About this house rental

Authentic solognote farmhouse full of charm on 3 levels, fully restored and preserved in its "juice", our country farm is located at the entrance of the village at the crossroads of the various courses of "Loire by bike". The house located in the heart of the castles of the Loire is ideal for a cultural and relaxing stay with family or friends and enjoy many outdoor activities. Finally quiet to relax but not totally isolated, you are less than 10 minutes from downtown Blois and its many shops.
You are spoiled for choice when it comes to activities during your stay: mountain biking, cycling on the banks of the Loire on the cycle paths, canoeing, horse riding, swimming pool on the banks of the Loire, natural swimming pool of Mont près Chambord, golf of Cheverny, flight balloon rides, visit of Beauval Zoo one of the most beautiful wildlife parks in Europe ...
Your GPS indicates that your destination is less than 5 km away. You can not wait to arrive ... Strangely, you feel an early holiday atmosphere since you follow this road on the Loire river. You begin to relax by observing the beauty of the meanders and shades of colors of the Loire River last wild river of Europe. You will certainly see cyclists strolling on one of the bike paths of the Loire cycle that lead from castle to castle: Chambord Cheverny through Amboise, Blois, Chaumont ... Soon a sign indicates the village of Saint Claude de Diray less than one km. You turn and see the steeple of the church that stands above the valley. You have finally arrived at the place of your stay. At the entrance of the village, yes it is the second house on the left: the farmhouse with blue shutters. Welcome: you have arrived home. This is where you will sit and enjoy a well deserved holiday.
The inner courtyard is closed (it's perfect for children ...) with a garden "à l'anglaise" and all buildings with flat tiles country form a U. A wisteria runs on the wall and the arch of the gate. The apparent stone house is on the left, an outbuilding that was to be a former pigsty now serves to store the wood for the chimney fires facing the gate. On the right, an old barn now serves as a games room. By opening its doors you discover that you have the opportunity to play table tennis. The furniture to enjoy the outdoors is not lacking (table, chairs, bench, hammock, games ...) and bicycles of all sizes are made available by the owners. You start to feel really at home. In the yard / garden, next to the secure stone well, a barbecue outside hard for grilling is ready to crackle during the summer season for lunches and dinners outside.
It's time to open the house now: the entrance leads directly to a fitted kitchen. Floor tomettes, beams stained, the kitchen is spacious, friendly and open to the dining room and family table. You know that you will be able to take the time to cook, share, in short have a good time together. When you look in the cupboards you will notice that you have all the utensils to please you: dishes, cutlery, modern and grandmother's dishes, two worktops, a complete electrical appliance, a recent dishwasher, a high-performance oven, a gas cooking .... a priori; nothing is missing. You take it with insight that homeowners should like to receive.
At the bottom right a functional lingerie with a washer / dryer. Phew: it will avoid the rush of the chore of the linen at the return of this escapade in the heart of the Loire Valley.
You take possession of the premises and discover next to the kitchen a "cozy" living room where the brick fireplace invites you to enjoy the end of days by the fire. If the walls are exposed stone the decoration is warm and simple. The paintings, sofas, lamps, carpets and family photos give a soul to this living space. The library is full of books, magazines, records. You can also find leaflets in the salon to better organize your program of the week. The guestbook tells you the good addresses of the artisans around. You can not help but read messages from previous tenants who have had a good time in this house. It's your turn…
Direction the first floor. The ground is in seagrass and the paintings of the pastel walls. A first bathroom is beautifully decorated with a walk-in shower and enamel briard. You discover on this level a very bright first bedroom with a double bed and a single bed overlooking the garden.
You continue your visit by borrowing the industrial staircase purified to access the second floor. You have the impression of climbing into your apartments. This has a reassuring side ... You discover a comfortable TV lounge and an office. The walls are this time in anthracite gray stucco. You are part of the irreducible of the "all connected" and you are reassured. The box is camped right next to the TV. All you have to do is enter the security code.
On the left of the living room you find a huge children's room with a multitude of toys, board games, books with a bunk bed and a cot. You notice the exposed bricks of the chimney duct that dresses this room.
In the back of the living room, you finally explore the master suite with its king size bed which seems very comfortable. You have almost an irrepressible need to test the bedding immediately. The bathroom with bath is open to the room. It's like being at the hotel ...
You are satisfied and relieved. You want to hum. Your visit is according to what you imagined. It's time to come back down and get settled quickly. It's the beginning of a well deserved holiday. You are here at home ...

We had a wonderful stay. The pictures online don't do it justice. When choosing locations in the Loire Valley, this spot is charming and gives you great access to bike to different chateaux and sights. Also, they have a very nice set of bikes for your use. Couldn't have been happier.

We were delighted with our 4 night stay. The cottage was very cosy, homely and characterful. There was slight confusion over the number of bathrooms. I think it said on the website that there are 5 but we only found 2 plus a downstairs toilet. Not that there is any problem with that. For our group of 5 people we had plenty of bathrooms. It was so good to have bikes available. We really enjoyed cycling along the Loire cycle track which is only half a mile away from the house. There were only children's helmets available, by the way, so it was useful that we had taken some adult hats. There are also bike hire shops fairly nearby I think. Communication with Agnes was easy and a great pleasure. We communicated by phone but she had also arranged for a charming neighbour to show us round and help with any problems - but there weren't any! Some condiments had been left for us as well as cleaning products and we were told to help ourselves to logs for the fire. We had all that we needed. Thank you Agnes.

Charles and Agnes are great hosts - they met us on arrival and showed us around the property which is lovely. Definitely a quiet little village but so close to Blois you can find anything you need within a few miles. The beds were comfortable and the home is so quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed table tennis tournaments in the barn and bicycle rides around the area. The countryside is just beautiful with the Loire minutes away and the many chateaux a short drive away.

    Beautiful home

We loved this home and were so happy with the amount and distribution of the space. The town itself doesn’t have much, but it’s a short bike ride or drive to Blois, where you can find anything you need. You can also get to many castles by bike, even with kids, as the paths are mostly flat. The only issue we ran into was arriving on a holiday weekend from Asia and discovering that absolutely everything was closed during our first two days in town. Other than that, we had a wonderful time.

    Perfect in every way!

We loved our four nights in St Claude de Diray, and wish we could have stayed longer! This home is everything we could have hoped for, and more! There is even a play-space in the charming barn, including ping-pong, baby foot, and bicycles. (After each day of Chateau touring, our kids eagerly anticipated playing in the barn, and we especially loved riding bikes along the Seine in the evenings.) The spacious kitchen was great for cooking items purchased at the friendly local stores, and the courtyard was perfect for sipping wine from the local vineyard. Ideally situated in the Loire and near easy routes to all the region has to offer, this home was perfect!

We stayed there for 4 days as a family with 3 kids an enjoyed the rural stay very much. Good starting point to explore the river area and chateaus. Good for family, nice options at the house: cycling, BBQ, table tennis, etc

    Great house, excellent lication
    Great house, excellent lication
This is the perfect house for a family with smaller children. There are lots of toys, bikes and games like table tennis, Fußball and a totally enclosed courtyard. The Seine is a 5 minute bike ride away, the closest castle is Chamboard. Which can be reached by bike. The house is large, super renovation job. The only negative we experienced was that there was no closet space at all! We were there for only 3 days so it did not matter, but I'd want a closet or some cabinets if I was there longer. Also the hosts charged extra for sheets, which seems to be an annoying custom in France!
