Everything is as advertised. Terrific central location, super quiet, lovely outlook on every side. Well appointed - the hosts have thought of everything and for shopping, the supermarket/deli on the corner has all you need. But NB if you don't like stairs this is not for you.

This Loft is an oasis after a day of sightseeing and enjoying the hustle and bustle of Lyon. So quiet with 360 degrees views and has a small terrace to watch the sunset with a glass of wine. Michael’s warm welcome was much appreciated after a long day of travel and watching him lugging up our suitcases will never be forgotten! One of the best places we have ever stayed at!

This lovely little apartment was exactly as advertised. It's in the perfect location, has everything you might need, is functional and comfortable, and has a brilliant view out over the rooftops of Lyon from every window. A little balcony quickly became our favorite place to sit with coffee in the morning and a glass of wine at night. Best of all, the hosts, Michael and Julia, were attentive, responded immediately to any questions we had, were incredible helpful with tips and information about Lyon and the wine regions around and were super flexible with timing of our check in and checking out. Michael even carried our bags up to the apartment on our arrival (because yes, it is 5 flights so if you're mobility challenged this might not be the best choice). We actually didn't mind the stairs as we felt the exercise was good for us. The day we left we realized we didn't have any cash left for bus fare and Michael gave us two bus tickets to use. They were both absolutely brilliant and I highly recommend this apartment. We would definitely stay again. Thanks again Michael & Julia!

Julie and Michael are two of the nicest, most responsive hosts we have had the pleasure to meet from our VRBO experiences. The cozy rooftop apartment has a charm which is unique. The view of La Basilique Notre Dame de Fourvière is fabulous, especially at night when lit up. There are 135+ stairs required to reach the apartment. If you are not capable of negotiating the climb I would recommend another property. However, we are retired, on the older side of 60, and find the rewards from staying in this apartment worth the climb.

Our stay at les Toits de Lyon was magical. Michael and Julie were wonderful hosts and always eager to help with any questions we had. Michael even helped carry our luggage up the 5 flights of stairs…not an easy task… The place was impeccably clean and fully equipped with all the things needed for a stay away from home. The windows provided great cross ventilation air…but more importantly the views from the windows were breathtaking and will be embedded in our memories forever. Michael and Julie, thank you for making our 39th anniversary the best ever! We will return to Lyon again and hopefully Les Toits de Lyon will be available!!!! Julie and Michael are simply the best hosts we have ever had. Their rooftop apartment is a very special place to stay while visiting Lyon. It takes a bit of work and caution climbing the stairs to the top floor but it is well worth the effort. Every amenity one might need is provided for. The apartment is nicely appointed and the workmanship in the unit is top notch. Both Julie and Michael greeted us and shared tips and very useful information about Lyon. They briefed us on the apartment and gave recommendations on activities, restaurants, walks, and transportation. They graciously answered any questions we had and assured us they would be of assistance should we need anything during our stay. The view from the apartment is wonderful. From the living room one sees the Basilica perched on the hill above. From the small porch two people can sip a glass of wine and catch a breeze while perched above the rooftops. It is quiet at night and private during the day. We absolutely loved our stay in Lyon. Lyon is a great walking city. The apartment is conveniently located near metro Line A, (500m), and many sights are easily reached on foot. There is a grocery store only two hundred feet away on the corner. A pharmacy is located nearby as are several cafes and restaurants. We enthusiastically recommend this apartment for short, or long-term visits to Lyon. Thank you, Julie and Michael, for everything you do.

Great loft in the heart of Lyon

The loft was amazing as advertised! It had everything we needed. It was a perfect starting point to go out and explore Lyon. We were easily within walking distance of all main attractions within the city, as well as fabulous restaurants. We were able to walk over to each sides of the Rhône and Saône, as well as to explore the Croix-Rousse. Julie and Michael were perfect hosts. The loft is located on the fifth floor of the building and they live on the second floor. Michael went out of his way to help us with luggage and to accomodate our transportation schedule. They were able to let us have the loft earlier than the normal checkin (as it was unoccupied the previous night), which made a world of difference when coming off a trans-atlantic flight. The loft is very bright and has great big windows that provide a lot of cool air when it gets hot outside (it was 28 degrees). I have no negative comments. The loft is really best suited for a couple.

