The villa looked online to be what it is, a spacious well appointed bungalow set in well laid out and maintained grounds. The villa is very private and well located for both the Normandy beaches and Bayeux. Port en Bessin is delightful. The only quibbles would be that the mugs were difficult to hold and small. We bought some to use instead. The spiral staircase is very noisy but we didn’t need that room. The check in and check out processes were long compared to UK rentals. At the end of a long journey all we wanted was to get in, sit down and have a cup of tea and also use the loo. We know how ovens and hobs work and would have fathomed the light switches. It was, however, useful to know how the games room worked. Although we never used it. Check out was swifter but still every loo was inspected, every appliance checked, every room explored. We had paid for cleaning and we had left it in a good state. Maybe it is just different in France? None of this stopped us enjoying the property and Normandy. But it might be worth noting if you haven’t booked a villa in France before. We would recommend this villa as a place to stay.

We had a fantastic time at the Villa, would highly recommend this Villa to others, very central to the Normandy D-Day landing beaches, museums and Bayeux. The Port of Bessin is a gem.... Nice restaurants, fish markets, cafe's and bars. The Villa is clean, beautiful garden, comfy beds, has everything you need, peaceful and a fantastic host, we would definitely stay again.

It feels like home instead of a holidayhouse. The garden is beautiful and you are minutes of driving away from Omaha beach and his history. Even Port-en-Bessin is a lovely place with its fishing boats, harbour and the little shops. It was a great holiday. We hope to come back

We have rented many properties in France, but this is definitely one of the best. This beautiful property is well positioned for amenities and is extremely well kept with all the modern fittings for comfortable living that we required. The extensive and well maintained gardens gave total seclusion to the property and the large decking area, South facing, gave perfect outdoor living space. The separate games and cinema building was outstanding. The host, Valerie, was extremely friendly and accommodating and catered for everything we asked. Would we stay here again? In a heartbeat! In fact we plan to return next year.

Beautiful and complete house, splendid garden. Valerie & Francois are very nice and helpful owners. A perfect starting point for exploring La Normandie. The Gîte (La Villa) offers you a lot of privacy and has more than enough facilities for the whole family. Not unmentioned should be that the Omaha Golf Club is very nearby (about 500 yrds). We enjoyed our stay and we intend to come back. I will not hesitate to recommend La Villa for your vacation. Ad van Zundert

The house was perfect for our group of 8 people. A large kitchen and dining room, and plenty of space in the living room for everyone. The hosts, François and Valérie, were incredibly gracious and provided lots of tips on local restaurants and sightseeing.

Very comfortable and well appointed Villa. The owner was most helpful and welcoming. Port en bessin is delightful and an excellent base for exploring Normandy. The house managed a party of 10 without any difficulty.

The villa is beautiful. It has all the things you could possibly need and a few extra. The cinema room was a great bonus. There was 10 of us ranging from ages 72 to 3 and we went to walk in the footsteps of our Dad, Grandad and Great-Grandad during the war. It was lovely to come back to such a lovely place. However when it came to the owners coming to see us on the last day to sort out returning our deposit, it ended up putting a damper on our holiday. First they were 20 mins late in getting there even though they knew we had a ferry to catch. They then started counting mugs, plates, cutlery it felt like we were thieves. We had cleaned the house but it seemed they went in with the intention of finding something in order to get more money, they then found some dust under a bed, a mark on a saucepan and a hair on the toilet. We offered to clean it but they wouldn't let us, they wouldn't return our deposit until we paid the cleaning fee (they brought all their cleaning things with them anyway). They knew we had the ferry to catch and decided they would charge us half that amount and then we could get the deposit back. The lady was very rude and said we should check out the small print and it wasn't her fault we couldn't speak French, we told her if she's renting to multi-national people she should be able to translate the rules correctly, even though everything that was on the list to be cleaned was done. They told us it would take 5 hours to clean the villa, it wouldn't take 5 hours to clean a mansion let alone the villa. Unfortunately as we had to catch our ferry, we ended up HAVING to pay. This totally put a shadow over our holiday that was to remember our family member who served during WW2 at Arromanches. Due to how the owners behaved towards us we would not return and would say to any potential renters to be careful when it comes to the cleaning if they haven't paid for it. We have all stayed in many holiday cottages and have never experienced such rude owners. Why they don't just add the cleaning price to the rental price, although you pay enough for the villa anyway, because they clean it afterwards no matter what.

This was a perfect house for our three couples. Privacy but open and enjoyable open space. the setting is very bucolic and in a beautiful garden. It is ideally suited for touring the beaches and for visiting Bayeux. The house was fully equipped and Valerie and Fracois great hosts.

This is a wonderful villa for a family holiday or for a group of friend which we highly recommend. The accommodation is of a very high standard with everything you need being available. The Cinema/Games room is great for adults and children alike. The villa is situated close to the beautiful harbour town of Port en Bessin but is set in a very peaceful and tranquil location. We had a fantastic family holiday here at the villa and will certainly return with so much to do in the surrounding area. Valerie and Francois were a delight through the entire process. Fabulous!!! We could not have asked for a more beautiful home to stay in! The house is absolutely spectacular, so well appointed with large floor to ceiling windows that let the light in everywhere. The kitchen was incredibly functional with lots of counter space for creating your own culinary masterpieces. The gardens were so lovely and the outdoor seating was perfect for relaxing after a long day on the beach. Great beds, great showers, great playroom along the garden path, great restaurants in town, in fact everything was great. The owners couldn't have been kinder and more accommodating! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this home and I hope one day to travel back!

We had such a great time staying here. The house and grounds are modern and beautiful. It was the perfect home base for sight seeing and exploring all the D Day beaches and museums. The town was within walking distance and had some fabulous restaurants. The owner was so kind and lovely. They even created a coffee table book for guests outlining everything to do and see in the area. Great attention to detail. We will definitely be coming back!

This is indeed a magical place. There was plenty of room for the seven of us and the kitchen and living area are very functional (and the outside area is lovely). A great location within walking distance to the village with good restos and yet secluded beside a golf course. We had one of the loveliest meals of our extended vacation in the garden one night. And the people are just as nice as the place. I would definitely recommend a stay here if you are heading to Normandy.
