming back each day and sitting by the River to listen to the birds and the sounds of the neighborhood.

An absolute jewel of a gite. Beautifully modernised with everything you need set in huge gardens with access directly onto the Indre, great as we had brought a canoe with us. Warm welcome from the proprietors and plenty of privacy. En arivant, nous etions bouleverses - la gite est dans un jardin enorme, sur L'Indre. Calme, propre, si jolie. C'etait parfait, merci!

This gite is ideally situated on a quiet road which is part of the Voie verte. The rear of the gite has a terrace, a yard and fronts the L"Indre river. Perfect spot for relaxing or for heading out to visit the two neighboring chateaux. The kitchen is very well-equipped, there is satellite TV and WIFI and the upstairs bedroom has exposed beams and ample closet space for travelers. The blue-tilled bathroom includes a new Bosch washer and dryer. This one gite to which I look forward to returning!

Beautifully restored farm cottage with a large lawn down to the river. Everything was excellent. An awesome location a few minutes drive from town and a perfect location to see all the chateau. Betty was extremely welcoming and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Wish we had organised to stay longer.

Really pretty house with all modern conveniences including dishwasher. Good hot water and comfortable bed. The garden is amazingly large and our dog loved it. We had great weather and spent a good deal of time there as it was so peaceful. Kingfishers on the river and frogs jumping.Take binoculars. The area has so much to see but my favorite was the private Chateau just down the road. Also worth a visit is the sunday market at a nearby village/town. Internet worked well here.

Wonderful cottage (Gite) lovely well equipped kitchen clean tidy all round. The garden is massive and runs down to edge of the River Indre all private. It was very hot for the 3 nights we were there and the heat at night was merciless unfortunately no air conditioning or even a large stand up fan. But it was a great place. Enjoyed it tremendously.

This is a lovely little house situated on the bank of the Indre river, at the bottom of a long lawned garden. Going in June we did not have a problem with mosquitoes. We were very sorry to leave and I am sure we will be going again.

We spent 4 night in May at this lovely and restful cottage. The patio outside was so nice and the wistaria was in bloom. We spent a lot of time in the late afternoon and evening sitting on the patio, relaxing with wine, cheese, and baguettes and enjoying the scenery. The owners are very nice and very accommodating. We had a brief problem with the hot water and they came over immediately and readjusted it. The cottage is in driving distance to the Chateau's in the area so we had some very pleasant day trips. We really enjoyed out stay!

This darling cottage is in a perfect spot by the river and just out of the beautiful town. The owners were so nice and we had a fun time trying to speak french. I would love to come back every year if I could. You will enjoy this very much.

Good - but room for improvement. Cleanliness: Good, although the washing machine left clothes with a musty smell. We tried airing the drum out but the smell persisted. The owners were fairly friendly. Unfortunately, we did not enjoy our stay as we were unable to get a good sleep because the temperature inside the gite was well above 30C (day and night). We had the choice to either cool the gite off during the night and let a plethora of bugs in, or keep the windows shut and die of heat. In fact, we had to check into a hotel for one night just to get a good sleep and we really could not wait to leave. The weather was unusually warm, so this is obviously not the fault of the owners. Location: The gite is located immediately beside stagnant water so expect a massive amount of bugs. Air conditioning units should seriously be considered for the comfort of guests to keep the temperature correct but also limit the amount of mosquitoes and moths. The gite is nicely decorated and the kitchen is well equipped.

You will wake to the sweet chirping of the birds who will continue to serenade you throughout the day and evening. A short stroll to the end of the lawn brings you to the banks of the beautiful Indre River. As the day warms, you will enjoy the patio for meals as the reflections of the trees along the river bank shimmer in the water. Every meal can be prepared in the very large kitchen, well equipped, although you will need to bring all that you will need to cook. There are no spices, oils or other condiments we find in most of the gites where we stay throughout the world. Also be sure to bring napkins and plastic wrap for food storage. And only dish and washing machine soap is provided, no hand soap or shower soap. As you retire to the upstairs bedroom, the quiet of the night is only interrupted by the soft hooting of an owl or maybe it is a quail. It is a delightful cottage, with a huge lawn that would be wonderful for children to run in and play lawn games. This is a lovely cottage, renovated with detailed care and if we were to return to Azay de rideau, we would for sure stay there again.
