Hobson Lodge

Great value for the money! It is a basic place but you really can't expect more for that price. It's way better than other hostels I've stayed at in Auckland for more expensive prices. The staff was super friendly and the toilets were clean. Really great water pressure in the showers and there were plenty of them. Really clean too.

The only downside would be the location. It is quite central but the area looked kind of shady

Close to Intercity buses that also has a left luggage. Can take SkyDrive bus From the airport to Sky city & walk with luggage to Hobson lodge within 8-12 minutes. Can take also smaller airport transport. Very clean & quiet. I was able to sleep very well in a 6 bed room.

Instructions can be clearly explained that there are two entrances or doors. One that has the right address number 224 above it is NOT the right door though it has an old key box to punch in numbers. That’s what I tried but of course it’s not usable as it’s not the right door anyway. Because it’s night time when I arrive & tired i gave up. I was thinking I should start looking for another place to stay the night before it gets any later. So I walked further along & saw another door which is the right one that allows me to punch the codes given to me. Whilst doing it a male staff I believe came to the door.

Each bed had curtains and dedicated sockets, bathrooms are in decent condition, kitchen space is also fine to cook and eat. It was quiet and felt safe. Location close to the CBD and the skybus.

Without aircon rooms get incredibly hot. There is no recycling possible.

We had a room to ourselves due to a problem on check in. Staff were helpful and fixed this quickly.

The first room smelt of cigarettes a lot. But the other room was nice and clean.
