La Pivoine

We highly recommend this property. It is exceptional! The best we have ever stayed in. The balcony, one of the very few if not the only one in old town, was perfect to watch the square come alive in the morning and to watch the merchants set up for the huge market on Saturday mornings.

The location in this preserved medieval city made our trip very memorable, even though there were hardly any restaurants open due to the time of year; early March. However, the twice-weekly market provided excellent fresh produce for cooking.

We can't imagine a better place to stay in Sarlat than La Pivoine. The pre-communications with the hosts were quick, informative and incredibly helpful. The location of the apartment can't be beat - right on the square, with a balcony for people watching and enjoying an afternoon glass of wine. The apartment itself is huge; much bigger than we expected, even from the pictures. It was the perfect blend of old architecture with new, comfortable furnishings. We started each day in the back sunroom with a pastry from one of the local shops and a cup of coffee. Sarlat is a great place to visit (except the weather didn't cooperate when we were there) and if we go back this is the only place we'd stay.
