Beautiful position on the lagoon. Host was welcoming and very helpful. Good breakfast with eggs, fruit and coffee. Comfortable room and good shower.

The villa was in an amazing location. Central enough to Bacalar center but far enough for quiet. Edwardo was an amazing host! The room was extremely clean and bigger than expected. The breakfast was delicious and fresh every day. Edwardo was extremely accommodating and helpful during our stay. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking to visit the beautiful town of Bacalar.

Villa Marilu is a beautiful place to get away from the busy tourist areas. The king bed was a little firm but comfortable and we slept well. The shower had great water pressure and plenty of hot water. The private patio overlooking the lagoon was tranquil with a picnic table and a hammock. The dock was a great place to relax over the lagoon with various seating options and partially shaded. Stairs into the water made access to swimming easy. Kayaks were available to use with life vests available. Breakfast was simple and delicious with friendly service. Drinking water was always available on the breakfast patio 24/7. A small refrigerator was in the room which was perfect for a cold drink and medication. The a/c worked very well and cooled the room quickly. It was simple to request taxis to centro for $80 pesos. I highly recommend for a romantic getaway. We definitely want to return.
The neighboring beach club plays loud music that can disrupt the peacefulness of the property. When inside the room with doors and windows closed, the music didn’t bother us.
The sliding door to the patio doesn’t lock. The property was secure and we didn’t have problems with the unlocked door.
It would be nice to have a chair inside the room.

The host (Eduardo) was could not have been more helpful regarding all aspects of our stay. The two waterfront rooms are excellent with large decks overlooking the lake. Make sure you book one of these rooms (I would have been disappointed with either of the two rooms at the back). Good restaurant about 100 yds/mtrs from the accommodation and several more close by. About 20 minute walk to town center. Kayaks available on site. Would definitely stay here again.
