The House on the Props

What a fantastic and lovely stay we had here. Polperro really is a special place. From arrival we received such a warm and genuine welcome. Nothing was ever too much trouble for Claire and all her staff. Our room was clean and very comfortable. We appreciated the quirkiness of staying in 300+ year old property full of rich history. What a view from our window. Our daily included breakfast was an unexpected treat, fresh and cooked to order with a good variety of choices. Our favourite was the local made yogurt served with fresh fruit and honey. If you are wanting a stay that feels like a home away from home with genuinely kind and lovely people, this is the place for you!

A very small bathroom but as the building is 300+ years old can’t be helped. The room itself was very spacious.

We had a room with a beautiful view of the harbour. Breakfast has a lovely selection of delicious breakfasts that will meet all tastes.

Nothing not to like

Everything! We visited Porpello for our honeymoon ten years ago and wanted to return for our tenth anniversary. When I saw the photos of The House on the Props I couldn't resist booking and am so glad I did. It's actually even more stunning than the photos suggest. In fact, I spent the first ten minutes in the room walking around, mouthing 'wow' as I took in the view. You really couldn't ask for a more incredible location, nor stunning B&B. The staff are so friendly, welcoming and accommodating and the food, wow! There's a reason they've been voted Best Breakfast in Polperro. Our visit was absolutely magical, thank you.

Hard to find anything not to like. It was all incredible. If I 'had' to say something, I'd say the mattress could be a bit more comfy - but everyone is different and we are used to a memory foam type one at home.

Accommodation is great with a fantastic view..Claire was great along with the staff...food was great.

Car park is a rip off but that's not the The house on the Props fault.

Excellent breakfast included in the price! Wonderful location on the harbour.

Book this property if you want great value in a cosy, historic, clean, quirky and friendly b and b that’s also in a superb location. We absolutely loved The House on the Props. Oh and the breakfast was great!!!

Needed two tea bags in my pot at breakfast….. to be fair I could have just asked and Clare would have seen to it!!!!

Breakfasts were delicious and the homemade walnut toast to die for.

There was nothing that we didnt like

Breakfast: very good choice, served at the table, excellent coffee. Comfortable beds in a quaint room with an excellent harbour view. Ground coffee provided in the room, with fresh milk in fridge just outside the door. Reasonably priced wine, beer and snacks similarly available at all times.

The shower room was fine for us, but we are little people! Might be a little too small for somebody larger. I didn't particularly like eating my breakfast surrounded by dogs, but I do realise the cafe is advertised as dog friendly!

Good choice.home cooked full english.

Lights in the room at night,fire exit in particular...carpet on stairs was bit grubby.

Location and authenticity. Very caring and considerate.

Excellent location. Lovely, cosy room with a great view and well equipped. Very good breakfast with lots of choice and generous portions. Nothing was too much trouble for the very friendly and helpful staff. Would definitely visit again.

Nothing was a perfect stay.

What a delightful place to stay, close by the harbour in the heart of pretty Polperro. Claire and her team were so hospitable and helpful and served up a delicious breakfast of which there was a good choice.

I have nothing to negative to say about my 2 night stay which was excellent.

We had a lovely welcome from Claire. Our room was spotless, cosy, very comfortabel too. Breakfast was lst class and staff very polite and pleasant nothing was too much trouble. We were lucky the weather was kind to us. Polperro is a very nice place to have a break with nice little shops and good food in local pubs. We will definitely be visiting again. Thank you Polperro. Fabulous location with a view of the harbour right below our window,

What a wonderful location! Right in the middle of all the village action, so close, you could smell the sea air and hear the seagulls. Easy walking distance to all the restaurants and the trails. Tidy with a nice breakfast and helpful staff. My only complaints are that the toilet was very hard to use. To the point that it induced anxiety. Would it flush this time or not? Also the bed was hard and there was a bright exit light in my room, the kind that point the way to the stairs in the event of an emergency. But it was so bright that it turned the entire room a neon green, and I couldn’t figure out how to dim it and no one in the hotel helped me. So I barely slept at all. They said it was there by law but I’ve never had such a bright light in my room anywhere else…Otherwise it would’ve been a solid experience.

If you are looking for the perfect little B&B, then you have just found the place. The House on the Props is a little gem, not just located within Polperro, but in the most perfect of spots in the village. The food was fabulous. The breakfast menu was better than some 5* hotels I’ve stayed in around the world. The room was so clean and homely. I mean it actually felt like being at home, it was that comfortable. The bed was lovely, I slept so well that I didn’t want to get up. The room was also so well equipped. The staff couldn’t of been any kinder or lovely. They are so interested in their guests in away I’ve never seen before anywhere. When you walk out of the door into the beautiful street, you are in the location of the gorgeous little harbour, the lovely old Cornish gift shops, bakeries and the famous old Cornish pubs, some have fabulous live music to round off your evenings. The Blue Peter was my favourite. You are close to the stunning cliff walks and the beach. Trust me, don’t bother looking at any other properties, because The House on the Props is the one you have been looking for in your search. A fabulous little gem, a jewel within the jewel of Polperro, with staff that sparkle in service to the guests. I can’t wait to go back!

Having to leave and come home

The location overlooking the harbour is excellent, in a beautiful fishing village. The breakfast was very good and having a fridge outside the room, with fresh milk and affordable drinks in, was a bonus.

Long walk form the car park (750m) and having to pay £40 to park for three days. Breakfast only available from 9am

It's all about personal preference, but we couldn't fault it! Claire and her team are really friendly and welcoming. Views over the harbour from our bedroom window, and perfectly placed for short walks around the village and harbour or longer rambles along the SW Coast Path. Breakfasts are fab. We didn't eat in their restaurant, but the menu looked good, and it was fully booked each night. Thank you!

amazing location and very friendly staff

Right in the middle of Polperro Harbour, wonderful location. Loved watching the tide come in & out. Quirky, building restaurant & rooms. Everything I needed for my stay. The cooked breakfast was delightful and plenty of choice. Claire & her team are wonderful hosts. I noted that locals popped into the restaurant for breakfast & coffee. A very friendly & happy place.

Nothing not to like about the property. The parking situation in Polperro is very expensive and a 10 minute walk from the property, which may be a challenge for people with mobility difficulties.
