In the heart of cultural and gourmet Alsace, HERRLISHEIM near COLMAR

If you want an authentic Alsatian vacation on the Route de Vin, this is your place. The house is located in a small village but close to everything you need and all of the old villages that you want to visit. The house is antique, but has been renovated with every modern appliance that you could need. The hosts were so very gracious to us and not only answered all of our questions , but also supplied us with many suggestions of where to visit, hike, dine etc. We stayed 2 weeks, and were still sad to leave. To our hosts I say “ Merci beaucoup pour tous nos souvenirs.”

This is an absolutely delightful cottage in the perfect location for visiting the Alsace. The hosts, Anita and Julien could not have been more gracious and helpful. We felt like we made new friends. We had 4 adults and we had room for our 2 cars and 4 bikes. The cottage is behind Anita and Juliens house in private garden. Our bikes were secure and safe with room to assemble them and store them. We love to go to markets and pick up local food to cook wherever we stay. Julien wheeled over a beautiful BBQ which we used several times while eating in their beautiful private garden. Anita and Julien were very helpful with local information and were available when we had questions. We even enjoyed an aperitif together one evening when they had friend visiting. Julien also brought over bicycle specific information, market information and a bottle of wine! The accommodations are clean, comfortable and we had everything we needed. The cottage is a restored beautiful stone building. The location is central to Colmar and many of the beautiful villages which are all decorated with flower boxes. Herrlisheim is a town of locals so you can escape the tourists that visit all the villages which makes it a perfect place to relax and convenient to tour the area. The Alsace and the Vosges mountains are spectacular for cycling and if you love wine, you will be very happy. We also ate at a 1 star Michelin restaurant in Kaysersburg. It was very close. We visited the bakery across the street from the cottage every morning! In short, we would highly recommend a stay at this property. We have traveled and stayed in many places and found this to be a wonderful find with wonderful hosts. We hope that Anita and Julien can visit us some day in California!