The owner couple, who live in the building are wonderful. They help make your stay memorable. The apartment is small but comfortable. The location is excellent. The only challenge is a 4 floor walk up. We stayed 5 nights and had a fabulous time.

The apartment location is excellent, central to absolutely everywhere. In our 6 weeks in France, Lyon was a highlight in no small part due to this wonderful apartment. The rooftop location of the apartment is absolutely unique, the views are wonderful (and Mickael told us about a planned rooftop terrace - that would make it even more desirable!).Our expectations for this apartment were high, but were surpassed by it. This apartment certainly lives up to the photos. For three people (myself, husband and and my mother - yes cosy) the place is adequate in size, with both beds allowing for the best views, especially at night. The apartment is very well positioned, very clean and the self contained aspect was very well thought out by the owners. Michael was lovely and had our 3 suitcases and backpacks up the stairs and in the apartment by the time we had got back from lunch. That was a very nice surprise! Michael was unobtrusive but also very helpful in recommending places to eat, shop etc. as well as organising taxis. Loved Lyon and definitely recommend Les Toits de Lyon.

Les Toits De Lyon was a wonderful place to stay. This studio apartment is situated in the heart of the Presqu’île, just a few minutes walk from Place Des Terreaux and Hotel De Ville. Communication with Julie and Mickael was friendly, prompt and professional from the first email. They were also a great help during our trip. The apartment is newly renovated and well-designed, and has everything you'd need for a comfortable stay - fully-stocked kitchen, washing machine, air-con, comfortable bed, TV and stereo, and a Nespresso machine to top it all off. The apartment is on the 5th floor, so there are stairs to climb, but the view of the Basilica of Fourvière and the rooftops of Lyon is amazing. Great farmer's market on the Quai St Antoine just around the corner. For those travelling with kids, there is a playground nearby too. There is a supermarket, bar, cafes and a boulangerie in the same street. Thanks so much Julie and Mickael!

My husband and 8 yo stayed 3 nights in this delightful apartment. We found the location incredible. If we couldn't walk somewhere we caught the tram from just around the corner at Hotel de Ville (but mainly we walked everywhere). The river, restaurants and other shops are all incredibly close. A great supermarket on the corner has a wonderful cheese and wine selection. Although there a quite a few steps to climb to get to the apartment, the exercise compensated for our daily consumption of cheese, baguettes and wine! Julie & Mickaël are superb hosts. We loved Lyon and would return to this city and this apartment without hesitation.

Me and my husband stayed 7 nights in this lovely apartment on 5th floor in the heart of Lyon. Everything about the apartment was exactly as cosy and nice as presented on the web site! The hosts, Michael and Julie, were very friendly and helpful with everything. When we arrived Michael helped out with recommendations about things to do and see in Lyon. The apartment was so cosy and had amazing 360 views over the roof tops and chimneys. We were lucky with good weather so we could use the little balcony several evenings and sit there with sun in our eyes. We had good exercise in climbing the stairs up to the apartment every day! Close to the apartment we found bars, restaurants, bicycle rentals and a superb little supermarket where we found everything we needed during the stay. Also a bakery (bien sur) where we bought our bread for breakfast. The apartment was perfectly located so we didn´t have to go by bus or metro much, we like walking and it was close to everything. The old town was just a 5 minute walk away. We went by bike around the city one day and we can recommend that. Also a wine tasting tour in the Rhone valley gave us lasting memories. Ce fût une très belle découverte que ce petit studio du 1er arrondissement, très propre et très lumineux. La vue sur les toits de Lyon ainsi que sur la Basilique de Fourvière est magnifique. C'est un endroit où il fait bon vivre et il y a tout pour se faire des bons repas en plus il y a une épicerie à 2 minutes à pied. Que dire aussi de l'accueil des hôtes Julie et Michael ils sont tout à fait charmant et toujours prêt à nous rendre service et à nous donner des informations sur leur ville. Nous avons aussi apprécier la tranquilité de cet studio. Confortable sont le lit et le canapé-lit. Nous avons été 4 nuits et nous le recommandons sans aucune hésitation même s'il n'y a pas d'ascenseur çà vaut la peine de découvrir ce petit bijou car tout peut se faire à pied. Merci encore Julie et Michael pour tous ces bons moments à Lyon.

