About this house rental
The house overlooks a place called Surgères. It is surrounded by cultivated fields.
The lease is on the renovated part, more than 400 m2 habitable.
On the ground floor a very large kitchen with farm table for 10 people. It is equipped with a Godin cooking piano with 4 burners and two ovens. Espresso machine, microwave oven, washing machine and dishwasher. A TV lounge with a huge fireplace. A relaxation room with cinema corner (sofas, overhead projector). A terrace near the kitchen with large wooden table for dinners or lunches outside, barbecue available.
On the first floor, a large bedroom with private bathroom, and if needed an extra bedroom.
On the top floor, 3 bedrooms and a bathroom.
Large 5,000 m2 lot for ball games. It overlooks a covered courtyard with ping-pong table and at the end an unheated pool of 5 m * 10 m.
Under the supervision of the adults, the whole property makes it possible to indulge in giant hide-and-seek because it is in fact composed of a house of 700 m2, barns, and outbuildings.
We are 40 minutes from La Rochelle, or the Ile de Ré. The nearest beach is 30 minutes away.

I booked this lovely old French mansion to celebrate my wife's 50th birthday with my family and some friends (8 people in total). The house was spacious with multiple rooms and bedrooms (with comfy beds) over 3 floors and had a large garden leading to the pool - the entire property is basically surrounded by fields. We liked waking up to the sound of the nearby cockerel - it reminded us that we were in the country! If you're after peace & quiet, this is the perfect location. The large town of Niort is about 25 mins away by car. We were surprised at how hot the weather was and really pleased with the open air large swimming pool - the water quality was excellent due to the modern robot cleaner and properly functioning filters. Our Golden Retriever dog was able to find shade under the many trees and on the nice cold stone floor in the kitchen/living room (we kept the shutters semi-shut to keep the temperature down inside). The kitchen was large and very well furnished with plenty of good kitchen utensils and a giant fridge-freezer that worked perfectly (unlike in other places we've booked via Vrbo). We enjoyed playing on the excellent quality table-tennis table in the barn. The host was friendly and responsive via Vrbo messaging.

A lovely two weeks away.
Prior to and even upon arriving, Thierry was first class in communication.
The pool is huge and was the main attraction (it is very, very deep too which was great for us swimmers).
Local amenities are around a 15 drive to LeClerc and similar for your weekly shops which was good.
The "cinema room" in the pictures do not do it justice. It really was fantastic. The sound system was great and the size of the picture beamed onto the wall was brilliant.
Table tennis under the barn was exceptional and another favorite. There is plenty to do within the property and grounds.
Thierry was always on hand (despite not being there in person) to answer any questions.
We had a brilliant and much needed stay away, the big home has everything a large family of all ages: a huge swimming pool, lovely sunsets, table tennis, movie room, a large dining room/kitchen, lounge and huge spacious bedrooms.
In these unprecedented times, we were in a safe, clean and spacious environment.
We would all thoroughly recommend to anyone interested