Ce petit studio est tout a fait une petite merveille pour découvrir les toits de Lyon et que dire de la vue sur la basilique de Fourvières. Très propre et très lumineux. Nous avons aussi apprécié le calme de ce studio et il y a tout ce qu'il faut pour préparer des bons repas. Les hôtes Julie et Michael sont très accueillants et toujours prêts à nous rendre service et à nous donner des informations sur leur ville. Même sans ascenseur çà en vaut vraiment la peine. Bon rapport qualité-prix. Je le recommande à tous mes amis Québécois Nous garderons un très bon souvenir des Toits de Lyon.

A wonderful host who certainly wish all the best for their guests. Great information by mail in advance and a super informative welcome. Yes, there are many stairs up to the apartment, but when you get up, you have a nice view. The apartment has all the equipment needed, clean and located in the heart of Lyon. Can definitely recommend the apartment hosts and location. As a plus from the host becomes baggage transported up and down the stairs. It was also ordered taxi departure day. A View Worthy of the Climb

Les Troits de Lyon, meaning the “rooftops of Lyon” is an apt name for this apartment. Located on the 6th floor of a historic building on Rue Lanterne, the views of the neighborhood and city were magical. The owners, Michael and Julie, did an amazing renovation of this space, transforming it into an apartment with old world charm with all the modern amenities and conveniences. The beamed high ceilings made the space feel large and the seven windows provided a panoramic view and cool cross breezes in the evening. Everything was very high quality and the space was very relaxing and inviting. The apartment was very clean and well cared for and this contributed greatly to the quality of our experience. We enjoyed pulling a couple of chairs up to the window at night to sip some wine while soaking in the view of the illuminated St. Jean Bascillica perched on the hilltop across the Saone. Our only recommendation would be to add more storage space for unpacking, as there was essentially none-perhaps shelving in the bedroom or reorganizing the closet space could accomplish this. There is a washer but no drier but if you set up the drying rack and open all the windows, the clothes will dry rapidly. The neighborhood has some nice restaurants and pleasant cafes and is just a few steps away from the Saone and a few more to the Rhone rivers. The monoprix supermarket is just up the street which makes for a convenient place to shop. The street is of course old and has its charm but also its sketchy spots (x-rated shop) and is dark. Lyon had some very interesting sites and was a great launching pad to the Beaujolais region and the Alps. We were, however, disappointed in the rampant graffiti, the desecration of Roman ruins and historical buildings. It was also dirtier than other cities we had visited in France. We found the people in Lyon to be much more friendly than some other parts of the country and also more laid back. Michael and Julie live in the building and were very accommodating. Michael carried my wife’s suitcase up the never ending staircase upon arrival and spent nearly 45 minutes with us reviewing the apartment necessities and showing us points of interest on the map. They clearly take pride in their restoration and have maintained it extremely well. I would highly recommend this lovely apartment to anyone planning to visit Lyon.

C'est un séjour inoubliable que nous avons passé au coeur de Lyon, perchés sur les toits avec une vue à couper le souffle sur Notre Dame de Fourvière, Les "toits de Lyon", c'est un lieu magique, un merveilleux nid calme et douillet dans lequel on se sent tout de suite si bien qu'on n'a qu'une envie : y revenir très vite! Il est né de l'idée de génie de Julie et Mickaël, leurs propriétaires si accueillants, charmants.Nous les remercions encore pour leur grande gentillesse et toutes leurs précieuses informations pour optimiser notre découverte de la ville, sans oublier leurs délicieuses adresses gourmandes!! Enfin, nous avons adoré la délicieuse confiture "maison " de Julie qui a si agréablement accompagné notre petit déjeuner, une très délicate attention!...Un immense merci encore à tous les deux. We stayed at this apartment for 4 night on a recent trip to France. As mentioned there are a lot of stairs up, but Michael carried our bags for us and the view was worth the climb. The apartment was well equipped and Michael and Julie checked on us during our stay to provide anything we were missing. We also go great local restaurant recommendations. I highly recommend this for your stay if you are well enough to do the stairs. The view, service and cleanliness of the apartment can't be beat!
